Mr. Steven E. Zipperstein, also known as Steve, has been the Chief Legal Officer at BlackBerry Limited since July 2012 and serves as its Chief Risk Officer. Mr. Zipperstein has over 30 years of legal experience, served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Verizon Communications since its launch in 2000 until December 2003 and previously he served as Deputy General Counsel of GTE Corporation since 1997. Before joining GTE in 1997, he served as Chief Assistant United States Attorney in Los Angeles and held a variety of positions at the Justice Department in Washington, D.C. in both the first Bush and Clinton administrations. He served as Vice President of Legal and External Affairs, General Counsel and Secretary of Cellco Partnership, Inc. (also known as Verizon Wireless) since January 2004. Mr. Zipperstein served as Chief Operating Officer at Kristian Tear. He served as Director at Compa??????a An???nima Nacional Tel???fonos de Venezuela. He began his legal career with Hufstedler, Miller, Carlson & Beardsley in downtown Los Angeles in 1983. Mr. Zipperstein also taught for several years as an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. He serves as a Director of Rural Cellular Corporation since August, 2008. Mr. Zipperstein is a graduate of UCLA with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and of U.C. Davis Law School with a juris doctorate, where he also served as Law Review Editor and Member of the Moot Court Board.
