Executive Bio

Ms. Phyllis A. James has been an Executive Vice President at MGM Resorts International since July 2010 and served as its Chief Diversity Officer and Special Counsel-Litigation since 2009 and July 2010 until October 2016. Ms. James served as the Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of MGM Resorts International from March 2002 to July 2010. Ms. James served as a Senior Counsel of MGM Resorts International since March 2002. From 1994 to 2001, Ms. James served as Corporation (General) Counsel and Law Department Director for the City of Detroit. In that capacity she also served on various public and quasi-public boards and commissions on behalf of the City, including the Election Commission, the Detroit Building Authority and the Board of Ethics. Prior thereto, from 1985 to 1994, she practiced law as a partner with Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro.
