The leadership team demonstrates active investment in employees' growth
The leadership team values and promotes transparency. A lot of companies say that but JOOR truly demonstrates it with monthly All-Hands Meetings that ensure that every member of the community remains informed.
They live radical candor through every aspect of how they operate. Even when it's not butterflies and rainbows, they are transparent and tell you, provide the constructive feedback you need, and help you excel quicker than any other place I've worked.
Transparency and accountability and diversity.
They are misaligned, a lot of mud slinging. The executive team cannot hire or retain good senior staff to save its life.
Generous time off and stock options
For a startup our size to compete on salary in NYC is difficult, but JOOR has been focused on ensuring market rate compensation and equity for the work you put in. The equity in relation to how the company is growing is very exciting.
Stock options and market rate salaries.
The base salary is decent but could be better. The commission is ridiculous. The structure is built so its hard to get a decent payout every quarter and if you get a payout, its nowhere near what you should get for your hard work. Ive worked for other companies where the commission is much better.
Not willing to listen to any solutions, only told to keep your head down and do what you're told.
We are all helping each other and there's a good team spirirt
The culture is the highlight of working here. The people I work with are amazing to be around -- both at work and outside of work -- and I learn something from them every single day.
My team places an emphasis on autonomy. Everyone supports one another and provides help and mentorship while simultaneously allowing for independence and ownership.
It doesn't matter what the role is, who the person is, everyone is willing to do what it takes to help move us forward, fill gaps, and excel. It's a mature startup yes, but don't let the time JOOR has been around fool you – the team is scrappy

Everyone is there for each other and helping each other
Everyone I work with is always so generous with their time. Even higher level execs and managers will make time for anyone who seeks their mentorship or advice, and will offer help and guidance in whatever way they can to foster someone's career growth.
The most positive aspect of the culture here at JOOR is the opportunities for growth. Through constant communication with my manager, I feel that my growth has been facilitated and nurtured here at JOOR.

I spoke with different people from different roles
The interview process allows the candidate to meet many people they might interact with day-to-day if hired. There are no rote memorization challenges nor exercises deliberately designed to stump the candidate, just engaging 1-on-1 discussions.
I liked that I had the opportunity to meet and speak with not only my direct teammates but people that I am now working with cross-functionally in my day-to-day.
It focused on things that the team needs, ie. good problem solvers and didn't disqualify on teachable things ie. a coding language.

As an engineer, I am constantly given the chance to learn from new and interesting technical challenges using cutting-edge software solutions
The ability to pursue things that I am excited or passionate about is what makes me the most excited to come to work each day.
There's always a new challenge. It's still operating like a startup chasing huge goals, and the growth personally bc of the environment is tremendous. I am doing things that I didn't know I had in me, and would've spent 10 years begging managers at other organizations for the opportunity to do.

Have an actual tech culture. Free booze/snacks and parties (that require you to stay at work longer) are not a culture.
