We may receive Data about you from third parties, including Enterprise Customers (e.g. customers of our Media Products) and/or third parties with services that interact with the Consumer Services or that provide services to us, such as unaffiliated apps and websites (e.g., websites and applications offered by third party developers that integrate with our API, referral partners, advertising exchanges, ad platforms, ad networks or from our partners), and from other business partners, including third parties from whom we license data. How Is My Data Used?
Below are the ways that we use Data about Foursquare Users.
To Operate, Maintain And Improve The Consumer Services
We use your Data to operate and maintain the Consumer Services, and to understand you better and tailor the Consumer Services to you. If you download more than one App, we combine your Data provided in each App. If you use the Consumer Services when you are not logged into your Foursquare account, when you subsequently log into your Foursquare account, we combine Data collected while you were not logged in with your Foursquare account.
We also use your Data for research and development, to improve the Consumer Services, or to offer new products, features and tools, and to infer certain details about you, including demographic information and whether separate devices are owned by you or by members of your household, but only to the extent that this is in compliance with applicable law. For example, we may redesign the Apps to make it easier for you to search for restaurants in Foursquare City Guide or to earn points or rewards in the Panel App from Placed. We also use your Data to customize our Apps and Sites to provide you with your own personalized experience. We do this by inferring your interests and preferences, looking at your search history, or in the Foursquare Apps, by allowing you to find and add friends who are also using the Foursquare Apps and Sites from your devices contact list or, if applicable, your Facebook, Google or Twitter account, if you have opted to connect these accounts to your Foursquare account. In these situations, we do not store your contact lists.
We also use your Data to help us map Locations (as defined below). For example, we may use device signals to determine that a particular device is within a particular venue. Additionally, if you consent to sharing crash data (when the Apps crash) with us, we may use that data to help us analyze the cause of the crash.
Communicate With You
We use your Data to communicate with you, including by email, text (only if you opt-in), or in our Apps, about new product offerings, updates to the Consumer Services, or anything else we think may be of interest to you. To opt out of receiving Foursquare marketing and promotional communications, please click here and follow the instructions. To opt out of receiving Placed marketing and promotional communications, you can follow the instructions contained in those messages.
When you opt out of marketing and promotional communications from either Foursquare or Placed, please note that we may still send you non-promotional communications, such as those about your account or any ongoing business relations.
Contests and Rewards
We may use your Data and completed surveys to enable you to earn points. You may redeem your earned points for rewards or sweepstake entries. If you elect to enter a sweepstakes, we will use your email address and name associated with your account to run the sweepstake and fulfill the prize to you.
Protection Of Our Rights
We may use your Data to protect the rights, property or safety of Foursquare, the Consumer Services, our users and employees, or any third party. For example, we may use your Data if we need to enforce or apply our Terms of Service or Policies.
Enterprise Services
We use your Data in our Enterprise Services and in other services that we may provide to businesses. For example, we may identify where you shop and the places you visit to help our partners measure the success of a media campaign, to categorize your mobile advertising identifier in an interest-based segment based on where you shop or visit, or when partners use our SDK, we may receive certain Partner End User Data back (e.g., wifi end points, Visit Data, and other Data), including Data about Foursquare Users, if the Partner End-Users are also users of our Consumer Services. We may use this Data for our business purposes or to improve the Enterprise Services. As always, you can always opt-out of this type of sharing by disabling your background location services for the Apps. See also Media Products section of Part III below.
Where GDPR applies to the processing of your Personal Information, we rely on several legal bases. These include:
When the processing is necessary to perform our contract with you, such as our Terms of Service. This may include providing you with our Consumer Services or tailoring the Consumer Services to your preferences;
When the processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests (or those of our Enterprise Customers), including but not limited to, improving the Consumer Services, or understanding how users are using our Apps and Sites, providing our Enterprise Services and other services to businesses, marketing new features and other services that may be of interest to you;
When you have given us your consent, including as described in this Privacy Policy. You may withdraw your consent to processing at any time using the settings on your device or in your account;
When we have a legal obligation to do so, as described in this Privacy Policy.
When Is My Data Shared?
We may rent or sell certain Data about you as further described in our privacy policy or when you have given us consent to do so.
Data That May Be Shared With Other Users
When you use the Foursquare Apps and Sites, your authorized friends may see some of your Personal Information, such as your name, email address, phone number associated with your account, profile photo, hometown, mayorships and badges/stickers, and links to your Twitter and Facebook accounts (if you have connected those accounts to your Foursquare account), a list of your friends, a map of your check-in history, any content or comments that you post, and which Apps you use. When you communicate on or through the Foursquare Apps and Sites, such as by direct messaging to your friends or checking-in to a business, an establishment, or a location (each a Location), such as a gym or a restaurant, your friends may see this Data, too. You can always control what you want visible to others, including your friends, at any time by clicking on Settings in your account and making your choices.
Publicly available Data such as the Data available in your user public profile, tips, likes, saves, public photos, lists that you create and follow, tastes, badges/stickers, mayorships, and lists of friends and/or followers may be searchable by search engines and be shared with or disclosed to third parties, including through our Enterprise Services to our partners and customers.
Data That May Be Shared With Third Party Partners And Service Providers
We sometimes use service providers, vendors and contractors to provide or perform services on our behalf. These include providers who host our data or help us provide a better service to you. In these cases, we may need to share your Personal Information with them. Our service providers, vendors and contractors will be subject to contractual obligations to: (i) only process the Personal Information in accordance with our prior written instructions; (ii) not use the Personal Information for their own purposes; and (ii) use appropriate measures to protect the confidentiality and security of the Personal Information; together with any other additional requirements we have or that are available under applicable law. These service providers, vendors and contractors are in the following categories:
cloud storage providers located in the United States, such as Amazon Web Services and MongoDB, which store your personal data that you provide to us, and for disaster recovery services;

analytics and search engine providers, such as Branch, mParticle, and Google, which store your personal data in the United States that assist us in the improvement and optimization of the website.
When we partner with a business, we may share Data with them but only in aggregate or in some cases, we may share an ID such as an advertising identifier. We share such Data so that our partner can measure conversion as to whether an individual has seen its ad, visited its website, or went to its brick and mortar location. When such Data is shared with our partners to measure conversion, the Data is blurred so that your detailed location trail history cannot be retraced or identified. We may also share or disclose aggregated or anonymous Data to other third parties, including Foursquare Users you may follow, and developers who use our API or SDK, or our other Enterprise Customers, for analytical or other purposes. See also Media Products section of Part III below.
When You Consent

We sometimes offer contests through the Consumer Services. In these cases, we partner with a third party to fulfill the prizes. If you have entered a contest, we will only share your contact information or other necessary information,
Other times
We may share your Data when we believe in good faith that such release is necessary to comply with law or a legal process, including laws outside your country of residence; to protect our rights, property, or safety of Foursquare, our employees, the Consumer Services and others.
We may share your Data as part or in anticipation of a business sale, merger, consolidation, investment, change in control, transfer of substantial corporate assets, reorganization, liquidation, or similar business transaction or corporate event.
Determining and Sharing Location
Some features and functionality in our Apps may require that you provide your location. If you have your location services turned on, whenever you open and use or interact with our Apps (e.g. write a tip, check in to a restaurant, or take surveys to earn points or receive other benefits) on your mobile device, we collect and use your location data from your mobile device (e.g., latitude and longitude) to tailor the Consumer Services to your current location (i.e. well show you a list of nearby locations) or to invite you to participate in a survey). We will only process your location data with your express permission. If you have persistent background location data turned on by granting us permission through your devices location settings and in your privacy settings, we will obtain your devices location even if you are not directly interacting with the Apps. Your location data is never shared with others, except with your consent or as permitted under this Privacy Policy.
In the Swarm App, your location is also shared to your approved friends and to us when you "check in" on the Swarm App to let the Consumer Services know that you're at a particular Location or, if you have turned on 'check-in by friends,' when your friend tags you in his or her check in. Additionally, when you send a message in Swarm, your mobile device's location is shared with all recipients of the message. While your location will still be collected by us, you can check-in off the grid so that you are not sharing your specific whereabouts with friends.
Each of your check-ins using the Consumer Services is saved to your "Check-in History," which allows you and your friends to look back at the locations where you have checked in since you created your account. You can delete any of your check-ins from the check-in page in our Apps. If for any reason you ever decide to delete your Data, your account and your Data will be permanently deleted from the Consumer Services.

View ArticleFAQ and Style Guide for translated placenames
Weve introduced the ability for users (currently SU8+) to suggest translated names for venues in any language. As with any venue edit, if it needs to be reviewed, it will appear in the info queue for SUs to review.
What is a translated venue name?
This feature allows us to help travellers identify places in their native language, with an extra emphasis on non-romanized languages. Traditionally, weve handled this by changing the entire venue name and adding another language in parenthesis. Since were moving to a more programmatic approach, we wanted to set a few guidelines for the community when suggesting translations.
Only translate places that have a distinct name in another language.
For example, Whole Foods is a brand name grocery chain. Theres no spanish equivalent, sodon'tsubmit Alimentos Integrales as a translation. A good rule of thumb is to follow the businesss signage. Wearen'tlooking for translations for every venue in the world. A local food stall/ coffee shop may only be known by one name, so leave it at that.
Youdon'thave to tag a venues language if there is only one translation.
Its just extra, unnecessary work for you ;)
Im so excited to translate! Where should I start?
With venues like major world landmarks, big tourist attractions, places where its beneficial to the largest number of people. Think big! Againdon'ttranslate just for the sake of translation. Make sure that youre only translating if a venue is known by different names in different languages.
If there is only a romanized name of a non-roman name, it should be tagged as "English" not the local language. Even if it's not "translated" into English.
For example, the Chinese name "" literally translates to "Green Street", but since signage usually gives the pinyin (transliterated) "Jitu ld" or just "jietou ludi" we should use that and label it as English (since it's relatively comprehensible and useful to an English speaker)
How should I handle an existing venue that already has a translation listed in the name?
Take Coffee World and paste it into the name choose English and click add name.
Take and paste it into the name, choose Thai and click add name. Do not set the language at the top of the page next to the original venue name. Click Submit at the bottom of the page.
Now, when viewing the venue on the web you will see the following:If theres a translation that matches your language, you will see that translation.
Otherwise, we will try to show you an English/romanized name.If the primary language of the country does not match your language, and we have a translation in that language, you will see it in addition to the most readable name we found for you.

Here are some tips on how to be the best Foursquare photographer possible:
Keep photosrelevant: Ask yourself "Would this be helpful to someone considering going to this place?" Pictures that show off food, ambiance, or other great things about a place are awesome. Your receipts? Not so much.
Keep photosappropriate. (You know what we mean!)
Quality is key: Attention to lighting and composition will get your photos noticed - and maybe even featured on our blog.
Originality: be yourself! Stealing somebody elses photoisn'tcool. Get creative and have fun with it!
What Not to Post
Any of the below can result in your photo being removed from Foursquare

Keep in mind that all pics posted to Foursquare City Guide are public

From there, Foursquare Marsbot can send you suggestions about great places to eat and drink that are worth seeking out nearby.

What changed since the policy was last updated?
Since our last update (September 2019), we acquired Placed, LLC, and as such, weve combined the Placed Privacy Policy and Foursquare Privacy Policy into one policy. Additionally, were always striving to make our policy is as clear as possible. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].
What we think about when we think about privacy
The Foursquare and Placed apps are centered on location, and we're proud to have millions of users who trust us and find our apps useful. We know an important concern for most anyone using location-based services is privacy. We want everyone to feel comfortable that their trust has been well placed, which is why we've written this description of our privacy ethosthe guiding principles that inform how we develop our Services and the decisions we make. Our full Privacy Policy is available here.
The Placed apps allow consumers to earn rewards and points for sharing their whereabouts and answering surveys about their visits. These rewards and points may be redeemed for gift cards, donations, and frequent flier miles.
The Foursquare apps are meant to help you make the most of where you are and we do our best to give you privacy options where we think you'll want them. If youdon'twant to share this kind of information, youdon'thave to, but that means wecan'tpersonalize your experience.
To make it easier for you to understand how your information is shared on our Services, at the bottom of this page youll see exactly how your privacy settings can be adjusted.
Determining location for those who use our consumer services
Foursquare's apps deal with location, so in order to work best, the apps need to know your location. We use various technologies to determine your location, such as the location services of your operating system or browser and sensor data from your device (e.g. GPS data) that may help us to understand your precise location. Unless you choose to share it with others by adding friends, the information about your whereabouts is concealed from other app users. Because our apps are location-centric, when they are installedand at various other timesthey prompt users to select location permissions, depending on the type of device.
Sharing location
Our apps use location information in different ways. For example, real-time location is not shared on the Foursquare City Guide app. If you write a tip, like, or otherwise interact with a place, users may infer that you have been to that location. Some content is time stamped and other users could use that information to infer when you were at a place even though tips can be posted later, onceyou'vedeparted.
If you use Swarm to check in, or, if you have turned on 'check in by friends,' your location is shared with your approved in-app network. If you want to check in without sharing your specific whereabouts with friends, you can check-in "off-the-grid."
If you use City Guide to check in, and you do not have Swarm installed on your device, your location is private to you. Should you download Swarm at a later date, your check-ins will appear in the app but will be noted as off-the-grid and will not be visible to anyone.
Each of your check-ins using the Services is saved to your "Check-in History," which allows you and your friends to look back at all the locations you have checked in since you created your Services account. You can delete any or all of your check-ins from the check-in details page on our website and in the apps. If for some reason you ever decide to delete your Services account, your entire check-in history will be removed from our database. While your off-the-grid check-ins will not be visible to the public or your friends, we will use the information to provide the Services in a manner consistent with the disclosures in the Privacy Policy and we may share the fact that such check-in has occurred in an aggregated manner using a unique ID.
Adding your home address as a location
You should be aware that if you or your friends add your home as a new location in the Services database and that information is published on the Services (for example, via a user checking in to that home location), that information may be available to others and may be published by third parties without our control. To request removal of a location from the Services database (including your home address) please email us at [email protected].

When you create an account with any of our Placed apps, your data is not made public or visible to others.
How your data helps us generate recommendations
The Foursquare apps may provide recommendations about where you should go and what to try nearby. These recommendations are based on and include, for example, your current location; the locations you've visited and locations and things you and your friends and people you follow like/dislike; the day of the week; the time of day; and so on. We are able to provide these personalized recommendations because you share your location with us. No one else can see your recommendations.
Is your data shared?
There are instances when you may opt to share your data with other third party apps, such as when you connect your accounts to your account with a third party social media company. You can always control what you want shared in your settings. When we partner with a business, we may share data with them, but only in an aggregate or pseudonymized way (which means we share a unique ID, such as an Advertising ID). Your personally identifiable information, or PII, is never shared. For more information on this, please see our privacy policy.
Can you request your data?

Your privacy is important
The bottom line is that we understand how important privacy is to you. From the beginning we've been working hard to build a range of robust privacy controls to give you control over the amount of information you share about your location. We've been a leader in the location-based services spacepopularizing the concept of voluntarily "checking in" to locations and being vocal about how we think about privacy as it relates to location data specificallyand we aspire to be leaders in the way we educate our users on privacy issues related to location awareness.

Overview
Always use correct spelling and capitalization. (Not sure about something? Look it up!)
Most importantly, please format addresses according to your city/country/regions local postal guidelines.
Be flexible and open-minded: remember there will be exceptions to these rules. Focus on providing thorough and correct information for as many places as possible. The rest of the Foursquare community will thank you!
The Basics
Try to avoid extra, unnecessary, or redundant information
Okay: Starbucks
Not okay: Starbucks - Springfield (Springfield is already listed as the city and becomes unnecessary)
Okay: Main St (at 2nd St)
Not okay: Main St (Main St and 2nd St) Main St is redundant.
Example 1: You shouldnt need to include location information in a place name
Example 2: If a place is located on the corner of Main St and 2nd St, the cross street shouldnt repeat the address information.
When possible, stick with address abbreviations: Rd instead of Road, "Ave" instead of "Avenue, "St" instead of "Street, etc.
Okay: Highway 54 or Route 31
Not okay: Hwy 54 or Rte 31 (these abbreviations are harder to read)
But, do not abbreviate the beginning of a street address:
Cross Street should be abbreviated like one of the following:
at Main St (for places on a corner)
btwn 2nd & 3rd Ave (for places located between two streets)
State names should be abbreviated in the US, though feel free to omit this field in countries where states/provinces are not used.
Categories should be useful and applicable. The primary one determines the place icon and should be the most accurate category.
Sub-places should use an appropriate level of granularity when choosing the place to be marked as containing. In airports, shops should usually be considered as inside of terminals, with the terminals considered as inside of the airport itself. No cities, states, countries, or other geopolitical entities should be made a sub-place.

View ArticleWhat happened?
We recently learned that people may have gotten unauthorized access to a small subset of Foursquare accounts. As soon as this was discovered, we began our investigation into this event. Thus far, we learned that approximately 30,000 accounts have been accessed via email addresses and passwords that were obtained from another source. We are consulting with have engaged a forensics team to help us determine what information was accessed, how and when.
In the meantime, to block the unauthorized access, we are forcing user password resets for any user we think may have been affected. This is to ensure were safeguarding these users and our entire community.
Here at Foursquare, security and privacy are top priorities. We are truly sorry that this happened. Thank you for your patience and your help by resetting your password.
Do you know what was accessed?
So far, we believe that the actions were limited to accessing and editing Foursquare profile information and following new accounts. We have hired an external forensics firm to investigate and validate our logs and analysis.
What do I need to do to protect my account?
If we believed your account was accessed, we forced a password reset to protect you. Please change your password here. If you use the same password in several different apps and websites, we recommend that you change your password elsewhere, too. This will help to keep your accounts safe.
If your account was not affected and your password was not reset, but you use the same password for many apps and websites, we recommend that you change your passwords on all of those services.
How does this incident impact clients of Foursquares enterprise and media business?
To date, our investigation has not found that this incident impacts clients or partners of Foursquares enterprise or media business, including the Places API, Pilgrim SDK, and Pinpoint, nor has it impacted our internal systems or data. At this time, we believe the incident solely impacts a small percentage of users of Foursquare apps and websites. If you have concerns, please email [email protected].
Whats next?
As of February 1, 2018, we updated both our privacy policy and cookies policy. These new policies explain our data practices so users are clear about what we collect and how we protect it. Additionally, in the past several months, weve been updating many of our security processes and protections, which means we are prepared and ready to act quickly. Thats been particularly helpful over these past few days.
The bottom line: Were committed to protecting your accounts and our entire community, and were doing everything we can to ensure this doesnt happen again. Thanks for your patience, and for your help.

View ArticleWhat is Rapid Fire?
We have certain check-in controls implemented. If Foursquare Swarm thinks that you're checking in more times than seems reasonable, your account will get flagged. If you're consistently checking into a bunch of venues in a short period of time (or a lot of venues in a 24-hour period), we won't award you points, badges, or mayorships for the check-ins that exceed our limits. It's ok to check in at home, at work, at the coffee, shop, at a park, at the train station, at a restaurant, picking up your dry cleaning, but if we see you checking in at every venue you walk by, you won't get credit for those check-ins. No drive-by or walk-by check-ins, please! Keep your check-ins legit and you won't run into this issue!
How long does it take for Rapid Fire flags to reset?
In general, we have limits on check-ins in the past few minutes and last day, so if you've exceeded those limits, you won't be able to earn coins, stickers, or mayorships when you're over the limit (it's a rolling time period). If you've either been checking in faster than the system thinks you can travel, checking in a lot within those time periods, or consistently checking in to venues when the system thinks you are far away, you'll run into location troubles. (This also happens if you check into places that have vague location, like a town or neighborhood--that will skew your location and make it more likely for you to get location error messages). Make sure to only check in where you are at the time, and not go crazy with your check-ins and things should work ok!

Foursquare Swarm is intended to be a fun, personal app to use with your close friends. We encourage our users to add personal friends and not other users you may come across while checked in somewhere. You may only have 1000 friends on Foursquare Swarm and have up to 500 pending/outstanding friend requests at any given moment. To cancel a pending friend request, visit the profiles of the people you have requested, click the button that says "request pending" and click "cancel pending request."

View ArticleWe want you to enjoy your day, not worry about your phone dying! Having this turned on during the day only increases battery drain by about 0.7 percent per hour or the equivalent to about a 20-minute game of Angry Birds over the course of a day. In addition, we automatically shut down when your battery dips below 30%.
Seeing the location arrow icon (in iOS) in your device's status bar does not mean we use your GPS. In fact, we very rarely use GPS.
We developed these so that you wouldn't miss awesome stuff around you, like the best dish on a menu or the best new places in a new part of town.
In developing these, we focused on two things: making sure the notifications were valuable, and making sure they had only a tiny impact on battery.
Notifications are powered by your phones location. Over the past couple years, weve fine-tuned, tested, and tweaked them to make sure that youre getting great information (like the best dish on a menu) right when you need it.
In addition to having these settings enabled in the app itself, you must enable a few settings at the operating system level as well.
Where can I find the settings in the app?

View ArticleMayorships allow you to compete with friends and strangers for a crown at all of your local hangouts! You become mayor of a place by checking in more than anyone else in the last 30 days. Only 1 check-in per day counts and ties go to reigning mayor.
Check-ins that are too close together, from third-party apps, or when we think youre too far awaywon'tcount towards mayorships. Remember, no one likes a cheater; so only check in when youre actually at a place.
To see where you stand, tap on the profile tab to see both your current mayorships and places where youre in the running. You can view your friends mayorships by visiting their profile and tapping on the "Mayorships" button.
View ArticleThere are a few instances where you might not receive coins for a check in.
If youre too far away
If Foursquare Swarm thinks youre too far away from the place where youre trying to check in, you may not receive coins.
For example: Just got back to the office and forgot to check in at that sweet lunch spot? Checking in from your desk might register as too far away, and might result in no coins being awarded.
Please note, if you're checking into a place like a road, train, highway, etc., the signals we get from your phone may mistakenly think that you're too far away. These kinds of places can potentially span over hundreds of miles or just a few hundred feet, and are very different than a home, shop or restaurant that account for the majority of the places people check in. While you may not get coins, don't worry we're still keeping track of your Mayorships and streaks!
Too many check-ins in a row
If Swarm thinks you're checking-in more times than seems reasonable, you may not receive coins for that check-in.
If we detect that youre going too fast, subsequent check-ins may also be affected. Youll need to allow some time for things to get back to normal. No drive-by or walk-by check-ins, please! Remember, only check in when youre actually at a place and youll get those coins.
We know how important your check-ins are. Wewon'tever remove a check-in or alter your existing coin balance in any way. The places you check in at will always be visible in your history, regardless of coins earned.
Forgot/Couldnt Check-in?
Forgot to check-in at the concert? Bad reception while you were there? Dont worry, weve got you covered in situations like this. If we think you were at a place but didnt check-in, well show you suggestions on your profile so you can retroactively check-in and earn coins.

View ArticleStickers help you remember what types of placesyou'vevisited in Swarm. Once you unlock a sticker you can use it in several ways. Want to add some flair to a check-in photo? Add a sticker! Looking to earn more points on the weekly leaderboard? Use one of your upgraded stickers! You can access your stickers by clicking on your profile picture at the top left hand corner of the screen and then scrolling all way down in your profile. There are two types of stickers: Collectible and Bonus.
Collectible Stickers
100 Collectible Stickers are unlockable at different types of places. Each check-in to one of the 100 Collectible Categories helps you make progress towards earning upgrades for your Collectible Sticker. Upgrading a sticker will give you more points every time you check-in but you can only use the upgrade once a week!
Bonus Stickers
Once you've hit 25 check-ins, you can unlock bonus stickers with all kinds of special check-ins and shouts. Special stickers will unlock on some holidays, with specific words used in a check-in comment, and by going to certain places at specific times. You never know when youll unlock a bonus sticker, try checking in now to see if you get one!
View ArticleWhat are stickers?
Stickers are a visual reward for exploring the world around you. They are fun representations of the Collectible Categoriesyou'vebeen to and the thingsyou'vedone.
To get started, theres a set of 100 stickers to collect based on the Collectible Categories! You can unlock these by checking in to the Collectible Categories you go to.
Theres also a set of ever-growing Bonus Stickers to unlock. Once you hit 25 check-ins youll start out with some but keep your eyes peeled and your senses sharp you never know when a new one will appear! Some are limited edition too so keep an eye on @swarmapp Twitter so youll never miss out.
How do I use them?
There are a few fun ways to show off your accomplishments with stickers:
-add them to your check-ins
-attach them in messages with friends
-spice up your photos by applying stickers
Once you unlock a sticker, you can use it in any of these ways at any time.
...But wait! Theres more.
Your Collectible Stickers can be applied to a check-in to earn an additional 2 bonus coins.
Well suggest the best sticker to add to your check-in for bonus coins and highlight it with golden sparkles! For example: use the Suds McGee sticker at a bar to earn 2 extra bonus coins for that check-in.
The more you check-in to a Collectible Category of place, the closer youll be to upgrading your sticker. Stickers with 2x and 3x upgrades earn more coins per check-in (and look really cool). Please note that upgrades replace your existing sticker bonus, are limited to once per week, and reset Sunday at midnight. So use them wisely!
Pro tips on how to get the most out of your upgrades:
-If you want to get real fancy, use your upgraded sticker when you post photos, check in with friends, or at places when you're on a streak. This will help you maximize your bonus coins.
-If you bought a sticker upgrade and upgrade to Swarm 5.0+, don't worry! Your sticker will stay upgraded. This applies to all stickers that are part of the 100 Collectible Categories. Not every sticker will be eligible for upgrades in Swarm 5.0+, only stickers that are related to the 100 Collectible Categories.

When you check in off-the-grid, it will be visible only to you. These check-ins will show up in your history, butwon'tbe visible to your friends when they view your page. Youll see a lock icon next to any of these check-ins.
When you view the place details of a check-in, we show you if any of your friends have also checked into this place and how many times they have done so. We will only display the number of public check-ins next to a friends avatar. If a friend has only ever checked in off-the-grid to a place, wewon'tshow their avatar.

When you check-in off-the-grid, you will earn one coin for each of the insights that would normally appear during that check-in.
