What do you like best about the leadership team?
The team is passionate about the services we sell
They WERE professional, organized, nice, and completely competent... then Kaplan fired them.
They listen to new ideas.
What I love about our leadership here is that they lead by example. It's a great company culture thanks largely to how they deal with both success and adversity. Competitive, but compassionate.
CEO and COO are ethical, approachable and caring individuals.
What does the leadership team need to get better at?
Being in touch with the people who work at the bottom. They might as well be on another planet.
What is the best part about your compensation package?
I appreciate Paid Family Leave
I get paid what I am worth.
The amount of vacation days is great. I started off at 3 weeks. Every other company I've worked for started me out at 2.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?
Since I am one of the most unimportant people at the company (i.e. teacher. How ironic, since it is an "education" company), I don't have benefits or stocks.
Higher pay. Not an expectation to work "under 40 hrs" a week, especially when you clearly work more than that.
Commissions are great; base pay bleh but not below average. Good enough if you work hard. Good OT opportunities.
Minimal 401k contributions by employer, low pay
What are some of the best things about your team?
The teachers are great. Some of the faculty managers have been great. Maby are awful. There is constant musical chairs among management, though, so you may only have a faculty manager for a few months before he moves on.
Smart, genius level smart. Fun and nice.
How much the team comes together to get things done
Great people who really care.
We are a creative and collaborative bunch.

What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?
The other teachers are great.
Inclusive of everyone , regardless of background.
It's a very inclusive culture
Everyone truly cares about our students.
There's a lot of enthusiasm and passion for what we do. Company-wide activities are also fantastic.
What needs to change to make the company culture better?
Meetings need to be more efficient and directed, better communication about work being done by different parts of team, more velocity
What did you like most about the interview process?
They are very selective. It's competitive!
What would you improve about your company's interview process?
When I came on board, we could deal with people. Now they do auditions via video, interviews via video with someone who doesn't have the power to hire. Finally, they will do a video interview with the person who has the power to hire, but it takes a long time and is impersonal.
What makes you most happy at work?
Satisfaction from helping students & closing deals!

The quality / importance of the work
IMHO, the people make Kaplan.
Approachable, caring leadership. Great, smart, engaged colleagues. Autonomy and the ability to experiment. Mission-based environment.
What's going wrong and how can it be improved?
Kaplan always finds ways to make something that could be simple complicated. Also, they want excellence from the workers but don't lead by example. The management treats clients poorly, and we at the bottom have to somehow make clients happy with the mess.
Massive layoffs. The people they are cutting are essential to Kaplan Test prep, this company will hemorrhage massive talent do to their self inflicted wound.
