James P. Arnold — Chief Administrative Officer of Wholesale Division at Markel Corporation

Mr. James P. Arnold has been the Chief Administrative Officer for Wholesale Division at Markel Corp. since February 2015. Mr. Arnold joined Markel in 2010. He served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Gab Robins Group of Companies , a holding company of Gab Robins North America, Inc. since April 18, 2005. He served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Brera Gab Robins, LLC. He joined GAB Robins and served as its Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary since 2003. He provided litigation management and claims support services to insurance and reinsurance company clients and served as Vice President of Beacon Management Group, Inc. He began his career in 1987 with Guy Carpenter & Company, Inc. and moved to Burmah Castrol North America, Inc. and served as its Attorney/Business Insurance Manager since 1994. He served as the Chief Administrative Officer of FirstComp Insurance Co., where he was responsible for operations, customer service, legal and compliance teams. He served as Senior Attorney of Burmah Castrol North America since 1996 and Assistant General Counsel since 1998. Upon the sale of Burmah Castrol to BP/Amoco in 2000, he orchestrated the spin-off of Benefits and Payroll departments into a standalone business process outsourcing company, where he served as Vice President, General Counsel, until 2002. He is Member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the American Corporate Counsel Association, the New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association and the American Bar Association. Mr. Arnold received his Juries Doctorate from Villanova University School of Law and Graduated Magna Cum Laude from LaSalle University.
