Bryan W. Sanders — President of Wholesale Operations at Markel Corporation

Mr. Bryan W. Sanders serves as the President of Wholesale Operations at Markel Corp. Mr. Sanders served as Executive Vice President of Wholesale Division of Markel Corp. He joined Markel with the acquisition of Alterra Capital Holdings Limited. Mr. Sanders served as the Chief Executive Officer of Alterra Specialty at Alterra Capital Holdings Limited (Alterra Holdings Limited) since September 6, 2011. Mr. Sanders has over thirty years of insurance industry experience. He joined Alterra Specialty in 2006 as head of Contract Binding Authority and also served as Alterra Specialty's Chief Operating Officer. He served as President of HRH's Dominion Specialty Group. Prior to that, he served as President of MacDuff Underwriters, Inc., a managing general agency and a subsidiary of Brown and Brown. He also held various management, underwriting and production positions with Champion Underwriters, Yanoff South, Aetna Casualty and Surety and several independent insurance agencies. He served as a Director of the Excess and Surplus Lines Division for Hilb Rogal and Hobbs Company. Mr. Sanders holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Kent State University.
