Q&A With Fortegra Employees

Fortegra employees answer questions about what life is like behind the scenes at their company, including queries about culture, leadership, professional development, and compensation.

How employees describe working at Fortegra

I work with wonderful people and earn wonderful pay to provide wonderful services. I love it here. Lunch is free. Working in the office, best thing ever for an extrovert in a world where many jobs are WFH, I love it.

Again I would like a users manual it would be so nice to have a hard copy to be able to refer too

I have had a positive experience so far

I love the mentorship and opportunity to grow and develop my skills.

Lack of communication between departments and from management to employees. Low pay and high turnover. Leadership positions filled from outside making there no room for career advancement within the company.

  • It really depends on the department. Overall it's quite high but like any call center, there is some stress there based on the nature of the job. In the IT and Software development departments you'll see quite high morale.

  • Depends on the department. In the Novi office there is probably the most diversity overall but in the Jacksonville offices, you'll see people from many different countries, an even split of male and female employees. Most of the work force is either right out of school or in their mid-30s or later. There is a pretty high percentage of minority employees as well.

  • It's pretty straightforward. Depending on teh time of year it may go really quickly (immediately) or it could stretch a week or two. They are very fair and reasonable and particularly in IT, you have some of the best people you could work with /for. Interviewing is like everything else there when you work for good people.

  • Make sure that your resume is in order. Make sure that if you say you can do it, you can do it. They don't try to trick you and interviews are really straightforward. It's a No BS environment so if it's on your resume they assume you are ready to speak about it.

Asked to the Engineering Department at Fortegra

  • It's laid back. As long as you do your job you'll have a good time and they are very accommodating. If you do your work you'll be able to get things done in 40 hours a week, maybe less at times, maybe a little more at others. Slow and consistent gets the job done and they have a firm belief in Measure Twice cut once. If you do that and make sure to rely on the management you'll have an easy time.

Asked to the Engineering Department at Fortegra

  • It's a pretty friendly place to be. There are many companies under the Fortegra umbrella so the needs vary. The VP and Director really know what they're doing. They like to hire good people, make sure they have what they need and let them excel. They don't micromanage. It's a collaborative environment with a reasonable amount of oversight and they are very open minded with respect to learning and supporting new technologies.

  • It really depends on the department. Depending on the role and the time you may have a phone screen and then an in-person or a few in-person ones. The higher the position the more people you need to meet. In general i'd guess you are in for 1-2 hours for your in person although for executive roles it could take as much as 1/2 a day on a few occassions.
