From here, you can see when each device was granted access. By clicking on a device, you can rename it or disable the access.
Please note that if you click on the "x" to revoke access to a device, your Dashlane data is deleted from that device. This is only a problem if you don't have sync enabled. With sync enabled, you can delete all of the devices on this list without risk of losing any data.
If you are a Free user and want to revoke access to a device, please make sure to revoke all points of access from the same device. For example, if on one device you log in to both the Dashlane web app and the Dashlane desktop app, these are counted as two separate points of access, and both would need to be revoked.
I received an email saying I authorized a new device to my Dashlane account, but I didn't?
You need to authorize your device when you sign in to the web app, and you will need to re-authorize your device if you use a different browser, or if you empty your browser's cache or delete your cookies. You will also need to re-authorize your device if you reinstall Dashlane completely. This means that in your list of devices under "Manage devices", you may see several entries for the same device. This could explain why you received such an email.
You can use the icons to the left of your devices to tell where they come from. You will see a Windows icon for PCs, an Apple icon for Macs, iPads and iPhones, a smartphone for Android phones and a globe for the web app.
If you are worried someone might knowyour Master Password and be using your Dashlane account from their device (this would mean they also have access to your email box where our security codes are sent to authorize any new device), you could always change your Master Password to a new, stronger one. Please refer to this article to find out how to change your Master Password. Also, to increase your overall security, you could protect your Dashlane account with .
View ArticleIn a few easy steps, Android users can import the passwords they have saved in Chrome into Dashlane.
Previously, to import passwords saved in your browsers, you had to do this from your desktop device. But if you're an Android user and have used the Chrome browser to remember your passwords, this method is a simple, easy way to get Dashlane securely autofilling your passwords, and saving you time and effort online.

How it works
What to do
Step 1: Open the "Settings" menu in Chrome
Step 2: Tap "Passwords"
Step 3: Tap "Export passwords..."
Step 4: Select "Import to Dashlane"
How it works
When you request it to, Chrome temporarily gives Dashlane access to your passwords. Dashlane will show you the password credentials it finds, and allow you to confirm or cancel the import. Once you have confirmed, your passwords are securely imported into Dashlane. It's as simple as that!
At no point are your passwords exported from Chrome into an unencrypted file on your device. And if you cancel the import into Dashlane, your passwords are not exported from Chrome at all. For your security, note that as part of this process you will be asked to enter your device's pin code, as you would for any export from Chrome.
This feature is available for Chrome 66 and above.
What to do
Some new Android users will have automatically been invited to use this capability when they created their account. If it wasn't suggested to you, you skipped it at the time, or you simply want to use the feature, follow the steps here to export your passwords from Chrome.
Step 1: Open the "Settings" menu in Chrome
Open the menu in the top-right, then scroll down and select Settings.
Step 2: Tap "Passwords"
Inside the Settings menu, tap to open Passwords.
Step 3: Tap "Export passwords..."
First, tap the 3-dot menu in the upper right. Thentap on "Export passwords..."
Chrome will remind you that, were you to go through with a normal export of your passwords, this would create an unencrypted copy of them. Remember that this is not the case here, as no separate file will in fact be made. Finally, enter in your PIN to allow Chrome to perform the export.
Step 4: Select "Import to Dashlane"
You should see Dashlane as an option for your import. Select Import to Dashlane.
Note that if Dashlane finds duplicate passwords, or passwords you already have in Dashlane, they will not be included in the results.
Click on IMPORT ALL to finish the process.
And you're all set!
Once you've imported your passwords from Chrome, you may want to save your next passwords in Dashlane instead of Chrome. To do so, disable Save passwords and Auto Sign-in in Chrome.

First, uninstall Dashlane from your computer. Click here to learn how to do this.
Then, go to the delete page and follow the instructions there.
Check your email for a message entitled "Account deletion request" that will give you a confirmation security code. Enter the confirmation code on the deletion page and click Delete my account.
Doing so deletes your Dashlane account and all of its data, including your passwords and any personal information linked to your account. This will also delete all financial records and data associated with the account. We will not be able to process refunds, look up transactions, or provide any other support related to the deleted account. This action cannot be undone, and you will not be able to log in to your account anymore.
Please note that deleting your account on the web page will not automatically remove Dashlane from your computer. Similarly, removing Dashlane from your computer will not delete or reset your account. You need to do both in order to fully leave Dashlane.
It would be great if you took a minute to send an email to [email protected] to explain to us what you did not like or what disappointed you in Dashlane and made you want to cancel your account. This will help us understand and learn from your experience, so please don't be shy!
View ArticleYour Master Password is the private key used to encrypt all of your data saved in Dashlane. Please remember to make your Master Password as strong as possible, and do not share it with anyone else.
You need to be signed in and have a working Internet connection to change your Master Password. This can only be done from your Windows, macOS or Android application.
Free users, or users with automatic sync disabled, should remember that when they change their Master Password, they will lose access to the Dashlane data on any other devices they use. To change your Master Password without losing that data, you should first make Dashlane secure archives of the data on those devices. Then, once you have changed your Master Password, note that you will use the old password one last time to open the secure archives and reimport your data on each device.

If Dashlane is not installed yet, download it and install it. Then, launch the application.
The experience you have will vary slightly depending on the device and browser on which you installed Dashlane. For instance, on desktop, you will see one of these two windows:
1) If it is the first time Dashlane is used on this computer, the welcome screen is displayed.
Click on I already have an account in the lower left.
2) If an account already exists on this computer, the login window will be displayed.
Delete the contents of the Email field. Then, in the Emailfield, type in your Dashlane ID, which is the email address you used to first set up Dashlane. Then enter your Master Password and click on Log in.
If you have forgotten your Master Password, click here.
Security code
After clicking on Log in, Dashlane will require you to authorize access to your account on your computer. Asecurity code will automatically be sent to you by email. For more information on security codes, please click here.
Check your email address for an email from Dashlane, which typically arrives within about 30 seconds. The security code will be sent to the email address you used when creating your account, unless you specified a different contact email address in the "Preferences" section of the application.
Enter the security code you received in the email. Give a name to the device that you'll recognize to make managing your devices easier. To manage the devices authorized to access your Dashlane account, go to My Account > Manage Devices on the web app.
If the security code you received is invalid, you can request a new one by clicking onWhere is my code? next to the "Security code" field and selectingResend.

Since security codes are unique and only valid for 3 hours, please carefully check the time of day we sent it to you to know if you need to request a new one. If you get your security code more than 3 hours after requesting it, even after a few tries, you can change your contact email address as shown on this page.
Then simply attempt to log in to your Dashlane account once again to have a security code sent to this new address. If you need further assistance, please contact us and put "security code problem" in the subject line.
If you do not receive any security code, check that two-factor authentication is disabled.
Further security measures
Two-factor authentication
If you so choose, you can activate two-factor authentication in Dashlane’s preferences.
Importantly, when two-factor authentication is activated, Dashlane will no longer send you security codes by email.Instead, you will be able to get a 6-digit security code from the Google Authenticator app. This code is automatically generated by this application, and changes every 30 seconds. To get that code, you must use a two-factor authentication App such as Google Authenticator on iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod) or Android.
Before activating two-factor authentication,.

Perhaps you wish to allow colleagues access to some of your data in case you can't be reached. Or you're simply worried you'll forget your Master Password, and want to give limited backup access to another user whom you trust.
Dashlane's Emergency contact feature allows you to choose another Dashlane user who can request emergency access to your data. When they do, you'll be notified, and asked if you want to grant that person access. If you don't respond before the end of the defined waiting period, your Emergency contact will be given access to the passwords and Secure Notes that you chose to share.
See these instructions for:

How does it work? Do I need to give my contact my Master Password?
No. You never share your Master Password, and the Emergency contact feature is no exception.
What allows the feature to work is the cryptographic magic of public and private keys. Each Dashlane user has both when their account is created the public key only locks data, and can be shared. The private key only unlocks data, and is kept secret.
Let’s imagine that Adam requests that his friend Betty become an Emergency contact. Betty accepts, and later she requests access to Adam’s account. A copy of Adam’s data is locked using Betty’s public key. So long as Betty satisfies the conditions Adam defined when he set up the feature, she is given that encrypted copy of Adam’s data. Betty (and only Betty) has the private key needed to unlock her copy of Adam’s data.
Does my Emergency contact need to have Dashlane?
Yes. Your Emergency contact must have a Dashlane account for the feature to work.If they don't already have Dashlane, they will have to install Dashlane and must accept the request within the app.
Do I need to be Premium to use the Emergency feature?
No. Anyone with a Dashlane account, free or Premium, can use the Emergency contact feature.
What data can be shared?
Your emergency contacts can be given read-only access to all or only some of your passwords and Secure Notes.Receipts, Payments, Personal Info, or IDs are not included in Emergency access.
Is the Emergency feature available on mobile?
No. To use the feature you must do so through our desktop application. We apologize for the inconvenience. We intend to bring the feature back to Android and iOS in the future, along with other improvements to your mobile experience.
View ArticleWhen you install the Dashlane application on your desktop, Dashlane automatically proposes to install extensions within your browsers. If the application is where your data is stored and where the cryptographic magic happens, the browser extensions are doing all the work when it comes to interacting with the internet, for example when Dashlane autofills your passwords and forms.
So far so good, but how does the application know it's securely connected to the right extension, and the extension to the right application? That's where pairing comes in.
Pairing is a way for both sides of the Dashlane desktop equation to securely establish each other's identity.

Manually pairing the Dashlane application and browser extensions
Should something go wrong
Manually pairing the Dashlane application and browser extensions
Normally the pairing between the application and its extensions happens in the background when you install Dashlane, and is checked every time you open the application. You have nothing to do but enjoy your Dashlane. First-time users might notice the pairing process open and close a window, but otherwise, the process is invisible.
However, there are situations when you will need to manually pair the application and an extension. This happens when you install a new browser, if you reinstall the application or one of the extensions, or if the background authentication encounters any difficulties.
If one of these things occurs, the next time you open your browser, you will see two things appear:
1. A page in your browser with a 6-digit number, such as in the example here.
contact our User Support
2. A popup from your Dashlane application, also with a 6-digit number, as in this example.
Note that when they first appear, the popup may appear over the top of the web page. Simply move it to the side if this is the case in order to see the 6-digit numbers on both the browser page and the popup.
Your job is to confirm that the two 6-digit codes are identical, then click on "authorize" in both the browser window and the popup.
And that's it, you're paired!
Note that some browsers allow you to have multiple user profiles. In this case, one will pair automatically, but you will have to manually pair the others.
Note also that all users installing Dashlane through the Mac App Store will need to go through the manual pairing process. If you don't know if you downloaded Dashlane through the Mac App Store, or else downloaded it directly from our website, click on the "Help" application menu. If you see an option to "Uninstall Dashlane..." at the bottom of the dropdown menu, you downloaded Dashlane directly from our website. If you do not see that option, you are using a copy from the Mac App Store.
Should something go wrong
If you click "authorize" on only one of the two windows, for example by authorizing the popup but then closing the browser by accident, simply quit and reopen your browser to re-start the pairing process.
If you accidentally click on "Cancel" on one of the two windows, cancel the other window then quit and reopen your browser to re-start the process.
Note that if you have disabled popups in your browser, you must allow popups from Dashlane for the pairing process to function properly.
Note also that if your browser extension has been updated but your Dashlane application is out of date when you attempt to pair the two you will be given the following error message.
Please update your Dashlane application to enable proper pairing. Please see our minimum requirements to see if your current configuration is compatible.
Once you have verified that your Dashlane app and extensions are up-to-date, if you encounter any further difficulty, or if you still see different results between the popup and webpage, please .
View ArticleEvery day it seems a new website or service experiences a security breach. Sometimes it's a big name and you hear about it and you even remember to change the password. But many times you aren't informed or you don't get around to changing your password.
In response to these breaches, Dashlane sends its users security alerts. Whenever one of your accounts in Dashlane experiences a breach, you're informed. You receive a pop-up in Dashlane, and a notification on your Identity Dashboard. If you're a Premium user, you also benefit from Dark Web Monitoring, where we scan the dark web for leaked personal data associated with up to five email addresses, and sends you alerts when any is found.
Simply by having your accounts in Dashlane, and setting up Dark Web Monitoring if you're Premium, we can alert you to the problem and tell you what to do to solve it.

How do security alerts work?
Typically, a breach is discovered well after it actually occurred. When we alert you to a breach, the breach itself could have occurred even months before.
We consider your password compromised if you did not change it nor create the account since the date of the breach.
Importantly, in addition to the compromised accounts themselves, Dashlane determines if any of your other accounts use the same or similar passwords, and considers these passwords compromised as well.
You will receive an alert for all of these accounts as a popup when you open Dashlane.
You'll also see corresponding alerts in your Identity Dashboard. The alerts remain in your Identity Dashboard until you either change the affected passwords or else dismiss the alerts.
Click on or tap View to see the details of the alert and take action, otherwise click on or tap the small circle with an Xto dismiss the alert.

What are Dark Web Alerts?
If you are a Premium user, you are able to receive alerts from the Dark Web Monitoring feature.
You're able to monitor up to five email addresses at a time. Dark Web Monitoring scans data from the dark web for personal information attached to those five email addresses. This matters, because if your data is available on the dark web, it may be bought or used by hackers and spammers.
If Dark Web Monitoring finds any of your information,a personalized alert is sent to you detailing what was found, and inviting you to change the passwords for the affected accounts.
An alert is first a pop-up message within Dashlane, but you can also always go to your Identity Dashboard to see your ongoing alerts. As with security alerts, you may click or tap to see the details of the alert and take action, or else to dismiss the alert.
For more information about this feature, read How to set up and use Dark Web Monitoring, or the Frequently Asked Questions about Dark Web Monitoring.

Dark Web Monitoring may also turn up passwords you haven't stored in Dashlane, and for which we can't determine the corresponding account. In this case, Dashlane will inform you of the passwords it found, in the hope that you can identify and secure the accounts to which they belong. Naturally, we invite you to use Dashlane for those accounts, and to make and remember a strong, unique password for each one.

Import passwords from your browser or another password manager
From your browser
Dashlane can import passwords from Chrome and Firefox on Windows, and from Chrome, Firefox, and Safari on Mac.
On Windows
Click on File > Import passwords and select the browsers you want to import your credentials from. Dashlane will show you a list of all the passwords it was able to find in your browser. Select the ones you want to import, then click onImport and the passwords will automatically be added to Dashlane.
On macOS
In the application, select File > Import in the menu bar at the top of the screen and select the browser you want to import your credentials from. You may chooseAll browsers, which will import from all three supported browsers at once.
On Android
On Android, you have the possibility to import the passwords you previously saved in Google Chrome or simply to import a CSV file. For instructions on how to import your passwords to your Android app, please see:
How to import passwords from Chrome on Android
How to import passwords from a CSV file on Android
Dashlane will then display a list of all the passwords that could be found in the browser that you imported from. Select the ones you would like to import and confirm.
From another password manager
Certain password managers allow you to export your data. Dashlane can import passwords from the following:
KeePass
1Password
RoboForm
LastPass
PasswordWallet
If you were using a password manager that's not on this list, but that allows you to export your passwords as a CSV file, you can import them that way. For more information, please refer to this article.
Note that importing passwords from a browser or another password manager is not available on Linux and Chromebook nor on iOS.
Add logins using the Inbox Security Scan on your mobile device
If you're on a mobile device (iOS or Android), you can use Inbox Security Scan to load your accounts into Dashlane.
The Inbox Security Scan scans an email address you provide and produces a custom analysis of the online accounts you created using that address.
Please, refer to this article to find out how to do it.
Add passwords as you browse the web
If you're logged in to Dashlane as you browse the web, when you enter a login and password that isn’t saved in the app, it will ask you if you’d like to save it for future use.
If you visit an account that’s already stored in Dashlane, and you enter a different password than what Dashlane has saved, the app will ask you if you’d like to replace it. This makes sure you always have the right passwords in Dashlane (especially when you reset them).
For more information about using Dashlane in your browser, see here.
Add passwords manually
On Windows and macOS
To add passwords manually, select Passwords from the left-hand menu of the desktop application, and click Add new.
Then, fill in the blanks for your credentials. The "Website", "Login" and "Password" fields are necessary to sign into an account. Click OK to save.
On Android and iOS
For instructions about manually adding passwords to your Android or iOS device, please have a look at Getting started with Dashlane for Android and Getting started with Dashlane for iPhone and iPad.
On Linux and Chromebook
You also can add manually passwords on Linux and Chromebook. Please, refer to this article to find out how to do it.
View ArticleWith iOS, logging in with Dashlane has never been easier. Once you have updated to the latest version of Dashlane and configured your iOS device to use Dashlane as your default password manager, you can access and fill your Dashlane passwords directly within Safari, as well as Chrome, Firefox, and other apps that have chosen to include this capability.

How to set up autofill on iOS
Go into your iOS device's Settings, select Passwords & Accounts, then select AutoFill Passwords.
Once inside AutoFill Passwords, you will see the Keychain and Dashlane proposed for auto-filling. Select Dashlane. We very strongly recommend that you unselect the Keychain. Having both selected will create a confusing and less-effective user experience.
How to log in with autofill on iOS
Once you have Dashlane set up to autofill your passwords, note that your experience may vary slightly if you have more than one account on a website, or depending on how confident your device is about which password you would like to use.
When you have at least one account in Dashlane that matches the website or app
Simply click on the proposed account, and Dashlane will autofill the email and password.Note that the small key icon opens a menu allowing you to select other accounts.
When your device is especially confident it knows which account to use
If your device is confident about which of your accounts you would like autofilled, it will propose that account in place of the keyboard. Note that the keyboard is still available by clicking on the small icon on the lower left, and your other accounts are available by clicking on the small key icon on the lower right.
If your device does not recognize any account in Dashlane that matches the website or app
If you do not have an account for a website or app, or if the account you just tried did not work, your device will propose a generic Passwordsbutton that opens a menu allowing you to select other accounts. Your device may systematically propose this option for some browsers and apps.
View ArticleThe Password Changer feature allows you to change the passwords for many of your websites with one click, instead of having to change them manually.

What is Password Changer and how does it work?
How it works
Password Changer can automatically change the passwords for many of your saved websites by directly logging in to a list of compatible websites, generating strong, unique passwords, then changing the passwords for those sites on your behalf.
Everything is done automatically by Dashlane. You will see the Dashlane window showing the status of each password change and confirmations that your passwords were successfully changed.
Dashlane can also detect two-factor authentication and security questions and allow you to authenticate within Dashlane. If a site requires additional information to change your password, Password Changer will prompt you for it during the password-change process.
How we protect your data
When using the Password Changer, your passwords are always generated locally by the Dashlane application, then encrypted and transmitted securely to our servers.
Notethat the Password Changer requires that your old and new passwords be briefly unencrypted on our servers. This process uses a secure, dedicated server infrastructure, and the information is immediately removed once the process is complete. We have worked to protect the security of your data. See below for more detail.
Sites compatible with Password Changer
Dashlane's Password Changer works on hundreds of websites. The currentfull list is available here.
When hovering over one of your credentials for a website, click on theMore icon on the right and then choose Auto-change password.
here
If you have websites on which Dashlane doesn't offer to use Password Changer, you can click here and check if that site is supported. If a site is not on that list, you can send us your request. We'll add the website to the list of sites we're currently working on integrating. We appreciate your patience!
In more detail
How it works in more detail
To change a password for a particular website, the Dashlane application generates a new, strong password, then sends both the new and the old passwords to Dashlane's servers. This is done using secure WebSockets over SSL/TLS to prevent any man-in-the-middle attacks.
Then our servers try to log in to the targeted website and change your password with the newly generated one. This is done using either a headless browser (i.e. a web browser without a graphical user interface) or a call to an API if the website offers one.
At the end of the operation, our server updates the user with the result. In the case of success, the application updates the current password locally with the new password which was previously generated.
How we protect your data in more detail
The servers that are used by Password Changer are separated from the rest of the Dashlane's server infrastructure. We use dedicated instances and distinct security groups.
Additionally, any sensitive information on our servers (e.g. logins and passwords when signing to sites) is only used temporarily in RAM (random access memory). All information is removed from the RAM right after our servers send the result back to the application. On average, it takes 45 seconds to change a password, or five minutes if our servers cannot reach your application and confirm that the password was changed during the process. This information is never permanently stored on our servers.
For detailed information about Dashlane's security practices, please consult our Technical White Paper, available under "Security resources".

Does Password Changer work on sites protected by Two-Factor Authentication or security questions?
Yes. Dashlane will automatically detect it and prompt you to enter the Two-Factor Authentication code for that site, or the answer to your security questions. None of this information is stored on Dashlane's servers.
To see how to use Password Changer, check this article: How to use Password Changer and on which sites?
Where can I find the list of sites supported by Password Changer?
The list of compatible sites can be found on this page: Password Changer Compatible Sites
Why is a "suspicious log-in attempt" displayed on a site after using Password Changer?
A "suspicious log-in attempt" notification may appear when signing in to a site after using Password Changer, because your passwords are changed through our servers when using the Password Changer feature. This is why a site may detect that you are signing in from another location and display a warning. Password Changer uses our servers to actually connect to the sites in order to update your passwords there.

Checking if your Dashlane Chrome extension is properly installed
If Dashlane does not seem to work in Chrome, despite working in a different browser, or else if Dashlane stopped working completely, you may need to check your extensions to make sure Dashlane is installed. For Dashlane to work, you should see a Dashlane On Windows, do I need to run Dashlane or my browser in Admin mode? icon in your Chrome toolbar, and it should be colored mid-green when you are signed in to your Dashlane account.
Here’s what it should look like in Chrome:
If Dashlane's icon is grayed out, spinning or if there's no icon at all, something has gone wrong. In this case, you likely should reinstall your browser extension, and we'll show you how.
But first, make sure that your extension is not disabled in your browser's list of add-ons or extensions.
Open the Extensions page by right clicking on the Dashlane logo in your browser and selecting ManageExtensions in Chrome.
Alternately, copy and paste this into the address bar to open the Extensions page:chrome://extensions
If the Dashlane extension is already active there, please try closing and reopening Chrome, as well as disabling and reactivating the extension.
If it still does not work, or if the extension is simply missing from the toolbar, here is how to re-install the Dashlane extension in Chrome.
How do I reinstall my Dashlane extension?
First, note that if you are on Linux, Chromebook or if you use our extension in Standalone mode on Windows or macOS, we strongly recommend that you do not uninstall the Dashlane extension from your browser, unless you can confirm that your data is synced properly by logging in to your Dashlane account in the web app on a different device and making sure that all your passwords and notes are there. If you have any doubt, please contact our Support team.
In order to uninstall the extension from Chrome, please go to the Extensions page as shown in the previous section. From there, please click the Remove button below the Dashlane extension and confirm.
After that, open Dashlane and go to the Extensions menu. On macOS, you'll need to go to the Dashlane menu and select Install browser extensions in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Choose Manage Chrome Extension in the list. This will let you install the extension in Chrome. It will open up Chrome and from here, you can click on theGo to Web Storebutton and follow the steps there in order to add the extension to Chrome.
The extension should be up and running now.
Check that Dashlane is working in Chrome
To check that your extension is properly working, please visit any website on which you used to have Dashlane autofill your information. Below isan example of what you should expect.
You should see two Dashlane D icons in the login form.
If you do not see anything in the fields, please check that your Dashlane extension is enabled and active and press CTRL R (Windows) or CMD R (Mac OS X) to refresh the page.
In our example, the Dashlane D icons will be dark green if you already have an Outlook account, or gray if you do not have one. For more about the significance of the Dashlane icon colors, please refer to this guide.
If the extension is installed and enabled but you still have autofill issues, please refer to this guide.
Installing Dashlane for another person in Chrome
To install the Chrome extension for another person in Chrome, close all the Chrome windows except for that person's window or windows.
Then open the Dashlane application:
On Windows, select the menu in Extensions > Manage Chrome Extension.
On Mac OS X, select Dashlane > Install Browser Extensions > Manage Chrome Extension.
Lastly, click on Go to Web Store and follow the steps there in order to add the extension to Chrome.
Problems with your browser extension?
If the Dashlane icon disappears after (re)installing the extension
Are you signed in to your Google Account when you use Chrome? If you are, please try signing out of your Google Account, then install the Dashlane extension again, and lastly sign in again to your Google Account.
To do so:
Go to the Settings in Chrome. Alternately, you can copy chrome://settings into the Chrome address bar and press Enter.
Disconnect your Google Account by clicking the Turn off button.
Install the Dashlane extension again. Please refer to the previous sectionsif needed.
Sign in again to your Google Account, again from the Chrome Settings.
Running Dashlane in administrator mode (Windows)
It is recommended not to launch either Dashlane or your browser in admin mode. Please refer to the following guide in order to know how to make sure this is not the case for you.
View ArticleOn iOS, when you delete an app from your device, any application data is also deleted. This means that all your local account data for Dashlane will be deleted from your device.
This is not a problem if you have a Premium or Dashlane Business subscription, as your encrypted data is saved on our servers and synced between all your devices. Just make sure you have sync enabled in your account. Click here to see how.
If you are planning to delete theDashlane app from your iOS device, we recommend to check first that the same datathat is saved on your iOS device is properly synced and can be found on our web app. The Dashlane web app is a read-only view of all the passwords and secure notes that are saved in your account. To sign in to your account on the web app, please click here.
However, if you either:
have a Free account
have disabled sync on your devices
or do not see your iOS passwords and secure notes on our web app
you won't be able to load your data back into Dashlane once you reinstall the app on your device.
In this case, do not delete the Dashlane app from your iOS device.
Note that iCloud does not back up your Dashlane data.

Who can use it
This feature is available to all Android users, Free, Premium, or Business, who have a version above 6.1943.2, and who have a device that offers biometrics compatible with the Dashlane app.
In order to be able to use this feature to recover your Master Password, you will have to have previously enabled it in the settings of the Dashlane app.
How to activate the feature
Please remember that, in order for you to enable the Reset Master Password with biometrics feature, you first need to have enabled "Biometric unlock" to log in to your Dashlane account. For more information on how to enable biometrics for your account, please have a look at the following article: How to set biometric authentication or PIN code to unlock Dashlane on Android.
Once "Biometric unlock" is enabled for your account, you will be able to activate "Master Password reset" in the settings of your Dashlane app. To do so, please go to the Settings, then Security and finally tick the switch to enable "Master Password reset."
U2F
Note that whenever a new fingerprint is added to the biometrics settings on your device, this automatically disables the biometric lock and the Master Password reset with biometrics feature. You will have to enter your Master Password at your next login and re-enable both features. This is done to ensure the security of your Dashlane account.
How to recover your Master Password
Once you have enabled the Master Password reset, and are prompted within the next 14 days to enter your Master Password, if you enter a wrong one you will be offered the option to "reset your Master Password."
If you have 2FA or enabled, you will still be able to use this feature. However, you will first have to enter the code from your authenticator app or use your U2F key before continuing with the following flow.
To do so you will first have to authenticate with biometrics.
You will then be able to choose a new Master Password and recover your account.
Free users, or users with automatic sync disabled, should remember that when they change their Master Password, they will lose access to the Dashlane data on any other devices they use. For Premium users or users with activated sync, after changing your Master Password you will need to re-authenticate all other devices with a new code when next logging in.
And you're all set!

When we visit social media, consult our bank accounts, or communicate with friends and family, we can't always wait until we're at home or on a trusted network.
Or maybe we simply prefer our internet service provider or online companies not track our every move online.
A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, addresses these concerns.
Contents
What is a VPN?
Why should I use a VPN?
When and how do I use Dashlane's VPN?
What is a VPN?
As its name suggests, a Virtual Private Network is about privacy. It creates a network, or a closed system of communication between you and the VPN provider. And that network is virtual because, unlike a "real" network, there is no preexisting, dedicated infrastructure.
Some people are familiar with VPNs already through their company or school, as using one is sometimes necessary to gain access to those institutions and their resources.
But many people simply use a VPN to protect their privacy and improve their security on unsecure networks. This is where Dashlane's VPN comes in.
Why should I use a VPN?
In many cases, your access to the internet, be it at home or at work, is safe and secure.
But when you're on the move and use free or unfamiliar networks such as in airports, hotels or cafes, you're opening yourself up to your data being observed and potentially stolen. This is especially true if you visit web addresses using “http”, not “https”, or access an email account using unsafe protocols. A VPN allows you to go online through a secure connection even when you're on an unsecure network.
When you're on the internet, you're anything but anonymous. Your IP address is public information, and locates yougeographically.Using a VPN means that your internet traffic is routed through the VPN provider. So instead of your own IP address, your traffic now reaches the internet from the location of the VPN's server. Additionally, your service provider cannot see what websites you're visiting, since the traffic through the VPN is encrypted.
Dashlane’s VPN allows you to choose the location of the server you are routed through. For performance reasons, if you allow the VPN to automatically assign the server it will connect to the nearest server it can, most often in the same country or region as you are located.
No history is kept of your browsing through Dashlane's VPN. For more detail about how Dashlane's VPN respects your privacy, see our FAQ.

Checking if your Dashlane Firefox extension is properly installed
If Dashlane does not seem to work in Firefox, despite working in a different browser, or else if Dashlane stopped working completely, you may need to check your extensions to make sure Dashlane is properly installed. For Dashlane to work, you should see a Dashlane D in your Firefox toolbar, and it should be colored when you are signed in to your Dashlane account.
Here’s what it should look like in Firefox:
this article instead
If Dashlane's icon is grayed-out, spinning or if there's no icon at all, see the instructions below on how to reinstall your extension, which will usually solve the problem.
First, please first make sure that your extension is active in the add-ons / extensions list of your browser. In Firefox, go to > Add-ons.
Alternatively, just type this in the address bar to open the Extensions page: about:addons
If the Dashlane extension is already active, please try to close and reopen Firefox, or to disable and reactivate the extension.
If it still does not work, or if the extension is simply missing from the toolbar, here is how to re-install the Dashlane extension in Firefox.
How to reinstall your Dashlane extension
First, note that if you are on Linux, Chromebook or if you use our extension in Standalone mode on Windows or macOS, we strongly recommend that you do not uninstall the Dashlane extension from your browser, unless you can confirm that your data is synced properly by logging in to your Dashlane account in the web app on a different device and making sure that all your passwords and notes are there. If you have any doubt, please contact our Support team.
In order to uninstall the extension from Firefox, please go to the Extensions page as shown in the previous section. From there, please click the Remove button below the Dashlane extension and confirm.
After that, open Dashlane and go to the Extensions menu. On macOS, you'll need to go to the Dashlane menu and select Install browser extensions in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Choose Manage Firefox Extension in the list. This will let you install the extension in Firefox. It will open up Firefox and from here, you can click on Install,Allow and finally Add in order to add the extension to Firefox.
The extension should be up and running now.
Check that Dashlane is working in Firefox
To check that your extension is properly working, please visit any website on which you used to have Dashlane autofill your information. Below we took live.com (for Outlook) as an example.
You should see a Dashlane D in the login form.
If you do not see anything in the fields, please check that your Dashlane icon is enabled and active and press CTRL R (Windows) or CMD R (Mac OS X) to refresh the page.
In our example, the Dashlane D will be dark green if you already have an Outlook account, or gray if you do not have one. For more about Dashlane D colors, please refer to this guide.
If the extension is installed and enabled but you still have autofill issues, please refer to this guide.
Problems with your browser extension?
If Firefox says that Dashlane is incompatible but you're using the latest public release of Firefox, don't worry. You just have to update Dashlane!
For Windows
Open Dashlane and select Tools > Check for Updates.
For Mac OS X
Update on Mac OS X by checking for updates in the Mac App Store or by opening Dashlane and selecting Dashlane > Check for updates in the top bar menu.
Running Dashlane in administrator mode (Windows)
It is recommended not to launch either Dashlane or your browser in admin mode. Please refer to the following guide in order to know how to make sure this is not the case for you.
On Windows, do I need to run Dashlane or my browser in Admin mode?
How to customize the Dashlane extension to appear in your Firefox toolbar
If your Firefox toolbar has not been customized to show our Dashlane extension, the latter could be missing from the toolbar although it's properly installed and enabled in the Add-ons section. Our extension should normally appear by default in your Firefox toolbar, however it could indeed be missing if you manually removed it from the toolbar, for instance.
If needed, please follow this little clip from Mozilla to check how to add an extension to your toolbar. Make sure to do that with the Dashlane extension!
If that doesn't help and your extensionstill doesn't appear in your Firefox toolbar, please refer to .

How does Dashlane scan the dark web? Does it use a third-party provider?
Dashlane's dark web service scans more than 12 billion records attached to hacks and data breaches, with almost a million new records added every day. The dark web data we use is housed entirely within Dashlane's servers. That means each dark web scan is performed internally and no data is ever passed from Dashlane to a third party, including the email address(es) you scan using Dashlane's Dark Web Monitoring. Dashlane partnered with a leading online intelligence company named SpyCloud to provide the dark web data.
Is my email used for anything other than the dark web scan?
No. Your email address is only used to perform the dark web scan. For your security, no email address can be scanned without the owner of that email address verifying they wish to have the scan performed.
What does the dark web scan search for?
The scan searches for the provided email address, and alerts you when it finds that email address, or leaked personal information linked to that email address such as passwords, bank account numbers, social security numbers, etc.

View ArticleTo install Dashlane, you can either download it directly from our website or you can open the Mac App Store and install Dashlane from there.
If you choose to install it from the Mac App Store, there are two steps to installing Dashlane on your computer.
If you are using an older version of macOS, please visit our Minimum requirements page to see if your OS version is supported by Dashlane.

Extra step for Firefox
If Dashlane does not work in your browser
If you are running an earlier version of OS X Mavericks
If you are running Safari
If nothing happens when trying to install the browser extensions
Step 1: Installing the application
download and install Dashlane again here
Open the App Store from the menu bar. Then search for Dashlane and install it.
The Dashlane application is always free on the Mac App Store, even when reinstalling or updating. If you see a Buy button instead of Install or Get, click it and it will install or update Dashlane for free.
If you have a Premium subscription for your Dashlane account, you will not be charged again when installing or reinstalling from the Mac App Store. Your subscription is linked to your Dashlane account and not directly to the application.
You will have to sign in with your Apple ID and password to download Dashlane from the Mac App Store.
When Dashlane is installed, open the Dashlane application from your Dock or Launchpad and create a new Dashlane account (or log in to your already existing Dashlane account with your registered e-mail address and Master Password).
If you create an account, make sure that you remember your Master Password for security reasons, we will not be able to send you a new one!
After creating a new account, you will see several introduction windows. Click on Next at the bottom right to move through all of these.
If you have been storing your passwords in your browser, then one of the windows will let you choose and import the passwords stored in your browsers. You can skip this step if you like, but we recommend that you do not store your passwords in your browsers since doing this is not secure.
Note that importing your passwords from your browsers to Dashlane might create duplicates if you have the same login stored on several different browsers. Outdated logins might also be imported. Make sure you uncheck any passwords that you don't want to import into Dashlane, though you will be able to clean this up later in Dashlane. Click on Import.
Step 2: Installing the browser extensions
After you install Dashlane, your system's default browser will open and automatically show you the installation page for the Dashlane extension. Follow the steps and click the button Open Preferences to Enable Dashlane and then click Allow to download and install the Dashlane extension in your favorite browser.
If you do not wish to install Dashlane in this browser, simply close the tab and confirm you want to leave the page. Also make sure that the tab is not reopened automatically by your browser after you quit it.
If you prefer to install the Dashlane extension manually or in other browsers, open the Dashlane application and select Dashlane > Install Browser Extensions in the menu bar at the top of the screen and choose your favorite browser here.
A new tab will open in this browser to install the Dashlane extension. Click the green button Add it now. Finish set up! on that page and confirm you want to install our extension in your browser.
If you cannot find the tab, please check your open tabs or follow this guide: How do I enable Dashlane in my browser?
The Dashlane extension will be downloaded and installed in this browser and it will pop up in your browser toolbar.
Make sure you see the Dashlane icon in your browser toolbar: it must be green on Chrome and Firefox and black on Safari.
If the icon is grey instead, then first check that you are signed in to your account in Dashlane, and refer to this page: How do I enable Dashlane in my browser?
Extra steps for Safari 7.1 and higher
When installing the Safari extension, a page will open in Safari. Click on Install it now.
Then click on Install to confirm you want to install the extension in Safari.
The Dashlane icon will pop up in your browser toolbar, showing that the extension has been properly installed and is now active.
Extra step for Firefox
When you open up Firefox for the first time, you will see the installation page for the Dashlane extension.
In your browser toolbar, a pop-up will warn you that Firefox blocked the installation. Click Allow to authorize the installation of the extension.
Then click on Install now on the second window to confirm.
If you don't see this screen, please check your open tabs or follow this guide: How do I enable Dashlane in my browser?
If Dashlane does not work in your browser
If you are running Safari
If you do not see the Dashlane icon in your Safari browser, it may have been disabled by Safari. To check if the extension is properly enabled:
Open Safari and select Safari > Preferences in the menu bar at the top of the screen. Then select the Extensions panel and select Dashlane in the list and tick the box next to the Dashlane logo.
If Dashlane is not in the list, you can reinstall the Safari extension following these instructions:
Open the Dashlane application
Select Dashlane > Install browser extensions > Manage Safari extension in the menu bar at the top of the screen
A new page will open in Safari (if it doesn't open, please click here and open this page in Safari ); click on Open Preferences to enable Dashlane.
Click Allow to confirm you want to install the extension in Safari.
If nothing happens when trying to install the browser extensions
If you downloaded Dashlane from the Mac App Store and if you cannot find how to make the extension work in your browser, then please try the following steps:
If you have a Free account and if your account is not Premium, open the Dashlane application and select File > Export Data > Dashlane Secure Archive in the menu bar at the top of the screen. Save this file somewhere onto your hard drive. If anything goes wrong, you can still import this file back into Dashlane to recover your data.
In Dashlane, uninstall all the browser extensions by selecting Dashlane > Install browser extensions in the menu bar at the top of the screen, then click on "manage" for each browser for which you've installed the Dashlane extension, and follow the provided instructions.
Log out of your Dashlane account by selecting File > Logout
Quit all browsers and quit Dashlane (using / Command + Q).
Then go to Launchpad and click and hold on Dashlane until you see a little cross in the top left corner of the icon. Click on this to delete the application.
Now go to your /Applications folder on your hard drive using the Finder and move the Dashlane application (if any) to the Trash.
Restart your computer.
Lastly, .
If Dashlane still does not work in your browsers, please open the Console application located in your /Applications/Utilities folder on your hard drive and check if there are any errors there.
View ArticleSome password might get duplicated for various reasons (they were imported twice, clicking "save as new" on the web instead of "replace", synchronization conflicts, etc.) but, most of the time, Dashlane will try merging passwords that have the same URL, login and password.
Having duplicate passwords can lead to very bad situations such as being locked out of the corresponding online account or just impairing the usage of Dashlane on the web.
To avoid this, please follow the instructions below:
Open the Dashlane application, preferably on a Windows or macOS computer, and log in to Dashlane.
Locate the duplicate passwords in the app, either by searching manually or using a keyword in the search bar.
Name every duplicate of the same online account differently by editing the Name field (which should be filled with the website's domain by default).
Go to the corresponding website and click in the log in fields.
Dashlane will show the different names and you can then select each of them one after the other to determine which ones work and which don't.
Go back to the Dashlane application and delete the passwords that didn't work on the website.
This is the easiest way to get rid of duplicate passwords that don't work, and avoid being locked out of your online accounts because of too many failed log-in attempts.
Click here to know how to delete several credentials at once. It will help if you have a large number of duplicates to get rid of.
View ArticleWhen opening your Dashlane account on a new device, or when signing in to the web app on our site, you will be asked to authenticate the access with a 6-digit security code or with your two-factor authentication code.

If you are using the 6-digit security code sent to your email address
By default, a 6-digit code is sent to your email address. Note that your contact email address can be changed from inside the application on Windows (using the Tools > Preferences>Account menu) and Mac OS X (using the Dashlane>Preferences>Account menu).
What you can do if the security code does not work:
Try with a new security code. You can get a new security code by clicking on the Resend button on the login box, or by quitting Dashlane and trying to open your account once again.
Also check your spam or junk mail folder in case the new security code ended up there.
Please refer to this article for more info: How do I use my account on a new device, or after reinstalling my computer?
If you are using the temporary code generated by your two-factor authentication app
contact us
You need to keep your Dashlane entry in the two-factor authentication app so that you can get a new code every time you log in or add a new device. Make sure you are using the code for Dashlane and not for another app.
If you don't have this entry in your two-factor authentication app anymore, then you need to disable your two-factor authentication using one of these two methods:
When you set up your two-factor authentication, you were invited to save the ten back-up codes that were generated and displayed at the end of the process. You can use one of these instead of your two-factor authentication code to log in to Dashlane again. Note that a back-up code can only be used once.
To get more backup codes, please enter your email address directly on this page or copy and pasting this link: https://www.dashlane.com/otpphonelost_codes. We will automatically text more backup codes to your backup phone number.
Once you have these backup codes, here is how to disable two-factor authentication:
Open Dashlane on the desktop application (Windows or Mac OS X)
Enter your Master Password and click on Log in
Depends on which setting you chose for two-factor authentication, if required on the next window, use one of the backup codes
Then open the preferences in Dashlane (using the menu Tools>Preferences on Windows, or the menu Dashlane > Preferences on Mac OS X) and go to the Security tab
Click on the lock icon at the bottom left to be able to edit the preferences
Disable two-factor authentication here and use a second back-up code to confirm
Note that two-factor authentication cannot be disabled on iOS or Android for now.
If you're still having trouble logging in or you need your account unblocked, please .

When enabling two-factor authentication, ten back-up codes are generated that you can save somewhere safe. These codes can be used to replace any one-time password for your account, instead of using your two-factor authentication application to generate one.
lost phone
You can use these back-up codes to log in to Dashlane or to disable the two-factor authentication itself, depending on the setting that you chose when enabling it.
Note that a back-up code can only be used once. Each time you disable and re-enable two-factor authentication for your account, all of your past back-up codes and one-time passwords (generated by your two-factor authentication application) will no longer work. Once generated, you must use the new codes, so don't forget to delete the old ones to avoid confusion.

Why isn't Dashlane working properly on a specific site?
Please check this list if Dashlane is not autofilling a page or a site correctly:
Please make sure that Dashlane is working in your browser. You should see the Dashlane icon in your browser and it should be dark green to show that you are logged in (except in Safari, where the icon must be dark gray).
Check that there is a Dashlane D icon in the fields. A gray Dashlane D means we have detected the field but Dashlane does not have this data in your Dashlane account yet. A dark green Dashlane D means that Dashlane has detected the field and you do have the data needed to fill it.
You have tried logging in to this site from another browser (if possible) or by closing and reopening your browser.
You have tried refreshing the page.
Please check that the site is not one of the following formats that we do not support yet:
A Flash site Right-click the login field to see if it's Flash or not or SilverLight.
A form with a virtual keyboard (also referred to as an on-screen keyboard) We can only provide limited support for those forms. On most websites, if you already have a credential in Dashlane, (click here to find out how to achieve that) we will autofill your login. We won't, however, be able to autofill the password or click the login button, as those actions are meant by the site to be carried out manually. NB: If even this "best effort" solution is not working for you, please submit a ticket with the name of the site. We will fix it as soon as we can.
A page with a captcha code Dashlane cannot autofill captcha codes since these are temporary codes, generated by the site.
Note that for security reasons, Dashlane will not automatically fill in your information in an iframe, though you can manually trigger Dashlane to do so.
How to fix issues with Dashlane on a specific site
Report issues via the Web extension
If you are still unable to get Dashlane to work properly with the field, you can use our browser extension to report this site! Please note that this is available for Chrome, Firefox and Safari (not for Internet Explorer yet).
Go to the page where you're having a problem filling in the fields with Dashlane.
Click on the Dashlane icon in your browser and go to the second tab, forThis website.
Here, you can click on Report an issueto send us your site.
Now you can choose the Type of issue. For example, you can pick Incorrect autofill of my data from this list if Dashlane is putting the wrong info in a field.
Please also add a short description of the issue on this page or site. You can decide whether you want to add a screenshot and HTML file of that page. This will help us fix the issue a lot quicker!
Make sure you don't have any personal information on the page before clicking on Send. This will send us your description and the URL of the page so that we can look into this!
Customize Dashlane's autofill in your browser
If you use the Dashlane web extension, and you come across a website or page that Dashlane cannot analyze or did not analyze properly, you can change the information type you want to fill into a field yourself. The next time you come to the site, it will remember your corrections. Even better, the feature learns over time so that you benefit from updates other Dashlane users are making.
If Dashlane autofilled the wrong information on one or multiple fields, simply click on this field and you should see a new option called Experiencing an autofill issue? Fix it now. Click it, and you will then be able to choose a new information type that Dashlane will then use in order to autofill your data. For instance, in the clip above, Dashlane autofilled a phone number into a First name field. In order to fix it, choose the Identity information type, then First name. You will see the change apply instantly!
Important information:
You will not be able to choose the actual data that Dashlane will autofill - only the information type. The information autofilled will be based off the information stored into your Dashlane account
Once you choose a new information type to autofill, Dashlane will remember this change on this device and browser, and you will not have to edit it once again
In the list of data types, you can choose an option called Nothing. Please be very mindful with this option: if you choose it, Dashlane will no longer autofill your data on this particular field
View ArticleOn Android, Dashlane can autofill the two-factor authentication codes you receive by SMS when logging in to other applications.
How it works
How to use it
How it works
Your online accounts are already protected by a password. Two-factor authentication, or "2FA," is an additional layer of security proposed by many online accountssome websites even require it. With 2FA, when you create or log in to an account, you are asked to enter a one-time code that's sent to you, either by SMS, or else provided by an authenticator app on your mobile device.
Receiving the code by SMS can be inconvenient. You may have to wait to receive the SMS, then open your text messaging app, copy or remember the one-time code, then type or paste the code into the service you're trying to use.
So tomake this process faster and easier, Dashlane retrieves and autofills the code for you.
In order to be able to use this feature you need to have Android 8.0 or higher and ensure autofill is enabled on your mobile device.
Importantly, Dashlane cannot and does not read your text messages. The feature leverages the Google Play Services app, installed by default on all Android devices. This service can detect and retrieve 2FA codes within SMS messages. When a code has been detected, Google Play Services passes that codeand only that codeto your Dashlane app so that it can use it to autofill the code for you.
How to use it
The first time you create a new account, or log into an account that requires 2FA on your Android device, you’ll see a small popup asking if you want Dashlane to do the work for you.
At this point, your device's OS will require your authorization for Dashlane to retrieve the code. Please note that if you decline the authorization, you will not be prompted to autofill SMS codes by Dashlane anymore. If you declined the authorization by mistake, you can also activate the feature in the Settings of your Android device by going toGoogle, thenVerification Code Autofilland enabling the feature there.
Once you have clicked on the form box shown above, Dashlane will retrieve the one-time code from SMS.Clicking Autofillwill then fill the code automatically.
And you're all set!

1. Save your passwords to Dashlane
When you are first getting your Dashlane account set up you don't need to add all your passwords right away. We have a few quick ways you can get started by bringing over passwords from other places you have them saved. You can add your most-used passwords by using one or all of the methods described below.
Method 1: Savepasswords as you browse the web
Are you on a mobile device? If so, you’ll find that the process works a little differently. Please visit our pages for Android or iOS users to learn more.
Make sure your Dashlane browser extension is installed and you're logged in to Dashlane. If you’re using Chrome, Firefox or Edge, the Dashlane D will be dark green. From the Safari browser the Dashlane D should be dark gray.
How to use Dashlane to find out how secure you are
If you are not sure you have the extension orif it is not working properly, please click here.
Browse the web and log in to sites as you normally would. Once you have the extension set up, any time that you log in to a sitethat isn’t yet saved in Dashlane, you will receive a prompt asking if you’d like Dashlane to save that password for future use.
Click Savewhen Dashlane asksif you want to store your password, and you'll be able to use Dashlane to automatically log in next time!
Note that if you log in toan account that’s already stored in Dashlane with a different password than what Dashlane has saved, the app will ask you if you’d like to replace it. This makes sure you always have the correct passwords in Dashlane (especially when you reset them).
Method 2: Run the Inbox Security Scan on your mobile device
The Inbox Security Scanscans an email address you provide and produces a custom analysis of the online accounts you created using that address. You may be surprised by just how many accounts you have!
Some new users are automatically prompted to try out the scan. But if you weren't prompted or skipped the process at the time, you can launch it by tapping on Inbox Scanfrom the Tools menu on iOS or in the main menu on Android.
See How to use Inbox Security Scan to load your accounts into Dashlane for more details.
Method 3: Import saved passwords from your browser or another password manager
On Windows
When you first log in to your Dashlane account you’ll see an option to automatically import passwords saved to your browser, but you can manually import them if you need to.
Open the Dashlane application from the Windows menu (or from the Dashlane shortcut on your Desktop)
Select File> Importfrom the menu bar
On macOS
Open the Dashlane application located in your Applications folder (can also be found in your Dock & Launchpad or by using Spotlight)
From the menu bar, clickFile> Import
Select any browsers you'd like to import credentials from. You may also import from other password managers from this menu.
iOS and Android
At this time, data cannot be imported from iOS or Android browsers. Please use Dashlane on Windows or macOS to import data from your browsers, from another application or from a CSV file.
You can import passwords at any point during your Premium Trial, but otherwise Free Dashlane accounts will not see these options, as free accounts are limited to 50 stored passwords. If you are using Dashlane Premium or Premium Plus, there is no limit on the number of passwords you can save.
Method 4: Add passwords manually
Open your Dashlane application and select Passwordsfrom the left-hand menu.
Click Add newor tap+ if you're using the mobile app.
Fill in the blanks for your credential. You’ll want to include the Website,LoginandPasswordfields as these are necessary to sign into an account.

Now that you've added your credentials to Dashlane, you can log in to all your web accounts with one click.
When you visit a website, look for the dark green Dashlane D logo in the login fields (if the Dashlane logo is gray, you’re logged out or do not have that credential saved yet).
When you click into a field, Dashlane will display a drop-down list for you to choose the credentialyou want to use.
Once you've selected the login you want, we'll autofill the password linked to it. For example, if you click in the "Username" field, select your email address or username and let us do the rest.

Updating weak or reused passwords
The internet can be both easier and more secure. Update any weak or reused passwords, and let Dashlane do the hard work of remembering complex, unique passwords for all of your accounts. We have a few tools that will help you do this.

Note that when a wrong PIN code is entered three times on iOS or Android, Dashlane then asks for the full Master Password.
Removing access to your account on one of your devices
For added security, you can remotely disable Dashlane on any device by signing in to your account on the web app, clicking on "My Account" in the bottom left corner of the page, and on "Manage Devices".

Local backup vs. Sync (online backup)
If you disabled Sync in Dashlane (or are using the free version of Dashlane) and would like to back up your data to be sure not to lose anything in case your device stops working we recommend using the Dashlane secure archive format.
When using this format, all your Dashlane data are saved into one simple archive file protected by your Master Password. Keep this file in a safe place (on a USB key or on an external hard drive) and make regular backups. Note that you will have to use Dashlane again to import and restore your data from this file. Keep in mind that Dashlane will always remain free to use, so it should not be a problem!
Note that if you want to use Dashlane on more than one device (including mobile devices) and access your passwords and notes on the Web app, we strongly recommend to use Sync so that all your data are automatically synced between all your devices and computers. When Sync is disabled, your data will remain on your device only.
Sync is very easy to use and will work in the background without even you noticing it. It is the best way to be sure you will never lose your data.
Find more info on synchronizing your data using our services here.

Why use sharing?
Sharing data in emails or texts is not secure but using Dashlane's Sharing Center is.
Each time you share a password or any sensitive information by email, the information is copied in plain text in:
The 'Sent' folder in your email provider's inbox
The 'Sent' folder on all other devices connected to your inbox
Your email provider's servers
Your recipient’s email provider's servers (which may actually include several different locations and data centers)
Your recipient’s computers or devices
Sharing this information through instant messaging apps also is not secure, as the information is oftennot encrypted and is sent in plain text on the network. This means your information can be read by the company running the messaging service and conversations are also generally saved in the history by these applications.
However, by using Dashlane's Sharing feature, your data is securely encrypted before even being sent over the internet. Please see the Security and Privacy section of this article for more details. For more information on security and encryption, please click here.
How to share
There are two ways to share your data with another Dashlane user:
From the item you want to share
To share an itemwith someone, simply locate the item from either the Passwords or Secure Notes sections of your Dashlane app and double-click on the item to reveal the full details. Next, click on the Share icon at the top. Alternatively, you can simply right-click and click Share.
Enter the Dashlane email address of the person you are sharing with and clickNext. Please note that you can choose between two permission settings:Full RightsandLimited Rights.
Full Rights: The recipient can see, use, edit, and share the password. Note that the recipient can also edit sharing rights, so revoke the sharing rights of other users who were shared this item, including you.
Limited Rights:The recipient can use this password, but cannot securely share it nor edit its sharing rights. The recipient cannot modify the password directly within Dashlane, though the password will be updated if Dashlane detects it being changed outside of Dashlane. Within Dashlane, the password is presented as a series of dots, but keep in mind that this hides the password only from a casual or accidental observer. If determined to do so, a technically savvy recipient is able to reveal the password.
Dashlane Free vs. Premium
Once you've shared an item, the recipient will receive an email from Dashlane and receive an alert in theSharing Center to accept access to this item.
You will notice that any shared items will have a specialicon underneath it, telling you that this item is shared with one or several other people. You can click on See details to see with whom you are sharing this item.
Using the Sharing Center
You can share Passwords and SecureNotes directly from the SharingCenter. From there, click on the green Add new button at the top of the window.
Select the items you want to share and the people you want to share with by manually entering them or clicking the down arrow button to the right.
Next, choose between two permission settings, Full Rights orLimited Rights, and click Send.
Once you've shared an item, the recipient will receive an email from Dashlane and receive an alert in the Sharing Center to accept access to this item.
Shared items management
After a Password or Secure Note has been shared with you and you were granted Full Rights over the item, you will then have the same rights over this data as its creator. This means you will be able to:
Edit the Password or Secure Note (by doing so, this will update the item for all users it has been shared with)
See with whom this has been shared (from the Sharing Center)
Revoke the sharing rights of any or all users (when revoking access, Dashlane remotely deletes data from other computers at the next launch)
If an item is shared with you and you delete it from your Dashlane account, the item will not be deleted from its creator's Dashlane account.
Do I need to be Premium to share?
No, you don't need a Premium subscription in order to use Dashlane's Sharing feature. However, if you're using theFree versionof Dashlane, you can only share a maximum of five items with each user. For example, if you share two items with a user and they share three items with you, you both meet this maximum of five items per user.Premium users have unlimited sharing.Read more here:.
Revoke a user
If you shared something with the incorrect user, the email address included a typo, or you change your mind later, you can revoke access from the Sharing Center. Locate the user you shared the item, click on the shared item, and then click on Revoke accessto stop sharing this item with this user.
Security and privacy
For each Dashlane user, we created:
A unique public key saved on Dashlane's servers. When records are shared the recipient's public key is used for encryption (asymmetric).
A unique private key which is directly saved in your Dashlane account and encrypted in your Dashlane settings. This is known exclusively by you and never shared or transmitted to others. This key works even for free users who don't have the sync feature because your account settings are synced across all devices even if you don't have Premium. This private key is used to decrypt data exclusively. Please note that your private key is different to your Master Password. Your private key is encrypted with your Master Password and stored in the settings of your Dashlane account (along with all of your other saved sensitive data). This private key is synced over to other devices in the same way as your encrypted data is. We never send your Master Password over the internet.
Both keys are generated together and are meant to work together because they only work in one direction. One can never be used to replace the other. Even with access to your public key, one would still need access to the private key in order for decryption to take place.Shared data is encrypted with the recipient's public key, but can't be decrypted with the public key.

On Android
You can use the U2F feature on Android, either with the NFC feature by touching your Yubikey to your phone, or else by plugging your USB key directly in to your phone.
Using NFC
To be able to use the NFC U2F feature with Dashlane, you will first need to make sure that you have a mobile device with NFC capability enabled and an NFC Yubikey.
The easiest way to check if your device has NFC capability is to look for the small NFC tile in your quick settings menu.
Two-Factor Authentification
Otherwise, go to Settings and verify if NFC is among the other connectivity options like WiFi or Bluetooth.
Once you have verified that your device has NFC capability, and you have added a U2F key to your account, open Dashlane on your Android device.
After you have entered your Dashlane ID, the screen shows that U2F authentication isavailable with the logo of a little Yubikey on the right of your screen.
Remember that if you do not have your Yubikey with you or do not have the possibility to use it, you can always enter the code from your two-factor authenticator app on the line to the left of the Yubikey logo.
At this point, simply touch your Yubikey to the back of your device so it can recognize your key, and you will see the second authentication screen where you will be prompted to enter either your Master Password, your PIN or your fingerprint, depending on the settings you chose for your account.
Note: You should unplug the Yubikey right after you used it, as it disables the Keyboard and otherwise you will not be able to type your Master Password.
Using the USB connector
If you do not haveNFC capability on your Android device, you can still use your Yubikey by plugging it into your phone with the USB plug, either directly or with an adaptor.
Once you open Dashlane, and after your email address has been entered, the screen shows that U2F authentication isavailable with the logo of a little Yubikey on the right of your screen.
At this point, plug in your Yubikey.Be sure to plug it in with the correct orientation, or else the key will not be recognized and nothing will happen!
Once your device recognizes theYubikey, it will prompt you to allow it to be used for authentication.
After you allowed your device to use the key, you will get this pop-up message saying your key was recognized. At this point, tap on the button or gold disk on your Yubikey. You should feel a slight vibration of your phone when the key is recognized.
You will then be shown a second authentication screen where you will be prompted for either your Master Password, your PIN or your fingerprint, depending on the settings you chose for your account.
On iOS
You can use the U2F feature on iOS by plugging your Lightning Yubikey directly into your iPhone or iPad.
Please note that on iOS we currently only support Yubikeys with a lightning port and that are plugged directly into your iOS device. If you plug a USB Yubikey into your iOS device with an adaptor, it will not be recognized.
Once you open Dashlane, and after your email address has been entered, the screen shows the screen, where you are prompted to enter your verification code. Here, you will have the possibility to tap on Use security key inthe bar at the top of your keyboard.
Remember that if you do not have your Yubikey with you or do not have the possibility to use it, you can always enter the code from your two-factor authenticator app on this screen.
Note: You will be shown the Use Security key message as soon as you have the U2F feature activated for your account and a Yubikey registered, even if the key is not a lightning Yubikey, as there is no way for us to know which type of key you registered for your Dashlane account.
At this point, you will be prompted to plug your Yubikey in and authenticate by touching the gold buttons on each side of your key.
When the Yubikey is recognized, you will see the message just above the keyboard change and switch to "Authenticating".
Finally, you will be shown a second authentication screen where you will be prompted for either your Master Password, your Touch ID or Face ID, depending on the settings you have chosen for your account.
View ArticleEvery day it seems there are more breaches and hacks, some big, some small. Dashlane already alerts all of its users to publicly known breaches. But Dark Web Monitoring, available with Dashlane Premium, is a tool designed to constantly scan the web for your compromised personal information, and to allow you to take action to secure your accounts after a breach.
As its name suggests, Dark Web Monitoringscans the web for any leaked personal data and sends you alerts, so you can take immediate action to protect your accounts. You're able to monitor up to 5 email addresses. For each email address, Dashlane runs an initial scan that turns up all currently findable instances of personal information related to that address.
The kinds of personal information typically identified include usernames and passwords, credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, phone numbers, and postal and IP addresses.
After the initial scan, whenever anything is turned up, the results of subsequent scans are communicated to you via email, via popups within Dashlane, and finally through Dark Web Alerts on your Identity Dashboard.
These alerts will prompt you to change your affected passwords, which are also then listed as compromised passwords in the Password Health section of your application.
Note that Dark Web Monitoring is currently not available on the web app.

Setting up Dark Web Monitoring
On your Identity Dashboard, locate the Dark Web Monitoring module (see here for more information about the Identity Dashboard). Before it is set up, you are prompted to enter in an email address you would like to use for a scan.
here
Enter one of your addresses you would like to scan, and click Start monitoring.
Once you have entered the email address you wish to use for the scan and clicked Next, Dashlane will send a verification email to that address. You may close this popup once you've seen it.
Your next step is to log in and click on the link within that email, once you have verified that it is indeed your account, that you made the request, and that you wish to confirm the setup.Note that for security reasons this link is valid for only 24 hours.
As always, if you should have but did not receive the email, please check your spam folder.
When you click on Yes, I confirm this request, you will be taken to a web page with your Dark Web Scan results.
Your initial Dark Web Scan results
If you are fortunate enough for your scan to have found zero hits on your data, this is great news! The page will propose that you perform the scan using other email addresses.
Otherwise, you will be shown a page like the one below, indicating the number and kinds of your data that were found by the scan, and especially to which accounts they were linked.
You are encouraged to change the passwords of your compromised accounts by clicking on Take action in Dashlane now.
Your Dark Web Monitoring alerts
Once Dark Web Monitoring is set up, you can always find the email addresses for which the monitoring is active by checking in your Identity Dashboard. Remember, to activate an email address you must verify the account through the email we send you. Before this has been completed, the email address will be marked "pending".
Once an address is active, your Dark Web Monitoring will constantly search for your compromised data, and will send you both an email and an in-app alert whenever it finds any. You are alsoalerted in the Security alerts module of your Identity Dashboard on the right side of the application if there are any.
An alert will remain in your Identity Dashboard until you change the compromised passwords. You can also choose to dismiss the alert by clicking on the small X in the upper right-hand corner of the alert.
