  • First, we're sorry that you're in this position. Life throws curveballs and we want to help (that's why we created Dave). But since we can't offer advances without getting paid back, it's important to make your full payments on time.

Can I change my payback date?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer extensions. Your payback date is "set" once you confirm and sign for your advance in the app.

If your payback date isn'tcorrect, please message us before accepting the advance.

    Don't have the funds?

Before we collect the payment, we'll check your bank account balance to make sure that it's safe to withdraw.

Then, Dave will attempt to collect the fundsevery day with partial or full payments, but it is still your responsibility to make a payment.

  • Need an advance on your next paycheck to help protect you from potential overdraft fees? Dave can help! To get an advance on your paycheck, we just need to verify the following:

You have connected your checking account to Dave

Your employer deposits your income into your checking account on consistent dates

You’ll have enough funds after your next paycheck to pay Dave back

To do this, we look at the last two months of transactions in your checking account to confirm your income. So make sure you connect Dave to the checking account where your income is regularly deposited.

Next, check that you have your paychecks set up as direct deposits and that your transaction history shows at least two paychecks on consistent dates (ex. getting paid on the 15th and the last day of the month).

Lastly, we want to make sure you’ll be left with sufficient funds after paying Dave back after your next paycheck.

  • Dave lives off of tips, kind of like a waiter but with fur. So, while tipping is optional, it’s greatly appreciated!

Tips allow us to help people without charging the insane interest rates of most banks. Dave charges 0\% interest.Compare that to the3,250\% APR your bank charges for overdraft fees!

What about the $1 monthly membership? Most people don’t know that we get fees for providing you this service. Connecting to your bank, getting your balance updates, sending you texts if you’re about to overdraft these all cost us money. We use the $1 monthly membership fee to offset some of these costs. So, your tips are really what keep our lights on!

Plus, we donate a tree for every \% you tip through our partner, Trees For The Future ( www.trees.org ). Trees aren't just good for the environment -- Trees for the Future greatly benefitentireeconomies in Sub-Saharan Africa. Your donations help families transition from destructive farming techniques to a sustainable agricultural practice that empowers and sustains them for generations. Not only would planting a tree by yourself cost more, but by donating a tree through us, you're literally saving lives. Want to know more? Check out our article on Trees.

Feeling inspired? Make like a tree and leave a tip.

    How to Tip

Once yourequest an advance, you'll be taken to the tip screen.

Click on the amount you want to donateor click Custom Tip Amount. If you selected a Custom Tip Amount, use the slide bar to set your percentage

    Click Thank You

    Default Tip

To update your default tip amount, follow these easy steps:

    Click on theAccount tab

    Click Edit default tipunder Settings

Click on the amount you want to donateor click Custom Tip Amount.

    Click Thank You

    Want to change your tip?

No problem! As long as you contact us before your pay date, we can change your tip amount for you. Just send us a message and we'll get it sorted out.

Unfortunately, once your advance is paid back, we can no longer change the tip amount.

  • We offer automatic and manual payback options!

    Automatic

We'll automatically collect the amount due on your payback date (which falls on your next payday).

The funds will be pulled from the card that was advancedOR if the funds aren't available or the card is no longer active, we'll collect directly from the connected bank account.

We’ll check your balance beforehand to make sure it’s safe, so make sure your bank is connected to Dave. If not, we won’t be able to check your balance for safe collection.

    Manual

Want to pay us back early? That’s awesome!

You can pay us back manually by going to the "Account" tab and reviewing the "Advances" section and selecting the current advance.

If you choose to do a partial payback under Pay Other Amount, the rest of your advance will be automatically pulled from your account on your original payback date.

Once the full amount of your payback fully processes (1-3 business days), you're free to request another advance!

  • Dave costs just $1 a month!

Did you know that the average cost of overdraft is$34? If Dave helps you avoid just one overdraft, that pays for nearly 3 years of Dave subscription!

Why the $1 a month fee?

Each time we connect to your bank account, send balance updates, and text you about overdraft danger, we get charged fees. Your membership fee helps us offset those costs.

What do you get for $1 a month?

A supercharged bank account! With your subscription, you get access to our predictive algorithm that helps you identify upcoming expenses, prevent overdraft, and better manage your finances.

    When do you get charged?

Your subscription fee will be charged on your first paycheck date of the month if funds are available. If funds are not available on that date, we'll attempt the charge each Friday after that until we're successful.

Please note: You may see multiple months collected at once, you can find what may cause that here

Want to check when you'll be charged? Easy!Just follow the steps outlined here.

Need to cancel your membership? Here's an article on how to deactivate your subscription.

Heads up! Deleting the app does not unsubscribe you from our monthly subscription.

The $1 monthly subscription fee is strictly to connect your bank account to the prediction tool and does not have an association with advancing.

  • Hmm. Have you tried refreshing your account by tapping on your bank logo in the top left of your home screen?

If you still don't see your transactions, we could be experiencing a lag with your bank.

We rely on banks to send us your information but sometimes, with smaller banks and credit unions, there are delays. Most banks send us data in less than 30 minutes but others can take hours, days, or might not send us anything at all.

Daves helps you budget for upcoming expenses and texts you if you’re in danger of overdraft. And if you need cash fast, we’ll advance you up to $75 at 0\% interest! No credit check required.

    Security

Tips are optional but they do help us provide services to millions of other Dave members. So, if Dave helped you out with an advance, show him some love!

Plus, with every \% you tip, we plant a tree or provide a meal to a child through our partnerships with Trees For The Future and Feeding America.

What’s the catch? There isn’t one! A $1 per month membership fee provides you with potential overdraft protection through cash advances, automatic budgeting tools, and access to jobs.

Membership fees are just $1/ month. This helps us offset the costs of offering predictive texts and connecting to your bank (we get charged every time we connect).

    Predictive Texts

Dave securely connects to your checking account to help you track your expenses. Then, we’ll send text alerts if your account looks low or if an upcoming bill (like Netflix) puts you in danger of overdraft.

    Advances

Need cash fast? Dave can spot you one advance at a time.

Qualified users can get up to $75 delivered into their checking account in just a couple of days or even hours (for a small fee if you choose our express option).

Getting an advance doesn’t impact your credit and there are no late fees or penalties (we’re friends, remember!).

However, it’s your responsibility to pay Dave back by your due date, which will be confirmed in the app. Otherwise, you’ll risk being banned from the app. And no one wants that!

Heads up! The $1 monthly subscription fee is strictly to connect your bank account to the prediction tool and does not have an association with qualifying for an advance.

  • What does this mean?

We found that most users with more than -$75 in their bank accounts were unable to pay us back successfully on their next paycheck.

To help us and our users avoid nasty Non-Sufficient Funds fees, we decided to implement this restriction to keep your balances safe.

    What should you do?

If you're back below -$75 and need to avoid an overdraft, go ahead and request again!

  • Your $1 membership fee will be charged on your first paycheck date of the month if funds are available.

If funds are not available on that date, we'll attempt to charge the fee each Friday after that until we're successful.

It's super easy to check when you'll be charged next:

    Head to theAccountsection in app

    Under Dave Membership clickManage membership.

Heads up! The $1 monthly subscription fee is to connect your bank account to our prediction tool (so we can text you alerts) and isn't related to advancing your paycheck.

  • What does this mean?

It looks like we weren't able to find consistent income in your checking account to qualify you for a regular advance.

Either your income didn't meet our advance income requirements, or there's something wonky going on with your bank account (like inconsistent paydays or delayed direct deposits) -- which we can help you out with!

    What can you do?

    1. Make sure your income meets our advance requirements outlined HERE.

If you don't meet our income requirements yet,you can still manually add your income in the app for budgeting purposes and might still qualify for a smaller advance amount.

    2. Message us if you meet our income requirements and you're still getting this error message. Sometimes, accounts just need someold school human help and we're here for you.

  • What does this mean?

Looks like your card is expiring soon. Check your expiration date -- if your card expires in up to three months or less, we can't process an advance.

    What should you do?

You'll need to get a new debit card that doesn't expire for at least up to three months. Then, you can easily update your card in the app by following the steps here: How to Update Your Debit Card
