Mr. Michael A. Lewis has been Senior Vice President and Chief Distribution Officer Duke Energy Corporation since September 2016. Mr. Lewis oversees the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Duke Energy's electric distribution systems for the company's six-state service area, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. He has more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry. he served as Duke Energy's chief transmission officer, where he had oversight of the electric transmission system consisting of more than 32,000 miles of transmission lines and 3,000 substations. His responsibilities included construction and maintenance, engineering and asset management, system operations, resource and project management, planning, vegetation management and compliance. He served as Senior Vice President, Energy Delivery of Florida Power Corporation ('PEF') from January 2008 to 2012. He previously served as Vice President, Distribution, PEF, from August 2007 to January 2008; Vice President, Distribution Engineering & Operations, PEF, from December 2005 to August 2007; Vice President, Distribution Operations & Support, PEF, from April 2004 to December 2005; and Vice President, Coastal Region, PEF, from December 2000 to April 2004. Mr. Lewis has been with PEF in a number of engineering and management positions since 1986, including District Manager, Distribution Operations Manager in Pasco County, General Manager for the South Coastal region and Regional Vice President of both the North and South Coastal regions. Mr. Lewis holds a bachelor's in electrical engineering from the University of Florida and a master's degree in business administration from Nova Southern University.
