While many products on Houzz offer free shipping, others do have a shipping fee associated with them which can vary based on the seller, the distance the product is traveling, the type of product, the level of delivery service selected, among other factors. Products with free shipping will often be identified as such on the product listing page. Create Product without Variations
If your product has no variations (i.e. size, color), fill out the following sections as instructed up to the Variations section:
About this Item: Product Name, Description, Category, Style, Manufacturer/Brand, Product/Website URL, Keywords
Images: Please add up to five relevant images. The first photo should be a product photo on a white background.
Pricing and Inventory: SKU, UPC, Quantity in Stock, Price, MSRP, Shipping Costs and Lead Time
Details: Dimensions, Weight, Primary Materials, Designer/Artist
Tip: If your product is a freight item (meaning it ships on an LTL carrier), please be sure to check the Freight Item box and denote any curbside or inside delivery costs.
Tip: If you have the capabilities to ship to Canada, or Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, be sure you enter in shipping costs in those fields as well.
Tip: Lead time is the amount of time it takes to get the product ready to ship, not including shipping transit time.
Tip: If the product does not have multiple variations, you do not need to enter anything in the Variations section.
Create Product with Variations
Products that are logically the same, but variants of each other, must be grouped together under a single parent SKU, so they can be presented as such to customers.
If the product has variations, the information from the top part of the form (above the Variations section) will become the parent SKU. Enter the product details and variations as specified below.
Product Name should not include variations such as size or color.
Upload only one image.
Tip: The image you add here will not be seen on the variations so you will want to add whichever image you used as a variation below as well.
Create a new SKU for this parent
Tip: Parent SKUs are never available for purchase, so you can make up a new unique SKU.
Enter product variations, separated by commas.
Tip: Use only to add variations of the parent product. Do not use to add more copy to the product listing.
The system will generate new items for each variant and automatically populate fields based on the parent SKU. Enter a unique SKU for each variant and edit the automatically populated information, if necessary.
Add up to five images per variant. The first photo will need to be the product on a white background. When you have completed the details for all the product variants, click Submit.
Tip: If product variations have the same shipping cost, click Overwrite variation shipping and enter in the shipping costs in the correct shipping field.
View ArticleSeller Score 101
Watch the video below to see how you can easily improve your seller score!
What is the Seller Score?
The Houzz Seller Score is a quantitative measure of the experience that a seller offers to buyers on the Houzz Marketplace. The goal of the score is to identify and reward sellers that offer the best experiences and educate Sellers about how toimprove their service over time.
The Seller Score takes into account the following factors:
On-time shipment rates
Response times to customer messages and inquiries
Seller reviews
Frequency of inventory updates
Seller-faulted cancellations (for example, due to out-of-stock products or an item being uncompetitively priced)
Seller-faulted returns (for example, the wrong item was shipped)
Seller-faulted chargebacks (due to poor seller behavior)
Your overall Seller Score is rated on a scale of 0 to 100, with the following ranges:
90-100: Exceptional
80-89: Good
70-79: Average
50-69: Underperforming
under 50: Account Suspended
If a seller has no orders within the last 180 days, their score will appear as "--", but will automatically recalculate as their order volume grows.
How is the Seller Score Calculated?
The Seller Score is calculated by assigning an order score to each of a sellers orders within the last 180 days and applying a time-weighted average across this set of order scores. An individual order score starts at 100 and receives penalties and bonuses based on the following events:
Shipment times: a penalty is applied if an order is late, with the severity of the penalty directly proportional to the number of days an order is late. Response times to customer messages: a penalty is applied if a response to any customer inquiry about an order takes longer than 24 hours.
Seller-faulted cancellations: a penalty is applied when an order is canceled due to a seller issue, with the "out-of-stock" and "failing to ship" reasons being the most severe.
Seller-faulted returns: a penalty is applied if an order return is caused a seller issue (incorrect or damaged item, shipped the wrong item, uncompetitive pricing, amongst others).
Seller-faulted chargebacks: a penalty is applied if an order has a chargeback that is caused by the seller.
Seller reviews: a bonus is applied for 4- and 5-star reviews; a penalty is applied for 2- and 1-star reviews.
Inventory management: a penalty is applied if the seller does not update their inventory on a regular basis. We recommend updating inventory (for stock levels) for each product every hour, but no less than once per day, depending on your order volume.
Seller Scorecard
In addition to the overall Seller Score, Houzz calculates six composite metrics that can be used to assess your performance.
Perfect order rate: the % of orders that are fulfilled on-time with no issues, returns, or negative feedback. An order is not considered perfect even if the return is the buyer's fault, however, buyer-faulted returns don't negatively impact the Seller Score.
Order defect rate: the % of orders that contain either a backorder (i.e. a delayed shipment), seller-faulted return (e.g. a damaged item), chargeback, or negative feedback. Buyer-faulted returns are not counted here.
Cancellation rate: the % of orders that are cancelled by the seller (e.g. an item is out-of-stock). Keeping stock information accurate is critical to providing a great buying experience.
Late shipment rate: the % of orders that are shipped after the specified lead time. On-time shipment is the single biggest thing a seller can do to maintain a high score.
Average rating: the average of all ratings supplied by a seller's customers.
Late response rate: the % of messages to which a seller responds after 24 hours. It's important for sellers to be highly responsive to customer questions and inquiries.

View ArticleAdding the right keywords is an important step in helping customers find your products. Here are some guidelines for adding keywords to your products.
Keyword each unique product: When you upload products, make sure the keywords are specific and relevant for each item.In most cases, you need to keyword each product separately.
Ask yourself: If a user searches for this keyword and finds this product, will they be confused? Avoid confusing keywords.
List 5-15 keywords per product, separated by commas
Limits:
There is a maximum of 30 keywords and 300 total characters
Each keyword may be up to 60 characters long; for example, "red sofa" is one keyword and eight characters long, including spaces.
Synonyms: Keyword synonyms, such as sofa and couch. Another example: coastal decor, nautical decor and ocean theme decor.
Capitals and punctuation: Capitalization and punctuation are ignored in search, so it is okay to keyword in lower case.
Auto-complete: Use the keywords that are auto-completed in the keywording box if they are relevant for the product.
Appropriate types of keywords:
Specific product category (canopy bed, wood stove, electric tea kettle)
Materials (silk curtains, satin pillowcase, wood table)
Colors, color schemes, patterns (white bed, neutral bedding, plaid bedding)
Size/shape adjectives (round pan, oversized comforter, mini chandelier, double vanity)
Style (traditional art, art nouveau mirror, beach style decor)
Quantities (2-piece sectional, 3-light chandelier)
Room and use (bedroom furniture, kitchen rug, cooking tools)
Brand/product designer (Eames chair, Vitra chair, Panton Chair)
Unique product features (basket with lid, self-cleaning oven)

View ArticleThanks for your interest in Houzz! We cover innovative new residential architecture, interior design and landscape projects of all sizes and styles from around the world.
The Houzz editorial team reviews new home design photos as they come in. (Its one of the best perks of the job!) The team then writes featured ideabooks on those we think will resonate most with the community. Featured ideabooks are independent editorial: They are not paid placements or written in exchange for products, advertising or services.
To submit a project for consideration as an editorial feature, first upload your photos to your Houzz profile ( start here ).
Houzz is looking for:
Innovative homes and remodels completed within the past year.
Homes of all sizes, especially small to medium-size homes, apartments and gardens built or remodeled on a budget. Please point out inventive solutions, clever cost-cutting methods, sustainable materials and well-considered splurges.
Furnished spaces. Readers love to see homes as they were meant to be lived in.
Before and after photos. We love to see room makeovers and smaller projects that show the design process from start to finish.
Budget info. Special consideration will be given to projects that can include an estimated overall budget, cost per square foot or cost for special details. Some costs may be more or less than people may think this information helps advance homeowners understanding of when they may be ready to take on a similar project.
High-resolution, clear, well-lit photos. Set your camera to capture images at least 2,400 pixels wide. Hire a pro or get out the tripod and lights, hold that camera steady and capture a good angle! We want to show your project at its best.
Once your photos are uploaded with a description and the completion date, send your uploaded project link and a description to: [email protected]. We will review each request and contact you if we decide to move ahead with an interview. Please be specific and indicate one of the following in the subject line:
Kitchen project
Landscape project
Professional remodel
