Compared to other brands, we most often find our shoes to fit slightly shorter. We recommend ordering Brooks running shoes 1/2 size to one size larger than what you wear in casual or dress shoes.
Some other brands also run a little small, so it can be best to be fitted when trying out new models or versions to make sure they will work well for you. Use our Store Finder tool below to help find a local retailer in your area to help get you fitted.

View ArticleChoosing the right shoe for your best run should help you run farther, faster, more comfortably - or all 3! Here are some tips:
1.) Use our Shoe Finder to walk you through the process and explain the science of our shoes.Think about the ride - how do you want your run to feel? Do you like cushiony pillows under your feet? A springy, responsive stride? A more minimal sole to connect you to the earth? Are you running for distance or speed? Road or trail?
2.) Visit a local store for a professional fitting! Use our Store Locator to find a local running store, whose staff are incredibly knowledgeable about running and the gear that goes along with it. Your needs may change over time, so it's a great idea to create a relationship with your local store staff for expert advice.
3.) Try a pair! Our True Blue Guarantee means you can try a style and if it doesn't work, you return them within 90 days and try another!

View ArticleGuideRails support system is built into the footwear midsole and revolutionize traditional stability technology found in running shoes. Delivering on-demand support, GuideRails allow your hips, knees, and joints to move within their unique motion path while you run all without traditional posts.
This innovative new form of stability doesn't "correct" your stride. Instead, it assists your body in finding its natural path, or Stride Signature.
How It Works:
A good way to think about how GuideRails work is to picture a bobsled track. As the bobsled rockets down the icy course, the crew works to guide it down the "line" the ideal path through the course. The fastest times are achieved when the sled glides effortlessly down the course with limited side-to-side movement.
Now, lets apply this to the runner.
Much like the bobsled, runners perform best when they stay within their personal "line" what we like to call their Natural Habitual Joint Motion. GuideRails are designed to do just this help runners maintain the most efficient and natural motion throughout the run.

View ArticleThe fit of running shoes is important to the health of your feet and the quality of your run. There are a variety of shoes available in the Brooks line that offer a range of experiences so you can choose the perfect shoe for the fit, feel, and ride you prefer. Here are some tips:
You will always want approx. 1/2 in. of space (a thumbs width) between the end of your big toe and the end of the shoe. This often means sizing up your running shoes 1/2 of a size from what your normal size.
The width can be important. If you've never had a professional fitting, it might be a great idea - especially if you've ever felt shoes were too narrow or too wide for you. We carry many of our styles in Wide and Narrow width options, although colors are sometimes more limited.
Fit and feel is a matter of preference, and it might take you a couple of tries to choose the right shoe for your perfect run. This is why we offer the True Blue Guarantee - to allow you the opportunity to find the best shoe in the bet size.
To find a local store for a professional fitting, please use our Store Locator. Your needs may change over time, so it's a great idea to create a relationship with your local store staff for expert advice.

View ArticleWhen looking for the right shoe for your runs you will want to pay mind to the arch of your feet. The arch of your foot is the curved portion along the inside edge of your feet. On our products, we list the ideal arch types that the shoe is designed to compliment. If you have a low/flat arch then you would want a shoe listed with a low/flat arch. If you have a high arch or high instep then you would want to lean towards a model listed with a med/high arch.
There are some helpful tests you can perform at home or a local running shop can help you in identifying which type of arch you have and what may work best for you. Use our Store Finder tool to help find some great running shops in your area that can help you identify your arch type.

What is Plantar Fasciitis?
Plantar fasciitis can be tricky to solve with a single shoe as it can be quite different from person to person. These are some guidelines for which models may work best. Typically we find shoes with a higher drop from heel to toe, good cushion to take the impact away, and sometimes a less flexible option to help in case the other benefits aren't enough.
The first thing to find out is if you pronate or not as you walk/run. Pronation is as you walk/run your ankles will have a tendency to roll inwards towards each other and onto your arches, putting a lot of pressure on the inside edge of your feet.
If you feel you do this then you will want to check the SUPPORT SHOES suggestions. If you feel you walk pretty flat and stable, or perhaps roll outwards a little, then you will want to read the NEUTRAL SHOES suggestions. To help find out if you pronate you can visit a local running shop and have your gait analyzed by simply walking/running in the store as they watch. Linked below is our store finder to help find somewhere that could offer this:
Find a Local Brooks Retailer
Support Shoes:
A great option to start with to help with plantar fasciitis relief is our Adrenaline GTS model. The Adrenaline GTS offers a 12mm drop from heel to toe which helps to put your weight more in the forefoot and away from the plantar in your heel. The Adrenaline GTS has great cushion underfoot and supports to keep your pronation controlled as you walk/run. If you feel that you do not have enough cushion or perhaps too much flex in the Adrenaline GTS then you will want to explore our Addiction model. The Addiction is a highly supportive option, it will offer the same 12mm drop benefit of the Adrenaline GTS and pronation support but with some added stability. The Addiction features a rollbar through the midsole that helps to minimize excessive flex to the shoe and foot as you walk/run which in turn can help to cut back on stress to your plantars.
Neutral Shoes:
A great option to start with to help with plantar fasciitis relief is our Ghost model. The Ghost offers a 12mm drop from heel to toe which helps to put your weight more in the forefoot and away from the plantar in your heel. The Ghost offers a slightly wider toe-box by design to help get you a little more wiggle room in the fit and has great cushioning to help make for soft and smooth travels. In case you feel the Ghost is too flexible and you are getting a lot of agitation still in your plantar then I would suggest trying our Dyad model. The Dyad will offer the same 12mm drop benefit of the Ghost and work to keep your gait neutral but with some added stability. The Dyad helps to minimize excessive flex to the shoe and foot as you walk/run which in turn can help to cut back on stress to your plantars.
As plantar fasciitis can vary from each persons' experience we suggest these shoes as guidelines of good models to try. Depending on your experiences we may have a better option. Feel free to reach out to help find the best model for your feet and your runs.

Brooks Return Policy
At Brooks, we know we make the best running gear in the world, and we are willing to stand behind that belief with a return policy to match.
Brooks offers the True Blue Guarantee - a promise that you'll love your gear, and if you don't we will take it back for 90 days after purchase. Run in it, sweat in it, inside, outside, in the rain - if it doesn't perform the way it should, send it back.
Unworn items can be returned for one full year from the date of purchase.
Please note that the expected lifespan of performance running shoes is 300-500 miles or 3-6 months, which can vary based on weather, surface, temperature, etc. Running shoes are designed and manufactured for forwards linear movement, so other uses (for example, other sports which may require lots of lateral movement) may result in wear that is unexpected.
Sports bras/apparel (especially those used in heavy rotation) are generally ready for replacement after one year.
How do I return an item?
We offer free returns for refunds within 90-days of purchase if you don't love your new Brooks gear - even after you've run & sweat in it! Any unworn items can be returned up to one year after purchase.

View ArticleHow to wash shoes:
We recommend following these directions to keep your shoes looking and performing their best.
Remove the internal liner and hand wash the shoes in warm water with mild soap. Make sure not to submerge or soak the shoes in water. We do not recommend using a washer or dryer machine for cleaning our shoes, as they can be too aggressive and cause the shoes to stretch or warp compromising the materials and performance of the shoe.
Stuff your shoes with newsprint (plain if you have it) and allow them to air dry. When they are all dried out, you can reinsert the liner and hit the road again
How to dry a wet shoe:
Depending on how wet they get and the method of drying, running shoes can encounter adverse results. If a performance running shoe is worn through rain, submerged and/or soaked, the materials may lose quality in elasticity, softness, cushion, and overall last.
If your shoes are submitted to any of these scenarios, we recommend that you stuff them with newspaper and leave them in a warm place over night. Do not use any heat (dryer, baseboard heaters, sunlight) to dry them because it can ruin the synthetic materials in the shoe's upper.

View ArticlePerformance running shoes are created with only one thing in mind - the run. Fabrics are carefully developed to provide the very best performance available for the lifetime of a running shoe - which is 300-500 miles of 3-6 months of use. Holes in the fabric after this period of time would be considered normal wear and tear. Here are some other reasons you might experience holes:
Size - running shoes should have 1/2 inch (a thumbs width) of space between the end of your longest toe and the end of the shoe. If you are experiencing holes at the end of the toe box of your shoes, consider whether there is enough room there. Perhaps sizing up 1/2 size would help.
Width - if you are experiencing holes in the fabric on the sizes of your shoes, particularly at the widest point of your foot, it's possible you would benefit from a wider shoe.
Stride - if your shoes are rubbing against each other during your stride, you might see wear on the inside of the shoes or on the collars around the ankle. Some runners also experience holes in the toebox from lifting their big toe as a part of their stride.
If you believe that you are experiencing holes in the fabric of your shoes that are caused by a design or manufacturing flaw, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
