I wasn't asked a lot of generic questions ... they were more focused on why I wanted to work in patient care.
Better staffing, better staffing, better staffing! Nursing ratios of 4:1 (5:1 rarely!) AND no more than 12:1 for nursing aides ... especially if you want your patients turned and bathed properly to prevent skin breakdown!!!!
My unit supervisor has an extremely genuine personality. His bedside manner is extraordinary and the care he provides as a nurse extends to his staff, all of whom are treated with respect regardless of their role.
The biggest reason would be because we are understaffed. I feel like if we could retain more qualified and dedicated staff in addition with a administration who are even mildly generous with our compensation, company morale and staff retention would be less of an issue. Happy nurses=happy patients!
