He was previously employed by Shell UK Exploration and Production Ltd., where he was a consultant in advanced completion technology for the Technical Services group. Prior to this position, he was employed at Wood Group Production Technology in the UK. He has been a Director of BJ Services, Inc. since June 2017 and BJS LLC since January 2017. An author of over 20 publications across a wide variety of technical fields, he is a frequent speaker at many industry events. He is a chartered engineer with the United Kingdom Engineering Council, a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Mr. Mathieson earned a Ph.D. in micro electro-mechanical systems and a Bachelor's Degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in engineering from that institution.
