Mr. John Couling has been Senior Vice President of Commercial Partnerships at Dolby Laboratories, Inc. since October 11, 2016 and served as its Senior Vice President of E-Media Business Group until October 11, 2016. Mr. Couling served as Senior Vice President of E-Media at Dolby Laboratories, Inc. Mr. Couling is responsible for the expansion of Dolby technology into the world of connected devices and content services. His global team addresses a market measured in billions of consumer products sold each year and the multiscreen, over-the-top and mobile content services and aggregators that service them. He is responsible for revenue generated from PCs, game consoles, mobile phones, tablets and digital media adaptors. During his tenure, the E-Media group has grown Dolby's presence in the online space through partnerships with operating system and mobile-handset chip makers, premium content providers and leading consumer electronics companies. In previous leadership roles at Dolby, he has managed the team responsible for product management across all of Dolby's product lines, as well as worldwide business development. He joined Dolby in 1997, working from the United Kingdom as an applications engineer with some of the early DVD producers in Europe and Asia. He went on to help secure Dolby technology in digital TV standards in Europe and Australia and then became part of the group to develop the Dolby cinema server presentation system. He holds a BS degree in astrophysics from the University of Bristol.
