Barbara E. Mathews — VP, Associate General Counsel, Chief Governance Officer & Corporate Secretary at Edison International

Ms. Barbara E. Mathews serves as the Chief Governance Officer, Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Southern California Edison Company and Edison International. Ms. Mathews has been Secretary, Chief Governance Officer and Assistant General Counsel at Mission Energy Holding Company since June 2001. She served as an Associate General Counsel of Edison International and Southern California Edison a subsidiary of Edison International since August 1996. She served as assistant general counsel of Edison International and Southern California Edison from August 1996 to April 2002. Ms. Mathews is responsible for the corporate governance and finance and the contracts and intellectual property areas in the Law Department. She serves as Chief Governance Officer and Corporate Secretary of EIX and SCE. She joined the Law Department in 1996 as an assistant general counsel of SCE and EIX. Prior to that, she served as Partner in the law firm of Arnold & Porter, where she served in the Los Angeles, Washington DC and Denver offices. She began her legal career as a law clerk for the Hon. Helen J. Frye, United States District Court Judge for the District of Oregon. She is a member of the board of directors at the National Organization of Parents of Blind Children. She also serves on the Special Education District Advisory Committee for the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. Ms. Mathews received a B.A. in political science from Colorado College and a J.D. from Catholic University Law School.
