How employees describe working at Betterment
Betterment's compensation feels very in line with similar tech companies and their unlimited PTO policy is great and enjoyed by many. I've worked at other companies and I've worked here for almost 4 years; I dont have any illusions that the grass is greener elsewhere.

How's the vacation policy at Betterment?
Unlimited vacation - have never had an issue getting time off approved. Number of days off per year that people take off varies a lot across the company - anywhere from 10 to 40 days
We have an unlimited vacation policy as well as flexible working arrangements.
Vacation and personal days off are unlimited. Work hard, travel or relax when you like, and return refreshed.
How's the morale at Betterment?
Morale is pretty low.
How secure do you feel at your job at Betterment?
I do not feel secure at all. Crazy is the only word to describe some people in the leadership team. They make a number of ad-hoc changes that go nowhere and have no clue how to run a business.
How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at Betterment?
Betterment offers a really good work-life balance. You get plenty of life to maintain a social outside of work. Also, people are friendly enough if you want build a social circle with your co-workers.
How much diversity is there among employees at Betterment?
Betterment is one of the few tech companies which is truly diverse.
What unique perks and benefits does Betterment provide?
Free lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday. There is happy hour every Friday, and 2 office outing every year. Apart from that unlimited time-off and flexible hours.
What's the vibe like in the Product dept at Betterment? How many hours are you working?
Vibe is fine in the Product dept. Due to not so successful year for Product, there is pressure on product to deliver in 2018. That's why apart from execution, there a ton of time spent on planning. Betterment has found it difficult to attract good product talent and then retain it, so as a product manager you are often over-worked.
What's the Product team like at Betterment?
Product team is fairly new (1.5 years old) and is still figuring out the best processes. This year the product team did an improved job of planning for 2018. The team is in a much better shape than last year, and is looking forward to a strong 2018. Product team is broken into 6 pillars - Customer Lifecycle, Mobile, Broker-Dealer, B4A, B4B and Internal Tools. Each pillar is led by a product lead, with product managers managing squads within each pillar. There are 12 PMs right now including VP of product, and open positions.
