Robert D. Strain — Senior VP & President of Ball Aerospace at Ball Corporation

Mr. Robert D. Strain, also known as Rob, has been Senior Vice President at Ball Corporation since April 2013 and serves as its President of Ball Aerospace. Mr. Strain served as the President of Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. since April 2013. Mr. Strain served as the Chief Operating Officer of Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. from March 2012 to March 30, 2013. He oversee Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp.'s operations, managing all four of its strategic business units: Civil and Operational Space; Tactical Solutions; National Defense and Systems Engineering Solutions. Previously, he served as Director of Goddard Space Flight Center at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) until January 2012. He served at Axiom Corporation. He served as Head of Space Department at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory since September 4, 2006. Mr. Strain leads APL's second-largest department, with nearly 600 specialists tackling some of NASA's and the military's toughest space science and systems engineering challenges. He had been an Executive Vice President and General Manager of Electronics and Sensor Systems and Transportation Management Systems Group since 1996. He has more than 25 years of experience in the aerospace business. Mr. Strain joined APL in 2004 as an Assistant Space Department Head for Operations. Since 2005, he served as Associate Department Head and the department's Managing Executive at APL. He served as Vice President for Finance and Manufacturing at Orbital Sciences Corp from 1994 to 1996 and also served as its Executive Vice President and General Manager of Space Systems Group. He served as the Chief Financial Officer at Fairchild Space and Defense Corporation, where he also held various other operational roles. He served as a Director at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center until January 2012. Mr. Strain has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University.
