View ArticleFor every inquiry you receive, keep in mind that there is an individual behind the message who is looking to you to help them reach Another Level.
In your CoachUp account you can visit your Inbox to view any incoming messages from potential clients. There are two types of messages you may receive: direct messages and general requests.
Direct Messages
Direct messaging is the most common form of communication between you and your clients. The client’s message is automatically sent to your CoachUp Inbox and your email address; you can reply to the message from either. The quicker you reply to your clients, the more likely they’ll be to book sessions with you.
CoachUp requires coaches to reply to their clients within 48 hours, or their fast response rate will be docked, so try to aim for a 100\% fast response rate. Also, if you do not respond within 48 hours, you will receive a warning and your profile will drop in the search results.
General Requests
Rather than a client directly reaching out to you for your coaching services, a client may opt to submit a general request in search of a coach in their area. The general request is sent to multiple coaches in the area at the same time. We recommend replying to these general requests as quickly as possible to increase your chances of booking the client.
I’ve received a message, now what?
Some things to consider asking about the athlete before deciding if you’re a good match:
Desired training location
Availability
Training goals
Age and position (if applicable)
Please keep in mind, that per CoachUp’s Terms of Service, you cannot exchange contact information prior to booking a session. We have built our messaging platform to instantly connect you and your potential clients via email. Please adhere to the system, if not, your profile is in danger of suspension
Booking Requests
There are two different ways to start working together. For both options, you have 24 hours to accept or decline the booking request before it expires.
The client can send you a booking request.
You can send the client a custom package for a different rate and number of athletes than are available in your default packages.
When you receive anew Booking Request, you have a few options. You may:
Accept the Booking Request ASAP - you’ll have 24 hours to respond, but reply quickly to ensure the best experience for the client. Upon accepting, call the client to discuss their goals and session logistics.
Decline the Booking Request within 24 hours if you can't work with the client for some reason.
If you’d like to know more details before you Accept the Booking Request, promptly message the client via your inbox; await their response, but keep in mind that the Booking Request will expire 24 hours from when it was submitted.
Overall, the most important thing is to Accept or Decline the client’s Booking Request before it expires (24 hours after it’s submitted).
Custom Packages
A custom package allows you the opportunity to adjust your rates on a one-off basis to fit the needs and requests of a client. For example, if you’re willing to train an athlete at a discounted rate, or perhaps you want to offer a special introductory rate, you can offer a custom package without permanently changing your rate.
You can send a custom package from your Inbox by opening a message thread with a potential client and clicking the grey “Offer Custom Package” button.
Great, they’ve booked a session, now what?
Once you accept the booking request, CoachUp will automatically send you the client's phone number, so give them a call to nail down any final logistics! If you can’t reach them over the phone, we strongly recommend leaving them a message and following up with an email. To ensure you and your client are on the page, we recommend scheduling the session from the Sessions tab in your dashboard.

All CoachUp coaches must pass an Identification Check, National CriminalCheck, and Sex Offender Check performed by Checkr.
Identification Check
An Identification Check consists of a visual image scan on identity documentations such as driving licenses and passports to ensure that they are valid and not reported as stolen or lost.
National CriminalCheck
ANational Criminal Check draws from over 500 million records from thousands of jurisdictions extracted from state and county courthouses. This check is a basic check and only includes the state and counties that report to the national database. It is not a complete database.
Sex Offender Check
A Sex Offender Check identifies applicants who are listed on a nationwide or state Sex Offender registry. These registries assemble information about persons convicted of sexual offenses for law enforcement and public notification purposes.
All coaches are required to renew the Identification Check, National CriminalCheck and Sex Offender Check on an annual basis to maintain their CoachUp accounts.

How can I learn more about the five metrics that determine my Coach Tier?
For a detailed explanation of the five metrics that determine your Coach Tier placement, please click here.
Can my Coach Tier change over time?
Yes, your Coach Tier will be recalculated every 2 weeks on the 1st and 15th of each month.
Does my Coach Tier affect my earnings?
No. All coaches operate under the same schedule of fees no matter which Coach Tier they are in. You can see the full breakdown of fees and earnings .
Will my Coach Tier determine where I appear in CoachUp's search results?
Your Coach Tier will not expressly determine where you appear in CoachUp's search results, but some of the same metrics that are used to calculate your Coach Tier are also used to determine where you appear in search results. Because factors like distance and position/expertise are used to determine the order that we display coaches to an athlete that is conducting a Coach Search, it does not mean that a coach belonging to a higher tier will always be listed ahead of a coach in a different tier.
Why is CoachUp changing the Coach Tiers?
We are evolving constantly to meet our three goals: to provide a superior experience for our clients, to be an unmatched professional resource for our coaches, and to maintain our status as the nation's leader in private coaching. The updated version of the Coach Tiers provides coaches with 5 clear metrics which can be used as a guide to attaining status as a top-class CoachUp Coach. In addition to being recognized as a Gold Tier coach, a top performing coach will also have access to several of the features that were previously only available to coaches who paid for the Premium membership including faster payouts and restriction-free messaging with potential athletes.

Set the rate of the package (keep in mind, if the client is booking apackage with you for the first time, a $19.99 Placement fee will also be charged to your client)
Select whether the package is for in-person training or virtual training
If you offer virtual training, you willappear in search results across the country to athletes searching for virtualcoaching
Please note:
We ask that you work with each of your clients one-on-one, unless of course the client has booked a package that you've indicated is for group sessions. You may train more than one athlete during a session if you have discussed the situation in advance with your client and believe that including one or more additional athletes will benefit the client's training experience.
By offering group training, you are able to increase your hourly rate. Because of this, we suggest you heavily discount your per athlete rate to make a group booking more attractive for potential clients.
We suggest you charge between:
40\% less per athlete for 2 athlete group
50\% less per athlete for 3 athlete group
60\% less per athlete for 4 athlete group
View ArticleCoaches set their own rates on CoachUp, so pricing varies based on the coach you choose; a coach's pricing can be found on his or her profile page. Many coaches offer discounts for packages of multiple sessions or multiple athletes.
A one-time only Placement Fee of $19.99 applies only to your first booking with a new coach. You will not be charged this fee for any rebookings with your coach. It is not charged if the athlete has been referred to CoachUp by the coach or if the athlete is registering for a coach's event such as a camp or clinic. Thisis the only additional fee that will be charged for the duration of your relationship with your coach.
All sessions booked through CoachUp are covered by our Good-Fit Guarantee.

Scheduling Your Sessions
The sooner you can get your training started, the sooner the athlete can see improvement, and the quicker you can get paid. Once you have nailed down a time, date, and location, schedule your session by clicking on the “Schedule” button next to the client’s name.
When you schedule your sessions, CoachUp will provide details about when they will take place, and automatically provide you and your client with reminders leading up to each session. CoachUp has a 24-hour cancellation policy to protect both you and your client in the event of a last minute cancellation, so be sure to give your athlete a heads up if you are unable to make a session.
Completing Your Sessions
Once you complete your session, you need to mark the session complete to receive your payment. You should only mark a session complete after it has occurred. We encourage you to do this immediately following sessions to ensure timely payouts. To mark a session as complete, just click the "Mark Complete" button next to the session in the Sessions tab of your dashboard.
After clicking the “Mark Complete” button, you will need to provide the following information to receive payment:
Session date, time, and location
Feedback for the athlete - provide an overview of what you worked on, the athlete’s performance, and discuss what you will work on in future sessions.
Payments are issued 3-5 days after you mark a training session as complete. You can check on the status of your payout in your Payments tab. If you accidentally mark a session complete that did not occur, please contact CoachUp Customer Support immediately.

View ArticleWe willdisplay your public events on your profile page and in your sport's search results, but there are also a few things you should do to be proactive about getting more clients to register foryour event.
Your first step should be inviting clients who've contacted you through CoachUp in the past. You can invite clients through your CoachUp inbox by either inviting one client at a time or by inviting many clients at once.
Inviting a client to an event
In your inbox, open a message with one of your clients and select the option to "Invite to a clinic."
Events
You'll be able to send an invitation to your event to your client and customize a message.
Inviting many clients to an event at once
We'd recommend using the "mass messaging" feature available in the iOS and Android apps.
With the mass messaging feature, you can select as many of your clients or potential clients as you like, and send them a link to your event registration page. If you only have a limited number of registration slots available, be sure to let your clients know that you will be accepting registrations on a first come, first serve basis.
You can find the url to your event in the "" tab of your CoachUp account. Just navigate tothe date on your calendar that your event is scheduled for, click on your event, and look for the "Invite Athletes: Copy the Link Below to Share" section. That's the link you'll want to share with your clients.
You should also share the link to your event with your non-CoachUp clients via email, text, and social media. The more places you share it, the more quickly you'll fill up the available registration slots.
We've also seen coaches havesuccess by offering things like free t-shirts, gear, or training sessions to clients whoregister for the event andalso inviteadditional friends/familyto register as well. Remember that your clients' word of mouth is an effective marketing tool, so encourageyour clients tohave their friends register!

A Custom Package is a unique offer exclusive to a particular client that is different from your standard session and package rates. For example, you may want to offer a Custom Package if a client wants to train far away and you need to increase your rate to factor in time/travel costs.
In short, Custom Packages are all about offering flexibility to accommodate unique circumstances.
Want to offer a Custom Package? Here’s how:
To offer a Custom Package, visit your Inbox and select a conversation.
When viewing a conversation, click the “Offer Custom Package” button.
Next, edit the Custom Package page to include the number of athletes you are training, the number of sessions you want to book with this client, and the price you will charge.
Once these fields are filled in, click “Send” to deliver a message to your client with a link to redeem the custom package you have just created for them.

Coach Profile
The Your Coach Profile section consists of four fields that you are required to fill out:
Coaching Experience ( jump )
Athletic Highlights( jump )
Session Plan( jump )
One Sentence Bio ( jump )
1. Coaching Experience
(140 character minimum)
What experience do you have coaching or training athletes? At what levels have you coached? Where have you worked as a coach or trainer? What age groups do you typically work with? Do you have any industry certifications?
Be specific here! List specific schools, teams, clubs, universities that you have coached as well as how many and which years you spent with each.Have your players/teams gone on to play in any championships/win any awards?
Great descriptions include specifics:
My coaching resume includes stops at St. Anne's Belfield School in Charlottesville, Virginia working as a bench coach before accepting a job with the nationally ranked TC Roberson Rams in Asheville, NC. I am proud to currently serve as the lead assistant for Needham's Post 14 American Legion team. I have a proven track record of coaching baseball players of all abilities and levels from beginners to High-School All Americans. I have coached many Division 1 players who are or were student-athletes at places like South Carolina, Wake Forest, Appalachian State, Columbia, High Point, James Madison, UNC-Asheville, Tennessee, and Northwestern. I have also worked with many Division II and III players.
Avoid vague descriptions:
I’m a seasoned coach in Basketball. I have coached for many years for several different teams. I currently coach for a high school team.
TIP: We understand that many of our coaches may be fairly new to coaching so don't forget to add camps that you coached at during your playing days.
2. Athletic Highlights
(140 character minimum)
What were your athletic accomplishments? Did you compete at the collegiate or professional level? Where did you compete? What awards or honors have you earned?
Clients will look at your Athletic Highlights in conjunction with your Coaching Experience to get a sense of who you are as an athlete/coach and how you can help them reach their goals. Again, it is important to be specific. For example, what position did you play?
Great descriptions include specifics:
I was a three sport athlete at Needham high school, playing football, basketball, and baseball. Basketball was always my greatest passion so I continued to play in college at the Division 1 level at CoachUp University. I was both a relief pitcher and starter and helped my team win three straight Conference Championships. Some of my specific athletic accomplishments are as follows: Voted team captain 2012 Honorable Mention All-Conference 2012 Led Team in basketball in 2011 League MVP in High School
Avoid vague descriptions:
I was a college basketball player. I would have played professionally if it had not been for an ankle injury.
TIP: Be as descriptive as possible - clients are looking for details they can relate to (played point guard in high school) or can aspire to (earned a scholarship to play D1).
3. Session Plan
(140 character minimum)
We understand that every session will be different, but this section will provide insight into what a typical session with you may entail (drills, techniques, coaching style).
What's typically included? Check out the example below:
Good example (baseball):
Dynamic warm up involving short plyometric movements to get legs and core engaged
Position specific throwing with player
Front toss to diagnose key areas to work on
Tee work
Live batting practice
Conditioning and/or position specific work
Bad example (too generic):
We will work very hard while also having a ton of fun!
TIP: This is a good opportunity to show areas that you believe to be your expertise.
4. One Sentence Bio
(180 character maximum)
Your One Sentence Bio is the first thing clients will read about you when they search for coaches in their area. To help your profile stand out, include specific details that are unique to your background and experience, such as athletic achievements and coaching/career highlights.
Great descriptions include specifics:
Former D1 starter with 3 years of private coaching experience. Specializes as a shooting coach.
Former assistant coach at nationally ranked TC Roberson High School and lead assistant for Needham's Post 14 American Legion team.
I have 6 years experience as a Certified Personal Trainer through I.S.S.A, and hold two more certifications through NESTA and TRX.
Avoid vague descriptions:
I have been coaching athletes for quite some time - train with me to reach your goals!
Let’s work hard, get better, and have fun!
TIP: This should be unique and informative what experience do you have that differentiates you from the other coaches.

A few things to note:
Add Training Locations : In the Travel section, indicate if you are willing to travel to do a session. Some clients may request to meet at a location closer to them, but you are not required to do so. By selecting that you are not willing to travel, you are indicating that all sessions will take place at one of your listed training locations. Next, add a training location; you can add multiple locations, but only the top 3 will be visible to potential clients.
You can use parks, churches, high school gyms, or other out of the box places to run a good session. Asking other coaches in your area or searching for facilities on the internet may yield some great results as well. You do not need a lot of space or a brand new facility to hold a great session!
Add your availability : Set your general availability and specific availability.
My Details: In the My Details section, you will indicate whether there is a cost to use the facility where you hold your sessions. If there is, you can let the client know here whether the facility fee is included in your CoachUp rate or if the client should expect to pay more to use the facility at the time of the session.

View ArticleLooking for additional ways to find new clients? Building a craigslist ad for your coaching services is a quick and easy way to get more job leads. Creating a personal ad is easy, just follow these short steps and you'll be on your way to booking more training sessions in no time.
Step 1: Create a Craigslist account
* NOTE: If you already have an account, you can skip this step
You must have a Craigslist account to post an ad (it's free!).
You will then need to access your email to click on the verification link sent to you by Craigslist.
Once you click on this link from your email, you will be brought to a page where you will set up your password for the account.
The first time you visit your account page, you'll be asked to agree to Craigslist's terms of use.
Once you've agreed to the terms, you'll be ready to post ads.
Step 2: Create a new post on Craigslist
Visit your Craigslist account page, and if necessary, sign in using your email address and password.
At the top of the page to the right, you will see a drop down menu that says “new posting in.” Select the city you live in (or near) and click on the “go” button.
On the next page, you will choose the type of posting. Select “service offered” and wait for the next page to load.
Now choose “lessons & tutoring.”
On the next page you will choose an area to post your ad select the area that best represents where you coach.*
* NOTE: Some smaller cities on Craigslist do not require you to choose a specific area, so you may skip this step depending on where you are posting.
Step 3: Complete and submit your post
You will then reach the page where you can enter your ad content. First, enter your posting title and specific location.
SUGGESTED POST TITLE: "Private [your sport] sessions with experienced coach."
Create the text for the body of the ad, and follow the instructions on Craigslist if you would like to add images. Your ad should include information about you.To ensure that your ad shows up in Google search results, you may want to include specific keywords relating to training as well asyour location. For example if you are a basketball coach who is looking for work in the Greater Boston area you may want to include the keywords "basketball", "coaching", "training", and "Boston".
You should also add a link to your profile.
* IMPORTANT: Be sure to select “no replies to this email.” Selecting this option will ensure that your email address remains hidden, which will protect you from malicious solicitations and spammers. In order to protect your safety and privacy, please make sure that you are not including your direct contact information in your ad.
You will be able to see a preview of your ad before posting it. If everything looks correct, click “publish.” If you need to make changes to your ad, click “edit text.”
Once you have submitted your ad, you will receive an email from Craigslist with the subject line POST/EDIT/DELETE: [your ad title].
Follow the link in the email and click the option to "publish" your ad.
* NOTE: You may post to more than one category if you wish, so feel free to experiment with others! * BE AWARE: If you post too often, your ads might be ghosted or flagged (meaning no one will see them). We recommend waiting 48 hours between postings.

View ArticleWhether it be due to scheduling conflicts, difficulty finding a location, or it's just not the best fit, sometimes you just can't train with a client.
Yourclient probably wants tofind a different coach to work with though. Or maybe they booked the wrong package with you, and you want them to rebook you at a different rate. Please feel free to direct your client here for instructions on how to receive a CoachUp credit to use to book another coach or book a different package with you.
You or your client can also reach out to us directly, and we'd be happy to transfer their sessions or provide them with a refund.
View ArticleCoachUp protects you with a 24-hour cancellation policy in case a client does notshow up for a scheduled session. You have the option to mark the session complete so that you will still be paid for the time you've set aside. This policy is to be implemented at your discretion; we encourage you to use your judgement depending on your client's circumstance.
If a client is not present at the beginning of the session, call to check on his/her status. If a client is just running late, utilize the remaining time in the session to the best of your ability. If a client does not show up at all, we recommend you reach out to him/her to discuss the reason for missing the session and attempt to reschedule it.
Be sure to schedule your sessions in advance through CoachUp.That way, if your client is a no-show, we'll have a record of when the session was supposed to take place.
If you're unable to train with your client and they require a refundor would like to transfer their booking to a different coach, visitour help center article on processing refunds/transfersfor clients.
