Executive Bio

Mr. Paul H. Layne serves as an Executive Vice President of Master Planned Communities at The Woodlands Development Company. Mr. Layne has been an Executive Vice President of Master Planned Communities at The Howard Hughes Corporation since April 30, 2012. Mr. Layne has oversight responsibilities for The Woodlands, Bridgeland and Summerlin. For over 30 years Mr. Layne has been a vital leader in Houston's commercial real estate community as well as in national and international real estate. Mr. Layne served as Executive Vice President at Brookfield Properties Corporation leading the financial performance of a 9.7 million square foot portfolio in the Houston Central Business District. Mr. Layne served as an Executive Vice President of Houston - Property Operations U.S.A. at Brookfield Office Properties Inc. He served as Head of Houston Region and Executive Vice President at Brookfield Office Properties Inc. Prior to Brookfield, Mr. Layne served as President of Cullen Center and Executive Vice President at Trizec Properties, Inc. since March 11, 2004, which was acquired by Brookfield in 2006. At Trizec, Mr. Layne was also involved with the acquisitions of key assets including the Sears Tower in Chicago, Metropolitan Square in St. Louis, Allen Center Complex in Houston and Bank of America in Los Angeles. He began his career at The Horne Company and later spent five years as a Vice President at Prime Asset Management. Mr. Layne served as Senior Vice President, Western Region of Trizec Properties Inc. from February 2002 to March 11, 2004 and Trizec Holdings, Inc. since July 2001. He served as Executive Vice President, Southwest/Southeast Region of Trizec Holdings Inc., from January 1999 to July 2001 and Regional Vice President, Southwest Region from January 1997 to January 1999. He joined TrizecHahn in 1994 and was actively involved in the acquisitions of a number of prominent properties, including Houston's Allen Center, Metropolitan Square and St. Louis Place in St. Louis and Williams Towers I and II in Tulsa. Mr. Layne is a long-time industry and civic leader in Houston, serving on the boards of the Downtown Houston Association, the Central Houston Association and the Houston Theater District. He is also the President of the Houston Downtown Management District and President-Elect of Christian Community Service Centers.
