Executive Bio

Mr. Phil Grigsby serves as Vice President of Commercial Transmission and Strategy at Duke Energy Corporation. Mr. Grigsby served as Senior Vice President of Midwest generation portfolio at Duke Energy Corporation and served as its Vice President of Business Development. Mr. Grigsby serves as vice president of Commercial Transmission and Strategy, Policy and Integration, leading Duke Energy's Commercial Transmission group ' including Pioneer Transmission, a joint venture between Duke Energy and American Electric Power that builds and operates extra-high-voltage transmission lines and related facilities in Indiana and DATC. Having served in this role since October 2009, Grigsby assumed additional responsibility for the Commercial Strategy, Policy and Integration groups in December 2010. He served as senior vice president of Midwest Generation Portfolio for Duke Energy since February 2008. He was responsible for the company's commercial generation business in the Midwest and support of regulatory and legislative initiatives in Ohio. He served as vice president of Commercial Power Business Development and was responsible for unregulated power generation asset development and structured transaction origination. He began his Duke Energy career with Trunkline Gas Company in 1988 in the Gas Supply department. He joined the Corporate Strategic Planning group for PanEnergy in 1993 and was named project manager for PanEnergy International Development in 1994. Following the merger between Duke Power and PanEnergy in 1997, Grigsby was promoted to director, Northern Latin America. In that role, he led efforts to develop natural gas and power projects in Peru, Bolivia and Venezuela. Grigsby later served as vice president of Trading Operations for Duke Energy North America and as group general manager of Commercial Development for Duke Energy International'Asia Pacific, based in Sydney, Australia. He was responsible for all natural gas and power generation asset development for Duke Energy in the Asia Pacific region. He worked at Exxon Company USA in the Production Geology department, from 1981 to 1988. Mr. Grigsby holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from Houston Baptist University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston.
