Executive Bio

Mr. Joaquin Duato has been Worldwide Chairman of Pharmaceuticals at Johnson & Johnson since January 3, 2011 and has been its Executive Vice President since April 9, 2016. Mr. Duato served as Group Chairman of Johnson & Johnson until January 3, 2011. He has been a Trustee of Save The Children Federation, Incorporated since 2012. He is responsible for the global commercial businesses of the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson. Mr. Duato oversees the Operations, Quality and Compliance functional groups that support the pharmaceutical Commercial and Research & Development organizations. Previously, he was Company Group Chairman, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Inc., once a Johnson & Johnson company in the Medical Devices & Diagnostics segment. Joaquin's professional experience in the healthcare industry spans sales, marketing and general management. He began his career at Johnson & Johnson in 1989 with Janssen-Cilag Spain and later became Managing Director of Janssen-Cilag Italy. He then led Ortho Biotech Europe before relocating to the United States in 2002 to serve as President, Ortho Biotech Products, L.P. in 2005. A native of Valencia, Spain, Joaquin holds an undergraduate degree in economics and two master's degrees ??? one in business administration from ESADE Business School in Barcelona; the other in international management from Thunderbird in Phoenix, Arizona. Joaquin is a member of the Board of Directors of the Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). He currently serves as its elected Treasurer and chair of the State Committee. He is also a member of the Board of the European Federation of the Pharmaceutical Industry and Associations (EFPIA), the Board of Trustees of Save the Children and the International Advisory Board of the ESADE Business School.
