He was responsible for the treasury, tax, controllership, internal audit, IT, operations and investor relations functions at Medtronic. He has been an Independent Director of The Toro Company since June 26, 2006. He serves as a Director of MG Biotherapeutics LLC; Medtronic Australasia Pty Limited and Medtronic ATS Medical, Inc. Mr. Ellis serves on the boards of the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Greater Twin Cities United Way. He served as a Director of Itamar Medical Ltd., since 2007 until February 2, 2017. He served as a Director of Salient Surgical Technologies, Inc., since 2006; Medtronic, Inc. since January 26, 2015; Kyphon Inc., and Medtronic Spine LLC. He is very active in community activities and has contributed many years of service on the Board of Directors and as President of his local church and other non-profit organizations. He is a Member of the Minnesota Society of CPAs. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Ellis holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1978 from the University of South Dakota, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
