View ArticleForward your domain using CNAME forwarding and you will still be able to make use of features like email accounts through your external domain host.
Please set up a 301 redirect so that your website can be accessed without any hassle. Please also make sure that you’ve added the domain to your Jimdo website.
You should adjust the following settings at your domain provider.
Setting up CNAME
CNAME forwarding uses the following structure:
www.yourdomain.xx CNAME web.jimdosite.com
Exchange “yourdomain.xx” with your own data. Here is an example:
www.my-examplewebsite.com CNAME web.jimdosite.com
The target of your redirect has to be web.jimdosite.com.
web.jimdosite.com is not a placeholder!
Setting up a 301 redirect
Set up a 301 redirect so that visitors can access your website if they don’t type in www. in front of your domain name.
Do it as follows (exchange the placeholders):
Source: yourdomain.xx
target address: www.yourdomain.xx
Note
After setting up the domain forwarding, it can take up to 24 hours for the changes to take effect.

View ArticleIf you’d like your website to appear on search engines, you should use significant words or phrases in your content. Adding keywords to each page helps search engines and visitors get a sense of what it is about and whether your website will be relevant for them. Such texts are especially important on your homepage in order to make your website ‘Google-friendly’.
Of course, Google has to know that your website exists before it can appear within its search. To do so, Google uses so called ‘crawlers’ to visit and index your website.
When will Google visit my website?
It’s up to Google to visit your website - only they know when to send their crawlers your way. Sometimes it takes Google a couple of days to crawl new websites, but in some cases it can also take several weeks.
Can I accelerate the process?
You may add your website to the Google Search Console and use the URL Inspection Tool. Afterwards, you can tell Google to index your website. Please note that it may still take a while for Google to actually index your website.
Can I check the current status?
Yes! You can check whether your website has already been indexed by typing in the following into Google’s search box:
site:YOUR WEBSITE ADDRESS
Example: site:my-new-website.com
