Sean Bohen M.D., Ph.D. — Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President of Global Medicines Development at Astrazeneca PLC

Dr. Sean Bohen, M.D., Ph.D. has been the Executive Vice President of Global Medicines Development and Chief Medical Officer at AstraZeneca PLC since September 15, 2015. Dr. Bohen also serves as a Member of Senior Executive Team at AstraZeneca PLC. He is responsible for driving the progress of AstraZeneca's portfolio of small molecules and biologics investigational medicines through late-stage development to regulatory approval. As Chief Medical Officer, he is responsible for patient safety across the entire AstraZeneca and Medimmune portfolio. He served as Senior Vice President of Early Development at Genentech, Inc. until September 2015. Dr. Bohen served as Vice President of Early Development of Genentech Inc. He served as Vice President of Immunology Development, Tissue Growth & Repair and Vice President of Immunology of Genentech Inc. He oversaw preclinical and clinical development programs across all therapy areas, including oncology, respiratory and autoimmune diseases, to deliver trial-ready drug candidates to late-stage development. Prior to, he held a number of positions in early and late-stage development, played a key role in the growth and progress of the Genentech/Roche portfolio. Dr. Bohen was instrumental in bringing a large number of new medicines to patients, in particular for cancer and led activities to incorporate diagnostics into clinical programs. Prior to joining Genentech, he served as a Clinical Instructor in Oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is a tremendous Scientist and an accomplished drug Developer. He is an expert in key areas of exciting pipeline, including oncology and immunology. He served as a Research Associate at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Bohen is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and later earned his doctorate in biochemistry and his medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco.
