Quit "appointing" your favorites to promotions/jobs without posting the job and looking at other candidates. The same few "golden children" of the ELT continue to monopolize the best promotions and positions, usually without any experience (the ELT promotes people to leadership without people exp).

Based on recent hiring experiences, our salary/bonus/401K match compensation is far below what is currently being offered in the industry. Attracting new talent to 3 open positions on my team took nearly half a year. For 2/3 of those positions, my top choice candidate declined their offer.

I think for our particular division we don't compete within our industry. I took a significant pay cut to join Grail, previous jun subordinates in my prior team have gone on to local businesses and now earn significantly more than I do. I was willing to compromise because of passion for the mission.
