Gary L. Ellis — Former Executive Vice President of Global Operations & Information Technology at Medtronic

Mr. Gary L. Ellis was Consultant at Medtronic plc since January 1, 2017 since December 31, 2017. Mr. Ellis served as the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Medtronic Minimed, Inc. since May 1, 2005. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Covidien plc since January 26, 2015 and served as its Chief Financial Officer. He was responsible for the treasury, tax, controllership, internal audit, IT, operations and investor relations functions at Medtronic. He served as the Chief Financial Officer, Principal Accounting Officer and Senior Vice President of Medtronic ATS Medical, Inc. since August 12, 2010. He served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President at Medtronic, Inc. until April 2014. He served as Vice President and Corporate Controller at Medtronic from August 1994 to October 1999 and Senior Vice President from May 1, 2005 to April 2014 and was responsible for the finance and accounting functions throughout Medtronic and its Treasurer from October 1999 to May 2005. He joined Medtronic in 1989 and served as its Assistant Corporate Controller and served as Vice President of Finance of Medtronic Europe from 1992 to 1994. Mr. Ellis served as a Senior Audit Manager of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where, in addition to several other responsibilities, he managed Medtronic audit for nearly ten years. He worked with several large corporate organizations, as well as providing audit services to numerous non-profit organizations. He served as the Chairman of American Heart Association from 2007 to 2008. He has been a Director at Hill-Rom Holdings, Inc. since October 05, 2017. He has been an Independent Director of The Toro Company since June 26, 2006. He serves as a Director of MG Biotherapeutics LLC; Medtronic Australasia Pty Limited and Medtronic ATS Medical, Inc. Mr. Ellis serves on the boards of the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Greater Twin Cities United Way. He served as a Director of Itamar Medical Ltd., since 2007 until February 2, 2017. He served as a Director of Salient Surgical Technologies, Inc., since 2006; Medtronic, Inc. since January 26, 2015; Kyphon Inc., and Medtronic Spine LLC. He is very active in community activities and has contributed many years of service on the Board of Directors and as President of his local church and other non-profit organizations. He is a Member of the Minnesota Society of CPAs. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Ellis holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1978 from the University of South Dakota, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
