He has been Manager, Chief Accounting Officer, Senior Vice President of Duke Energy Florida at Duke Energy Florida Project Finance, LLC since 2016. Mr. Currens has been the Chief Accounting Officer, Senior Vice President and Controller of Duke Energy Corporation since May 16, 2016. He serves as Chief Accounting Officer, Senior Vice President and Controller of Duke Energy Progress, LLC, Duke Energy Indiana, LLC and Duke Energy Florida, LLC. He serves as Chief Accounting Officer and Controller of Piedmont Natural Gas Co. Inc. Previously, he served as a Vice President of Investor Relations at Duke Energy Corporation from 2008 to May 16, 2016. He served as a Director of Investor Relations at Duke Energy Corporation and served as its Director of Financial Forecasting from 2012 to December 31, 2013. Mr. Currens joined Duke Energy in 2002 as its Manager in the Corporate Controller's organization. Prior to joining Duke Energy, he spent more than nine years with the public accounting firm KPMG LLP. He has nearly 20 years of financial experience including over five years in investor relations. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Currens holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
