Executive Bio

Mr. Robert J. W. ten Hoedt, also known as Rob, has been an Executive Vice President and Group President of Europe, Middle East and Africa Region at Medtronic plc since January 2015. Mr. ten Hoedt served as Senior Vice President and President of EMEA & Canada at Medtronic, Inc. from 2009 to May 2014. He served as President of Europe and Central Asia operations at Medtronic since June 2009. He served as President of Medtronic Western Europe & Canada at Medtronic, Inc. Mr. ten Hoedt served as Vice President of the CardioVascular business for Europe and Central Asia. He has over 25 years of experience in the medical device business and has a wealth of experience in sales, sales management, marketing and general management. Prior to Medtronic, Mr. ten Hoedt held positions in a number of medical technology companies including Arjo Hospital Equipment and Polystan Benelux. His career in Medtronic started in 1991 in Brussels as Marketing Manager for the Neurological business in Western Europe. In 1994, he led the start up of Medtronic's Gastro-Uro business in Europe and later held global responsibility. In 1999, Mr. ten Hoedt served as Vice President and General Manager of Vitatron, a Netherlands based, wholly owned subsidiary of Medtronic, responsible for developing and marketing pacing devices. In 2006, Mr. ten Hoedt moved to Medtronic's European headquarters in Switzerland to lead the Western European CardioVascular business. He serves as Chairman of the Board of MedTech Europe, the Association representing the medical technology industry in Europe. He serves as Vice Chairman of MD Start SA. Mr. ten Hoedt has been an Independent Director of Pixium Vision SA since January 3, 2017. He served as a Director of Medtronic Holdings Ltd and Medtronic, Inc. until January 9, 2015. He holds a degree in Commercial Economy from the H.E.A.O. and a Masters in Marketing from the NIMA Business School in the Netherlands.
