How employees describe working at M/I Homes
Good value for the money.
So far they're unlike most big builders in that they truly care about both their customer and employees. I've worked for several national builders and my brief time with M/I Homes has been amazing! I'm looking forward to continuing this journey with them.
Integrity of the company translates into its employees

What do people at M/I Homes think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
The CEO inherited his company from family.
How's the work life balance at M/I Homes?
In the IS department, work life balance is very poor. Lip service is paid to the topic, and then it is expected that you will work a minimum of 55-60 hours a week "before overtime" (which is a joke because most people are salaried.)
Does M/I Homes have any remote positions?
Yes
How does M/I Homes make decisions around promotions?
Promotions are largely handled internally. You are groomed for a role, it is posted, you are interviewed and placed in the role. Outside candidates are only welcome when no one internal exists to fill a role.
How's the vacation policy at M/I Homes?
Vacation and sick time are all in the same PTO bucket. This results in everyone sitting on their PTO "in case they get sick" until the two months before the end of the year. PTO is not cumulative year to year, so basically the entire company takes the last two months off in the year and it's nearly impossible to get anything accomplished.
What interview questions does M/I Homes ask?
They want to know about your organizational skills, experience, and competency.
What part of M/I Homes's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Tampa/Texas.
