Malcolm D. Griggs — Chief Risk Officer and Executive Vice President at Citizens Financial Group

Mr. Malcolm D. Griggs has been Chief Risk Officer of Citizens Bank, National Association since April 6, 2016. Mr. Griggs has been Chief Risk Officer of Citizens Financial Group, Inc. since April 1, 2016 and its Executive Vice President since December 2014. Mr. Griggs served as Chief Credit Officer of Citizens Financial Group, Inc. from December 2014 to April 1, 2016. Mr. Griggs served as Chair of Enterprise Risk Management of The Risk Management Association. He serves as the Head of Risk Management and Retail Banking of Morgan Stanley. He joined Wachovia Corp., (formerly, First Union) in 1989 and has been Director of Risk Policy since 1995. He served as Chief Risk Officer and an Executive Vice President of Fifth Third Bancorp. from June 2003 to 2007. Mr. Griggs served as Chief Risk Officer and an Executive Vice President of Fifth Third Bank, a subsidiary of Fifth Third Bancorp. and was responsible for its credit, market and operational risk management, includes managing risk policies, monitoring risk strategies and ensuring regulatory compliance. He served as Head of Business Risk and Controls for Citigroup's U.S. commercial and consumer banking businesses. Over the course of 25 years, he also led lending and business risk management at Morgan Stanley Private Bank and served in senior risk-management leadership roles at Bank of America. He serves on the board of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Music School. He was in a leadership role as the First Union and Wachovia organizations were merged and has a wide range of experience in risk management. Prior to joining Wachovia, he specialized in commercial law with a law firm in Norfolk, Virginia. He served as Chairman of The Risk Management Association until September 1, 2010 and serves as its Director. Mr. Griggs earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
