Jed Rhoads — Chief Underwriting Officer of Property Reinsurance & President of Markel Global Reinsurance at Markel Corporation

Mr. Jed Rhoads serves as President and Chief Underwriting Officer for Global Reinsurance Division at Markel Global Reinsurance Company. Mr. Rhoads serves as the President of Markel Global Reinsurance and Chief Underwriting Officer of Property Reinsurance for Markel Global Reinsurance at Markel Corp. He has over thirty years of experience in treaty reinsurance, both as an underwriter and broker. He served as President of Property and Chief Underwriting Officer of Property at Markel Corp. Mr. Rhoads served as Managing Director of Non-Traditional and Casualty of Underwriting Bermuda at Alterra Holdings Limited and Chubb Re, Inc. Mr. Rhoads served as Chief Underwriting Officer and President of Alterra Bermuda Reinsurance Business at Alterra Capital Holdings Limited since April 2011 and April 2012 respectively and served as its Executive Vice President of Alterra Bermuda Reinsurance Business from April 2011 to April 2012. He served as President and Chief Underwriting Officer at Bermuda Reinsurance. He served as President of Bermuda Reinsurance and President of Alterra Holdings Limited. He served as Managing Director of US and Canada Cat at Alterra Reinsurance Limited (formerly, Harbor Point Re Limited). From 2002 to 2012, he served as Managing Director responsible for property catastrophe, retrocessional and structured business for Alterra Bermuda and its predecessor operations, Harbor Point Re and Chubb Re Bermuda. Prior to that, he served as Chief Underwriting Officer of OPL Limited Bermuda and as Principal, Underwriter at Stockton Re Limited Bermuda. For thirteen years, he served as Executive Vice President, East Coast Regional Manager of Sedgwick Re reinsurance intermediary (acquired by MMC in 1998 and now part of Guy Carpenter). He began his career in 1981 as a reinsurance underwriter at Kemper Reinsurance Company in Long Grove, Illinois. Mr. Rhoads serves as a Director at New Point VI Ltd. He is Vice Chairman of the Bermuda Independent Underwriters Association. Mr. Rhoads is a graduate of the Insurance Executive Development Program at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from Beloit College, where he was a Kemper Scholar.
