Joel E. Abelson — Corp VP, Chairman of NA Com Div - Grifols and President of NA Com Div of Grifols Shared Svcs at Grifols

Mr. Joel E. Abelson serves as President of North American Commercial Operations at Grifols USA, LLC. Mr. Abelson has been the Chairman and President of North America Commercial Division of Grifols Shared Services North America at Grifols, S.A. since June 2011. Mr. Abelson served as General Manager of Portfolio Management and International Business and Senior Vice President at Grifols Therapeutics, Inc. (alternate names: Talecris Biotherapeutics, Inc.) since April 2008. He serves as Corporate Vice President of Grifols, S.A. Mr. Abelson leads Talecris' Canadian and Intercontinental Operations as well as Operations in Germany and the European Union. He has joint responsibility for global portfolio management and plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing strategies to support Talecris' global expansion. Mr. Abelson served as Head of Talecris' International Commercial Operations. Mr. Abelson served as General Manager of Portfolio Management and International Business and Senior Vice President at Talecris Biotherapeutics Holdings Corp. since April 2008. He served as General Manager of International Commercial Operation and Vice President for Talecris Biotherapeutics Holdings Corp. from August 2007 to April 2008. Mr. Abelson joined Grifols in March 2006 as Vice President of Canada and Intercontinental Commercial Operations from March 2006 to August 2007. From April 2005 to March 2006, he worked in a consulting role for Talecris supporting both the formation of the new company and the planning and establishment of its Canadian business. From July 2002 to March 2005, Mr. Abelson served as Vice President of Global Strategic Marketing for Bayer's Biological Products Division, where he was responsible for marketing strategies across the entire product portfolio. From April 2001 to July 2002, he served as Vice President of Immunology Life Cycle Management at Bayer Biological Products, where he was responsible for strategic marketing and preparing Bayer Biological Products for the launch of Gamunex (Immune Globulin Intravenous [Human], 10% Caprylate / Chromatography Purified). Mr. Abelson also served in various senior management positions in Bayer's Canadian Healthcare Division from June 1994 to March 2001. Prior to joining the private sector, Mr. Abelson held various policy and management positions with the Government of Ontario, Canada including service in the Cabinet Office as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Premier's Policy and Priorities Committee. Mr. Abelson also led the Province's joint private/public sector health economic development initiative to accelerate the growth of the Province's pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device sectors. Mr. Abelson received his BA (Honours) degree from Carleton University in 1981 and his Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Toronto in 1984.
