Previously, he served as Senior Vice President of Carolinas Delivery Operations for the Duke Energy Cop's regulated utilities, where oversaw the operations of electric distribution system in North Carolina and South Carolina, including construction, maintenance, engineering, and resource and project management. He served as Vice President - Distribution of Duke Energy Progress, LLC from January 2005 to June 2006. He served as Senior Vice President of Energy Delivery of Duke Energy Florida, Inc. from May 2006 to January 2, 2008. He served as Senior Vice President of Energy Delivery-Progress Energy Florida at Progress Energy Inc. from June 2006 to December 2007. He served as Vice President of Distribution of Progress Energy Inc., where he oversaw the operations of the Duke Energy's electric distribution system in North Carolina and South Carolina, including construction, maintenance, engineering, and resource and project management. He has 32 years of experience in the electric utility industry in a variety of engineering and leadership roles. He spent the first 17 years of his career with Dominion-Virginia Power before joining Progress Energy in 1999. He is a active in the community and the power industry. He serves as Chairman of North Carolina Symphony Society Board of Trustees. He serves as a Director of North Carolina New Schools. He served as a Director of Duke Energy Progress, LLC since 2008. He served as a Director of Duke Energy Florida, Inc. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in North Carolina and Florida.
