They're communicative about the direction of the business and our financial situation

Accessible, easy to talk to, and willing to listen. They are growing and evolving as the business changes. Those who have joined in the past year are amazing.

Work on communication and explaining the "why" of strategy better. Understand the current job market is super-competitive and do more to retain the employees you have.
