There should be zero discrimination between a direct hire and a contractor. Base promotion and other rewards on performance all around, not just who is related to who. Create a defined path for contractors to follow to a direct position, not a "at the mangers discretion" policy.
Leadership needs to manage their expectations and loosen their grip on the pocketbook. The company needs to standardize and begin investing in technology for the day-to-day tasks that MUST be carried out. Excel is not a database nor a project management tool.

Well, I worked for over 15 years there and I knew all the "wrinkles" at this company. They did not like it very much. I resigned to work as contractor. A week later there was a layoff at the Eng dept. They got termination $$$$ package. Gulfstream keept my termination package. They make me sick.
I was hired on as a level one in my career tree. I later found out I was executing the duties of the next three levels up. They chose never to hire for those positions. One-man crew. I eventually took a new position and was told to also continue my previous work, because they "couldn't hire".

Pay for performance like you claim to! Might as well be a union shop. I work with people who are higher paid and have better job titles because they’ve been there longer

Most of them were in with the company. Even the minorities thought they were "whites". My boss, After I quitted this company, my boss was let go. A lot of people laughed at him because he thought he could never shown the door. My boss walk out with a box with all his stuff in it.

Getting to clock out after standing on your feet most of the shift because there is not enough chairs or posture mats to relieve comfort of standing for so long

It is what is. We can't change reallity.
They will not hire anyone. It's not just COVID. They're proud of how "slim" they can run at the Dallas facility. It gets "slimmer" every year. Expect to have at least 2 jobs. I don't mean extra duties. You will have a whole other job title's duties, unoffically. You also won't have any software.

Benefits are constantly being cut, more frequent layoffs, and allowing non producing employees to thrive are just a few of the problems that have killed morale in a big way.
