Executive Bio

Mr. Michael D. Montoya serves as Vice President and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer of Edison International. Mr. Montaya serves as Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer and Vice President at Southern California Edison Company. He is responsible for the ethics, employee awareness, Helpline and investigation elements of the company's ethics and compliance programs, including the Ethics and Compliance Code. Mr. Montoya served as an Associate General Counsel at Southern California Edison Company. and was responsible for legal matters in the areas of labor and employment, customer and tariffs, power procurement and resource policy and planning. Mr. Montoya served for nine years as manager of the Customer and Tariff section and later the Resource Policy and Planning section of the law department, responsible for overseeing legal matters involving resource adequacy, the Long-Term Procurement Plan, the California Renewable Portfolio Standard, the Distributed Generation Rulemaking and energy efficiency programs. He joined the SCE law department in 1992 as a staff attorney. Prior to joining SCE, Mr. Montoya practiced with the Los Angeles law firm of Kane, Ballmer & Berkman where he gained extensive experience in the area of municipal and redevelopment law. He also practiced with the Los Angeles law firm of Knapp, Petersen & Clarke. Mr. Montoya serves as a Director with the Pasadena Glen Community Services District. He also serves as a trustee for the Mexican American Bar Foundation. Mr. Montoya earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Cal Poly Pomona.
