Some reasons for a chat suspension may include sexual harassment (sending inappropriate sexual messages to other users, including 'send nudes'), messages that constitute harassment, or messages that feature abusive phrases or requests.

When chat access is suspended a user will be able to read all previous conversations that they may have had, but will be unable to send new messages to any user.

At this time we do not automatically notify a user that their chat access has been disabled; however if you believe this action is in error please don't hesitate to contact us.

Users that delete their account or opt out of the exchange are automatically removed from the event, this way we ensure that you are only matched to another user that is actively on Imgur.

If you are having trouble loading your match on Imgur, please first try opening your matches profile from your directly. If that doesn't work and you're on a mobile device, you you may want to try loading the page on desktop. Please note that the search feature on Imgur is not optimized to search for users.

Please note that if you instead choose to not gift your match, you will be blacklisted from future events, so please be sure to reach out so nobody is forgotten.

We are aware of an issue with post counts on tag pages. This issue is causing the number of posts per tag to appear as a much lower and incorrect number. For example the t/Secret Santa Workshop tag (pictured above) states it contains 1 post, but this is definitely incorrect. Other tags such as are showing lower numbers than they should.

The team is working on this issue and we hope to resolve it soon! We really appreciate your patience in the meantime.

Filling out your interests section during signups will let your eventual match know your interests and help them pick out something for you. The more helpful information you include, the easier it will be for your match and the more likely you are to enjoy your gift.

We understand that writing about yourself isn't something that comes easily to everyone, so try to be thoughtful not only when writing this section, but also when reading your match's interests section.

It's also a good idea to remain active on Imgur during the weeks leading up to the exchange, your match may look at your comments, posts, or favorites to get a feel for what you might like.

Note: Requesting expensive or inappropriate content may result in your entry being removed.

Oh no! Recently, YouTube has been rate-limiting Imgur periodically - this unfortunately means that the Vid2Gif tool may not work at times when attempting to upload from YouTube links.

At the moment, we have no workaround for this as it related to Google's rate-limits, not our own. If you are having issues, you should try to convert your links with Vid2Gif at a later time. Direct uploading is unaffected by these rate limits.

Hi there!

Recently, Imgur updated our chat technologies after our previous chat provider, Layer, closed their business. We began working on implementing our new chat service, from a company called Stream, in early August.

Unfortunately, due to heavy time constraints, there are a few bugs with the new messaging service at release. Our team is aware of these and are working on it as a high priority. Rest assured, these bugs - although irritating - are small bumps in the road and will be addressed as quickly as possible.

Some issues you may encounter include:

iOS

Chat won't connect if app is left idle for 10+ minutes. requires an app restart

MP4 and plaintext links aren't clickable

Exiting a message without sending anything leaves an empty message bubble

All previous messages appear as "Unread"

User's cannot click the username of the person they are chatting with

Android

The on-screen keyboard covers the last message in channel

Sometimes the interface may "jump" when sharing links

Some links may fail to send

App crashes if a user signs out and logs into a new account, then uses chat

Some users may be unable to delete chats in the app

All previous messages appear as "Unread"

Clicking on Imgur links opens the browser instead of showing the content in-app

Users cannot click the username of the person they are chatting with

Desktop

Notifications may not appear immediately

You may open chats and they are not scrolled to the correct position

Users are unable to delete chat histories

The "Chat with other Imgurians" screen may "flash" if you are messaging a user you've never messaged previously

If you have multiple tabs open for chat, muting a user in one chat will not remove the conversation in the other

Read messages may still appear as new

Additionally, messages that were previously deleted on the Layer messaging system may appear on the new Stream system.

In the long-run, we expect Stream to provide a much more enjoyable messaging experience for everyone. Please bear with us in the meantime as we work to address these problems.

Annually since 2014, the Imgur Community has come together to exchange gifts during the holiday season through Imgur Secret Santa, a user-to-user holiday gift exchange that assigns you to send a gift to someone around the world, then receive one in return. Any Imgurian with a verified account can register to participate. By joining, you can expect a ton of holiday cheer and a little bit of magic.

Backup gifters help provide gifts to people in the exchange who have not received a gift from their original match, but have sent one themselves. This means that backup gifting works on a different schedule than the standard gifting to ensure that people who did not receive a gift are able to request a backup before the deadline.

Imgurians who entered the exchange are able to sign up to be a backup gifter on November 25th. You can do so via the "Backup Gifter" option on your Secret Santa profile.

If you weren't able to participate in the exchange, and want to help ensure that all participants receive a gift, you can instead donate to the backup gifter fund on the Secret Santa website. A direct link to the donation option can be found .

Donations to Imgur Secret Santa are used in full to fund backup gifting that keeps the holiday merry and bright for those whodon'treceive a gift.

Since Imgur Secret Santa began in 2013 matches have been made on a varying number of factors including:

Age of account

For example, if you've been on Imgur for 4 years, you won't be matched to someone who has only recently joined Imgur.

Whether or not you've participated previously

Those who have participated in the past are awarded a trophy on Imgur, and are henceforth only matched with other users who also participated previously.

Similar interests

A personal touch may be applied to many matches in the hopes that the matches are a perfect fit!

At any time before November 29th you may withdraw your entry to the Secret Santa on your login page. However, once matches go out you can no longer back out, those who do not gift their match are blocked from participating in any future Imgur exchanges.

Nonetheless, we know that things can happen, life throws a curveball and circumstances change. If you have legitimate concerns over not being able to gift your match, let us know right away by using to contact us directly.

"How is my match generated?"

If you've entered the event, come Dec 2nd you'll be matched with an Imgurian to gift, at this same time, a different Imgurian is assigned you to gift. Its up to this Imgurian to decide if they want to make themselves public to you. If they do, you may receive an Imgur message from them, however some people choose to keep the secret in Secret Santa.

Your match will be looking at your Imgur profile to learn more about you, so be sure to stay active and update your bio.If you're interested in under more about how matching works, we explain that in detail in our help article

Your match has provided their shipping address in the "My Match" section of your Secret Santa Profile. If you find that there is a problem with the address provided, you'll need to get in touch with your match directly for updated information. We recommend using Imgur Chat to send them a message. Unfortunately the Imgur team is unable to connect you directly to your match through email or email your match on your behalf.

Matches are set to be assigned on December 2nd.

If youre not logged in while visiting the Secret Santa homepage you will be met with a message saying registration is closed. Use the menu to select Sign In, then follow the instructions above. The menu is in the upper righthand corner of the screen on both mobile and desktop sites.

All participants of the Imgur Secret Santa will be awarded a trophy on a rolling basis by the end of the event once they have confirmed their gift as shipped to their match.

Were really sorry if you didnt receive a gift; unfortunately due to the nature of Secret Santa, this is a possibility. We hope that everyone who enters is serious about exchanging gifts but we cannot guarantee that you giving an awesome gift will mean receiving one 100% of the time.

If you havent got a gift by the deadlines to receive one, please sign in to your account and report this under your "My Gift" tab. We will immediately blacklist your sender, preventing them from participating in future exchanges.

Fear not! As long as you sent your gift you will be eligible to request a backup gifter in the period following the main gift exchange - This period will differ depending on whether or not you signed up for international shipping or not.

Between December 30 and January 7th, those who shipped domestically to the same country and did not receive a gift may login and request a backup gifter. After January 7th you may only login to report not getting a gift and are no longer able to request a backup.

Between January 6 and January 14th, those who shipped a gift internationally and did not receive a gift may login and request a backup gifter. After January 14th you may only login to report not getting a gift and are no longer able to request a backup.

UPDATE: We've removed the 'Advanced' option while we work on a long term resolution to this issue.

We are aware that some Imgurians who've been able to use chat in the past are now unable to access their Imgur chat messages. Instead, they are prompted to "unlock chat."

We have received reports that comments are not displaying when opening a notification that you've received a reply to a comment, or on your post. Additionally, these same users are seeing comments not appear when refreshing a post, this applies to both comments made by yourself, or others.

In the meantime, refreshing again or opening the page in a new tab does appear to display these comments normally.

We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue.

Finding good use for that exercise equipment.

First the bad news: On October 28, 2019 messaging features for older app versions were disabled. Layer, the company who previously provided our messaging service has permanently closed their business. We moved on to another company, Stream.

Unfortunately, the Stream and Layer technologies are incompatible. This means that moving forward, the messaging service implemented on older app versions will cease to function.

And now we get the good news! Users will be able to access messaging features once they update their apps. Overall, we expect this new messaging service to be much better for users - your existing messages will not be lost, your mute list will be maintained, and you'll be able to enjoy a whole host of new features.

On iOS, only version 9.0 or higher will support messaging.

On Android, only version 574 or higher will support messaging.

Desktop users are unaffected by this change as the site will update automatically.

No Imgur content has been deleted or moved, and is still available at its original Imgur URL. As an alternative, you can browse the visual contents of any subreddit using third-party tools such as https://www.redditery.com and https://redditgrid.com.

Over the years, these pages have put Imgurs user growth, mission, and business at risk. We want Imgur to be a fun, welcoming, and entertaining place that brings happiness to the Internet for many, many years to come. Thus, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue support for these subsections on Imgur.

How do I view this content now?

All content is still available at its original URL, and still available to be viewed directly through that URL. I repeat, no content has been deleted, and we are not purging or removing the content from Imgur.

All content linked from NSFW Reddit communities remains on Reddit and can be viewed there. Alternatively, you can browse the visual contents of any subreddit using third-party tools such as Redditery and Reddit Grid.

Can I still upload NSFW content?

Absolutely. It is still permitted to upload legal NSFW content with the Hidden privacy status on Imgur. NSFW content is not permitted in Imgurs public gallery community.

What happens when I view NSFW content?

If you visit a NSFW page on Imgur, you will be asked to log in and/or acknowledge that you are over the age of 18. Imgur does not require that you provide us with any personal identifying information when creating an account and does not sell your data. For more information on your privacy on Imgur, see our Privacy Policy.

The subsections, like imgur.com/r/lego, are tied directly to Reddit. In order to share an image on the Imgur subsection, you have to first post it on the subreddit with the corresponding name, like reddit.com/r/lego. If you just want to share your image to a subreddit, you do not need to mark your image as public or share with the Imgur community.

Don't worry! If you no longer have access to the email or third party account that you used to register your Imgur username, please send us a requestthat includes the following information:

Registered email address (even if you can't access that account)

The IP address from which you most recently accessed your Imguraccount. Google " What is my IP? " to find out what that is.

Another piece of identifying information such as the description of a private uploaded image or the title of a privatealbum.

We'll give you a temporary password, which will allow you access to your account and then change to the password of your choice.

Still have access to your account but no longer want to sign in with your third-party account? You can manually disassociate it by assigning yourself a password. Just follow the directions here. Once you create a password, a field to change your email address will appear as well.

Desktop

1. Go to and log in. Access your account settings by selecting your username in the upper righthand corner.

2. Select Password & Email from the options on the left side.

4. Simply type in your old password and what you'd like your new password to be and hit "Save".

Upon completion you will be shown this friendly message to confirm the password has been changed.

iOS App

1. Open the Imgur app and tap on the profile button on the tab bar at the bottom of the screen.

2. Then, tap the cog icon in the top right to access Settings.

3. Tap on "Profile" and then tap on Change Password at the bottom. You'll be asked to put in your current password as well as what you want your new password to be.

4. Tap "Done" and you're all set!

Android App

1. Open the Imgur app and tap on the profile button on the tab bar at the bottom of the screen.

2. Then, tap the cog icon in the top right to access Settings.

3. Tap on "Edit Profile" and then tap on Change Password. You'll be asked to put in your current password as well as what you want your new password to be.

4. Tap "Done" and you're all set!

All passwords must contain letters and at least one number. For security, we recommend using a password with lower case letters, upper case letters, numbers, and symbols.

If content breaks Imgur'scommunity rules, it may be removed and the original poster warned about the removal. Warnings are sent from theautomated account, @imgur, via Imgur messaging, and also via email to the user's registered email address. The purpose of the warning system is to alert people of the community rules and give people a chance to better understand and change behavior.

Warnings

Warnings will expire after a period of normal contributions. However, if multiple submissions break the rules in a shorttime frame, warnings will accumulate, which could lead to a 24-hour suspension, and further, a ban.

Suspension

A suspension lasts for 24-hours, during which point commenting and posting is disabled. A suspendeduser can still access their posts, upload, vote on other posts & content, and send messages.

Ban

A ban is a permanent disabling of commenting, messaging, and posting. A banned user can still access their posts, upload, and vote on other posts & content.

Mature Content

A user may receive a message reclassifying their post as mature if it was not originally marked as such by the user.If your post has been marked as mature and you received a message or email, this is not an official warning on your account and does not affect your account status. We value the safety and security of our community, which is why we now require phone verification when you create an account. Phone verification helps protect against spam and abuse that hurts our community and our business.

How is this information stored?

Your phone number is securely stored via hashing, a method of storing data, for purposes of account verification only. It will not be shown publicly, shown to Imgur's staff, shared with other users, sold, or used for any marketing purposes.

Note: There is no way to reverse the hashing process to reveal the original phone number.

How does this affect my previously created account?

Phone verification will only affect newly created Imgur accounts. Accounts created before June 2019 are not required to add a phone number to continue using Imgur.

Do I still need to verify my email?

Email verification was previously used to allow access to certain features like sharing a post to the gallery, making a comment, or accessing chat. Moving forward however, accounts that are registered with a verified phone number are no longer required to verify their email address to participate in the community.

Can I create an account without using a phone number?

Phone verification is required for all accounts created on desktop. It is currently not required when using a third party account to register on our apps.

Mature content may include suggestive, inflammatory, unsettling, or provocative jokes, stories, and images. This may include content containing:

mild violence, injuries or blood

scantily-clad women or men

content that antagonizes or directly agitates a group of people

content that makes an average person squeamish or disgusted

non-explicit content discussing sexual experiences or fetishes

content posted to sexualize or ogle

any content intended for a mature audience

Its very possible your content may have fallen into one of the descriptions stated above or within our Community Rules. However if you are confused or need feedback, feel free to reach out to support and include a link to your post(s) in question.

It's our goal to continually increase consistency and communication with moderation across the board. Why allow mature content at all?

Simply put, our rules explicitly state that nudity & explicit pornography are not allowed here.

Our rules are not meant to be a burden, but the Community Rules are in place to guide our content to help make this the best party on the internet! Mature content does not mean sexually explicit content is allowed.

These files will need to be converted before upload. A handy tool for sharing videos you've found online that you'd like to share on Imgur is our Vid2Gif tool !

Maximum File Size

The maximum file size for non-animated images (think JPG, PNG, etc) is 20MB. PNG files over 5MB will be converted to JPEGs.

The maximum file size for animated images (like GIFs) and video is 200MB. Video uploads cannot be longer than 60 seconds. GIF and video files over 2MB will be converted to GIFVs, where the sound is removed.

Non-animated images over 1MB for anonymous uploads and 5MB for account holders will be lossily compressed. All non-animated images receive lossless compression that reduces filesize while maintaining quality. Large GIFs will be converted to, which shrinks file size while maintaining a high quality, perfect for our expert GIF makers.

Upload Limit

There is an upload limit of 50 images per hour. There is no upload limit per account, so upload to your heart's desire!

Please note it's not possible to replace an image while keeping the same URL.

Imgur is a fun place where anyone is welcome to discover entertaining content and have their spirits lifted. We want to keep that good thing going, so we have created this ruleset to help guide the content on Imgur. We're hanging out at the best party on the Internet, and it's up to all of us to keep the party awesome. If you see a post or comment that breaks the rules, we welcome you to report it to the Imgur moderators. If the post or comment is removed, the original poster is then messaged about the removal.

Please respect the Imgur community by marking mature content as such on the post's options or using "NSFW" in comments. Mature content not marked as such will be recategorized when reported, but no account warning is issued.

In general, blood and injuries may not be appropriate for a general audience, so should be marked mature.

This diglett fan art is suggestive, so should be marked mature.

In general, depictions of festishes should be marked mature.

No hate speech or content that attacks, bullies, or harrasses non-public people.

Imgur is open to anyone, so we take down hate speech and abusive content when we see it. This may include content containing:

attacks on people based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability or medical condition

glorification or endorsement of hateful content or ideologies

harassment in the forms of witch hunting, repetitive unwanted or obsessive attention, aggressive intimidation, suicide requests or threats

It's important to keep in mind that not everything that's mean or insulting is hate speech. That said, the line between unintentional and serious attacks is sometimes difficult to identify, so we're likely to err on the side of taking something down.

This includes abuse in usernames, as well as posts and comments.

The context of this swastika is historical, not hateful, so its ok.

In general, comments on public figures are ok.

Comments on race in current eventsaren'tinherently racist, so this meme is ok.

No content that condones illegal or violent activity.

Content depicting or advocating illegal activity or violence will not be tolerated. This may include content containing:

child abuse and exploitation

rape and domestic abuse

fraudulent or deceptive content

false impersonation

graphic violence or death

You may not post content that is intended to incite others to commit violence, mocks victims of violence, or includes a direct and specific threat of violence to others.

Examples:

Non-explicit images that document or memorialize historic events are ok.

Drugs are illegal, but images of drugs are not.

Stalking is illegal, but jokes mentioning it are not, so this is ok.

No gore or mutilation.

Gore may include the depiction of vivid and realistic acts of violence and brutality. Don't post gore just to be shocking. Don't showcase the mutilation or torture of human beings, animals, or their remains.

Wedon'tconsider animal nature to be gore, so this is ok.

In general, special effectsaren'tconsidered realistic violence, so this is ok.

No posting personal information.

To protect the safety of private individuals, we don't allow anything that reveals other people's personally identifiable information. This includes, but is not limited to, phone numbers, home addresses, employment information, email addresses, full names with photos, and personal social media accounts of non-public figures without the consent of the original party.

No spam.

We value authentic and interesting content, so we do not welcome clickbait, affiliate linking, spoilers for the purpose of trolling, rapid-fire posting, scripts or bots, or anything else that someone might consider spammy. Self-promotion on Imgur is okay, but spamming is not.

Examples:

This OP is providing value by showing Imgur something cool about their business, so its not spam.

Self-promoting ones own art or talent is not spam, so this is ok.

Good Sharing Practices

Considering these tips when sharing with the Imgur community will help ensure youre contributing great content.

Value

Good sharing means posting content which brings value to the community. Content which opens up a discussion, shares something new and unique, or has a deeper story to tell beyond the image itself is content that generally brings value. Ask yourself first: is this something I would be interested in seeing on Imgur if someone else posted it?

Transparency

Imgurians expect that the original poster (OP) will be explicit about if and how they are connected to the content they are posting. Trying to hide that relationship, or not explaining it well to others, is a common feature of bad sharing.

Respect

Good sharing means knowing when the Imgur community has spoken through upvotes and downvotes and respecting that. You should avoid constantly reposting content to User Submitted that gets downvoted. This kind of spamming annoys the community, and it won't make your posts any more popular.

If you aren't sure if your post fits the rules, please don't post it. Just because you've seen a rule-breaking image posted somewhere else on Imgur doesn't mean it's okay for you to repost it.

Joey doesn't share food

Even if you're not into sharing food,you may occaisionally want to share some of the hillarious posts you see on Imgur with the outside world. Here's how you can do that!

Desktop

1. To share an entire post onour desktop site, we have a few handy share icons on the bottom right hand side of a post. You can also just copy and paste the URL.

2. If you want to share a link to a specific image within a post, right clicking on it will be easiest.

3. If you want to share a GIF, when you right click on it you will see it described as an image.

4. A GIFV will say video and its URL will say .mp4. If you change this extension to .gif, that will transform it into a GIF for you!

Android App

1.To share an entire post, tap the share icon in the bottom right corner when you're viewing a post. A menu will appear giving you plenty of options to share it, including within Imgur to a fellow Imgurian via Imgur Chat!

2. If you want to share a specific image or GIF within a post on Imgur, simply long press on that image and a similar menu will appear when tapping "Share Direct Link." You can also download the image you want to save it to your camera roll.

Please note that BBCodes are not available on the app. They can be only be found on the desktop website.

Autoplay GIFs

Sometimes you might expect a GIF to autoplay on a social media platform but it sadly doesn't. There may be a few reasons for that.

Each platform has their own size requirements for GIFs to autoplay that you may need to check. Some prefer smaller GIFs (under 5mb) while others favor larger ones.

Copying a gallery Imgur link that contains a GIF will not make it autoplay, you need the exact image address that ends in .gif.

Many sites treat GIFv as video so they will need converting to GIF to autoplay.

Other times you have seen a GIF autoplay it may actually have been uploaded to the platform and not shared via a .gif link. On Imgur you can do that by changing the URL to .gif (show in the desktop example above) or use another service.

To see if your GIF will autoplay on Facebook, they have this . Simply paste in your .gif link and hit "debug". It will then show you what the GIF link will look like if you share it on Facebook.

Favorite folders have (finally) landed in your Imgur profile! That's right - the days of disorganization are behind us. Favorite folders are now live across Imgur desktop, Android, and iPhone. Favorite and never forget!

Create A Folder

First things first. Youcan'thave favorite folders without a folder. Heres how to make one.

Desktop

Hover over your username in the top right corner, then click favorites from the dropdown. This will load your Favorites page (imgur.com/user/yourusername/favorites). Then, simply click the New Folder icon - the folder outline with a plus sign - to create a folder.

App

Tap on the person icon in the bottom tab bar to load your profile. Tap on Favorites in the header, then Folders. Hit New Folder, add a name, then tap Done.

Add To Folder From Existing Favorites

Whether you are on a train, plane, or automobile, or sitting at a computer and want to organize your favorites into a folder, you have the ability with these steps:

Desktop

Head to your favorites page.

On this page, you will be able to drag and drop posts into the desired folder.

You can also select multiple posts with the check mark box to drag into a specific folder.

Note that there is an option to organize your favorites by newest or oldest, as well as only show posts that have yet to be organized.

App

Select the folder where youd like to add favorites.

Tap on the three dot menu bar in the top right corner and select Add Posts.

Select all the posts youd like to add then hit Add. The posts have been added!

Pro Tip: Tap "Unorganized" to see a drop down where you can select a folder to add posts from.

Add To Folder From A Post

While blissfully browsing through Imgur, you can add a post to a specific favorite folder at any time in only a few easy steps.

Desktop

On a post, scroll down until you reach the bottom of the final image.

Youll see a little + next to the favorite icon (thats the heart shape). Click on the + to bring up folders you have already made or allow you to make a new one.

Click on the folder you want this post to go into. Youre done!

Pro Tip: If you only click on the heart and not the + it will go into your All Favorites area, ready to be sorted later.

App

On a post, locate the favorite icon (thats the heart shape) next to the voting buttons.

Long press on the favorite icon. This will bring up your folder selection or allow you to make a new one.

Select the folder you want and youre done! Visit your folders to find the post there.

Pro Tip: If you only click on the heart without holding it down, it will go into your All Favorites area, ready to be sorted later.

Remove A Post From Folders

Who added this collection of beautiful pizzas to my favorite folder about healthy eating? Definitely not me at 3am while crying into a salad.

Desktop

To remove a post from a folder, hover over the post and find the trash can icon. Clicking this will remove the post from the folder.

Pro Tip: Removing a post from All Favorites removes the post from all folders and your favorites.

App

Select the folder where youd like to remove favorites.

Tap on the three dot menu bar in the top right corner and select Remove" on iOS and "Save" on Android.

Select all the posts youd like to remove then hit Save. The posts have been removed!

Edit Folder Title

Giving your Favorite Folder an appropriate name is a difficult decision. Do you go for a pun, an in joke, or the most descriptive you can be? Tricky. If you ever want to rename your folder, its a simple process.

Desktop

Click on the folder you want to rename.

Hover your mouse over the current folder name to reveal a little pencil icon.

Click on the folder name and it will allow you to type something new.

Click away and your folder has been renamed!

App

Tap the folder you want to rename.

Look for the three vertical dots above the current folder name, next to the share icon.

Tap that and then tap Edit Folder.

Tap on the text in Folder Name and start typing, editing, or deleting.

Tap on Done on iOS and "Save" on Android when youre done and that will save it for you!

How To Delete A Folder

I seriously can't remember why I have a folder called "Nothing but David Hasselhoff eating a cheeseburger on the floor".

Desktop

Click on the folder you want to delete.

Select the cog in the upper right corner of the folder.

Click on Delete Folder and youre done!

App

Tap on the folder you want to delete.

Select the 3 button menu icon in the upper right corner. From the drop-down tap on Edit Folder.

Hit the big red Delete Folder button. Confirm with the delete button.

Folder Privacy

Sometimes you want to share your reaction GIF collection with the world, but you don't want everyone to see your wedding dress collection. Never fear -- you can change the privacy of your folders easily.Public folders will appear to everyone when they visit your profile, and you can share them. Private folders can only be seen by you, and they cannot be shared. The default setting for new folders is Public.Please note that privacy options are only available on the folder level. Individual favorites are always public and viewable in the All Favorites section of your profile.

Desktop

When in the folder you would like to make private or public, you will see a small cog icon on the left. Click the cog and select the new privacy setting.

App

Select the folder you wish to change, and tap the three dot menu in the top right corner. Tap "Edit Folder". In this menu, you can change the privacy setting to either public or private. Tap "Done" on iOS or "Save" on Android to save.

You can easily tell if a folder is private based on the lock icon that shows in the folder and within the folder list.

If you can't see any of your messages on Imgur chat,do not fear! It may be because the chat feature is currently only available to users who in the past have had positive interactions with the community through commenting and sharing.

If you're active user on Imgur already and don't have access, be sure to check if your email address is validated on your account. You will need a validated email on your account to enable chat.

If you still can't see your messages, please with your username so they can look into your account for you.

Once you've learned how to upload images on Imgur, the next step is creating a post (AKA album). The difference between uploading images and making a post is that images you upload can be private whereas a post is shared and visible by the Imgur community. You can upload images on Imgur without making a post but you can't make a post without images!

All the images and GIFs you see in posts on Imgur were uploaded by a fellow Imgurian. None of the joy we get everyday would be possible without these submissions! To learn how to make a post and start receiving upvotes and comments from the Imgur community, select how you are accessing Imgur.

Desktop

1.Click the "New post" button at the top of the browser on the left. Then upload your images using URLs, your Imgur uploads, or from your computer. Learn more about uploading here.

2. Once you've got your images, you can now add the details to your post which will help make it stand out.

Title: This will be displayed at the top of your post above images.

Description: This will be underneath the image/s in your post. If you have lots of images, each one can have a description. If you have just one, the description will show at the bottom of the post.

Tags: These help fellow Imgurians find your content. Use tags by writing them in the description with a # that relate to your post, e.g #corgis, #fail, or #london. They don't work in titles.

@: You can tag a fellow Imgurianby writing their username with the @ sign (e.g @sarah). They will be notified of your post.

Mature: If your post contains mature content, make sure that box is checked! You can learn more about that here.

3. If youd like to control just one of the images in your post, hover over it to get the single image share links, open the image editor, download, or delete.

Edit image: If you need to crop, rotate, add text, or edit that image, now's your chance! Learn more here.

Delete image: If you click this, you'll be given the two options show below.

Remove from this Post: the image will no longer appear on this postbut will still be uploaded on Imgur and can be found by its direct link.

There are 2 ways to create a post on the Android app: during or after upload.

During upload: Hit the camera icon in the bottom center of the screen. You can upload from your camera or use images from your camera's gallery. After selecting all of the images you'd like to upload, tap the next button top right. Make sure the Public privacy setting is visible. This can also be switched to "Only me" by tapping on "Public".

Next, you can add some tags to help people find your post:

After upload: Head to thePosts section of your profile and go to the post you want to share. Tap the settings button in the top right corner and select "Edit Post". You'll then have the ability to change the privacy setting to Public. Don't forget to add tags and a title before tapping Save.

iOS App

2. Next, you canadd add a title that will tell the community what your post is about.If you don't want your post to be viewed publicly by the community, tap on the "Public"option and change it to "Only Me".

3.You can add more images if you want by tapping on the "+Add images button".

4. You can add tags to help people find your post.

5. You can also adddescriptions under each image. If you write a hashtag (e.g #cute) in a description, it will automatically apply it as a tag unless you already have assigned the maximum five tags.

6. Need to re-arrange your images in your post? Tap the 3 dots under your post title and hit "Re-arrange images". Then drag and drop to put them in the order you want. All descriptions will stay with their image.

7. If your post contains mature content, be sure to turn that option on.

When you're ready for your masterpiece to be seen, hit the green "Post" at the top of the post, above the title. Let the upvotes flow!

Anytime you navigate away from the video on Imgur it will automatically pause and mute the audio. This includes when you scroll down to read comments on the post.

How to Enable and Disable Sound

Desktop

You toggle sound on a post with sound by clicking on the sound icon in the lower right of the post:

Video will only play if you are viewing the post on Imgur. If you navigate away from the video by scrolling to view comments, or changing tabs on your browser, the video will automatically pause. Video Controls will display anytime you hover a Video.

Mobile Apps

From both iOS and Android when viewing a post on Imgur that has video there will be an option to enable sound from the top right of the post. Enabling sound only works per video. You will need to enable sound for each individual video you wish to hear.

2. Tap on a tag you want to see more posts relating to that tag. The example below showing "gaming".
