I haven't had anyone close to me that was laid off so I don't know the specifics, what I do know is that we have timely announcements as early as possible. Transparency is pretty big here, so everyone knows what's happening at the same time.

Yes! We're actually pretty big on volunteering. We have Ciena Cares, Volunteer Time Off, Charity Donation Matching, etc. We have tons of local initiatives where we do beach cleanups, community support, etc.

While it depends on each team you are a part of, I do see a good number of in-line promotions annually. Much more than my previous employers.

Outings will be dependent on the department in which one works. Ciena is not a hyper-social environment but efforts are made to do things a couple of times a year.

Yes. Ciena is fairly flexible in accommodating remote employees if the skill sets are in demand.

Raises are hard to come by at Ciena, even for top performers. I have been denied multiple times to address inadequacy in salaries for my reports and lost some talent because of it.
