Executive Bio
Michele Kawiecki currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for First Merchants Corporation and First Merchants Bank. Her career with First Merchants began March 2015 as Director of Finance. In 2017, Michele assumed responsibilities for facilities. In 2021, Michele was promoted to Chief Financial Officer.
Prior to joining First Merchants, Michele spent 11 years with UMB Financial Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri. Her roles at UMB included having served as Senior Vice President of Capital Management and Assistant Treasurer for 4 years; Director of Corporate Development and the Enterprise Project Management Office for 3 years; and, Chief Risk Officer for 4 years. Prior to UMB she worked for PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP as an Audit Manager.
Michele is active in the Indianapolis community serving as a director for Children’s Bureau, Inc. and IU Health Suburban Hospital Region. Her previous service in the community includes Financial Executives International Indianapolis Chapter, MOCSA, and Ember Hope.
Michele earned both a Master of Science in Accounting and an Executive Masters in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Bachelor degree in Business and Accounting from Dakota Wesleyan University.
