
There is absolutely no "total autonomy", the HCA facility where I work operates on ancient technology, which equates to hours of double charting. Scanning meds does not mean that they will be added to your I's and O's, nurses have to manually enter hour by hour, and if you're titrating drips then you must manually chart as per the titration order (usually Q 10 min). Not to mention the usual shortage of basic supplies such has saline flushes, or as simple as cups or drinkable water for patients
There is total autonomy after the 8hrs we work, so having a life is totally up to the individual.
