Mr. James A. Sears, also known as Jim, has been the President of Maryland Operations at FirstEnergy Corp. since May 13, 2013. Previously, Mr. Sears served as Director of Operations Services - Mon Power at FirstEnergy Corp. until May 13, 2013. Mr. Sears began his career with FirstEnergy Corp. He joined Allegheny Energy in 1989 as a distribution planning engineer for West Penn Power. In 1992, he returned to Ohio Edison as a distribution design engineer. After holding various operational positions, he advanced to manager, Engineering Services for Ohio Edison, in 2002. He served as Director, Regional Operations Support for Ohio Edison since 2008. He was an engineering co-op student at Ohio Edison while attending The Ohio State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
