Jim Strang — MD & Head of Europe at Hamilton Lane

Dr. Jim Strang, Ph.D. serves as Managing Director and Head of Europe at Hamilton Lane Incorporated. Dr. Strang serves as Equity Analyst of Deutsche Bank AG, Research Division. He served as Head of Fund Investment at Dunedin LLP (alternative name Dunedin Capital Partners Limited). He served as a Managing Director of Fund Investment, Head of Europe and Head of London Office at Hamilton Lane Advisors. Dr. Strang joined the Hamilton Lane Advisors on November 16, 2011. Dr. Strang joined the Dunedin Capital Partners Limited in 2008 and headed up the Dunedin Capital Partners Limited's fund investment program and held overall responsibility for all of the Dunedin Capital Partners Limited's activities in relation to its third party private equity investment operation. He was responsible for the Fund Investment Programme managed on behalf of Dunedin Enterprise Investment Trust. Dr. Strang joined Dunedin from Gartmore Private Equity, where he served as the Head of European Buyouts overseeing the Dunedin's investment program in European buyout funds and associated co-investments from 2003. Prior to this, Dr. Strang was a Consultant at Bain & Company, Inc. (alternative name Bain and Company) in London which he joined in 2000. At Bain & Company, he worked both in general consulting practice as well as within its Private Equity Group where he consulted to Europe's pre-eminent private equity managers on a wide range of issues. Previously, Dr. Strang worked in finance and investment roles at both Edinburgh Fund Managers PLC and Deutsche Bank AG. He spent his career in finance and investment in Edinburgh joining Dunedin Fund Managers Ltd in 1994 where he specialised in small quoted company fund management. He serves as Advisory Board Member at CVC Capital Partners Limited and BC Partners. Dr. Strang serves on the Boards of RSL Steeper and CGI International. He served as Director and at Dunedin Capital Partners Limited. Dr. Strang has over 10 years of experience investing in and consulting to private equity funds throughout Europe. He completed a Ph.D. in Management, specialising in the United Kingdom IPO market, at Edinburgh University Business School in 1998. He also attended the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge as a Faculty Scholar graduating with a Masters in Finance in 1997. Dr. Strang is an honours graduate in Business Administration, graduating from the University of Edinburgh with First Class honours in 1993.
