Mr. David Friend III, also known as Dave, is a Co-Founder of Wasabi Technologies, Inc. and has been its President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Friend serves as General Partner with Orchid Partners and Orchid Partners, L.P. Mr. Friend co-founded Sonexis, Inc. and serves as its Chairman of the Board. Mr. Friend Co-Founded Carbonite, Inc. in February 2005 and served as its President from August 2010 to December 3, 2014. Mr. Friend served as Chief Executive Officer at Carbonite, Inc. until December 3, 2014. He Co-Founded Sonexis Technology, Inc. in 1999 and served as its Chief Executive Officer. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of FaxNet Corp. He Co-Founded and served as the Chairman of the Board of Faxnet Corporation where he served from January 1995 to December 1999. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Sonexis, Inc. Prior to founding FaxNet in 1995, he was the Co-Founder and Chairman of Pilot Software, Inc. from November 1983 to November 1994. Before founding Pilot Software Inc., in June of 1983, he was the Founder and Chairman of Computer Pictures Corporation, one of the first microcomputer software companies to pioneer the use of integrated data and graphics for business analysis. Mr. Friend was co-founder of ARP Instruments. He served as the President of ARP Instruments, an audio hardware manufacturer. He spent 10 years working with leading musicians of the day, including Stevie Wonder, Pete Townsend of the Who, Led Zeppelin and dozens of others. He serves as the President of the board of Boston Baroque. Mr. Friend serves as the Chairman of Storiant, Inc. He served as the Executive Chairman of Carbonite, Inc. from December 3, 2014 to February 29, 2016. He served as the Chairman of Chasma Interactive Publishing Inc. He has been a Director of Healthgate Data Corp. since April 1995, Geac Computer Corp. Ltd. since October 2001. He serves as a Director of Sonexis, Inc., Sonexis Technology, Inc., Chasma Interactive Publishing Inc., CyraCom International, Inc., DealDash, Inc., and NetBlazr, Inc. He has been a Director of Carbonite, Inc. since March 2016. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board at Allele Fund. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board of Nimbit, Inc. He served as a Director of Nichols Research Corp., since 1998. He served as a Director of Extensity Inc. since October 2001. During 1994 and 1995, he served as a Lecturer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is on the Board of Overseers at Berklee. Mr. Friend serves on the board of Berklee College of Music. He is a Trustee Emeritus of the Brookings Institution. He has been on the board of the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC for over 15 years. He was also a David Sarnoff Fellow at the Princeton University Graduate School of Engineering. He is a respected philanthropist and supporter of the arts in Boston. In the tech space, he has served on numerous private and public boards. He is an avid mineral and gem collector and donated the David Friend Gem and Mineral Hall at the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History. He is an Active Venture Investor. Mr. Friend holds a B.S. in Engineering from Yale University, where he was one of fifteen Scholars of the House and a Member of the Aurelian Honor Society. He is an avid runner and cyclist.
