He served as the Chief Financial Officer of UDR Inc. from June 2, 2008 to May 31, 2012 and served as its Senior Vice President since January 2007. Mr. Messenger served as the Chief Accounting Officer of UDR Inc. since March 15, 2006. Mr. Messenger oversaw the areas of accounting, risk management, financial planning and analysis, property tax administration and SEC reporting. Mr. Messenger served as Controller and Vice President of UDR Inc. since 2002. From June 2012 to February 2013, Mr. Messenger served as an Independent Consultant for UDR, Inc. Since 2002, he owned and served as President of TRC Management Company. He served as Controller of HMS Resource Inc. from 1998 to 2000. He served as a Manager of Real Estate Division of Ernst & Young LLP. He began his career in the Real Estate Division of Ernst & Young LLP in 1993. He is a Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Messenger is licensed in the State of Virginia as a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Messenger holds both a BBA/Bachelor of Science and an MA in Accounting from the University of Iowa.
