What do people at MGM Resorts International think about the CEO? What do they do well and what can they improve?
He's generally well liked. I don't know if he has much to improve on.
If you could make changes, how would you improve the culture at MGM Resorts International?
Stop being so top heavy. Departments don't need 12 VPs, 8 directors, 5 managers, and 1 specialist.
What part of MGM Resorts International's business is growing fastest? What part is having difficulties?
Fast - entertainment. Slow - gaming.
What's the interview process like at MGM Resorts International?
Top Employee Response
First interview with the hiring manager then 2nd interview with VP if they like you. If not, you either get a form letter saying you didn't get it or a fairly standard call from the hiring manager thanking you for applying. If they like you enough for a 2nd interview, it's usually with an ED or VP.
What interview questions does MGM Resorts International ask?
On the first interview it's pretty standard: What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? Have you ever had a problem that you had to handle on your own? How did handle said problem?
What's the office vibe like at MGM Resorts International?
Pretty chill at corporate.
What benefits does MGM Resorts International provide?
The direct care health plan is sort of like a combination of PPO and HMO. Low rates but you have to get auth from your PCP in order to see specialists. Also, generic meds are free and most providers have to see you within 15 mins of your appointment.
How's the work life balance at MGM Resorts International?
Great, especially for corporate. I can't speak for Directors and above.
How does MGM Resorts International make decisions around promotions?
I don't know. All I know is you're probably not gonna get it.
How's the vacation policy at MGM Resorts International?
PTO is pretty easy to earn. Managers and above get FTO (flex time off) and technically have unlimited hours, as long as business permits and your boss approves. Problem is, most of us on FTO end up taking less time off than we did when we had a finite amount of hours accrued.
How much and how often do raises happen at MGM Resorts International?
If you don't ask, you don't get it. Most people don't ask until it's way too late and they're already disgruntled.
How challenged are you at MGM Resorts International?
There's always a new challenge everyday, especially with everything that's been going on regarding One October.
How difficult is it to maintain a social life while in your job at MGM Resorts International?
Not hard, but I'm in marketing.
How rewarding is your job at MGM Resorts International?
Ask me again in 6 months. My wife is a recruiting manager at Robert Half and tells me I'm well under the industry average in terms of pay.
How do you feel about going to work at MGM Resorts International everyday?
Been great for the most part. There were moments where I was part of a consolidation and wasn't sure if I was going to be offered a position or not, so that gave me some anxiety, but for the most part I've been happy.
How's the feedback proccess at MGM Resorts International?
Not bad actually. HR is great.
What kind of people succeed at MGM Resorts International?
People who know how to collaborate and succeed in working groups.
How can I improve my chances of being hired at MGM Resorts International?
Apply. There are so many open job opportunities. Keep your salary expectations low. MGM Resorts pays below market because they offer so many fringe benefits that can't always be valued monetarily.
How secure do you feel at your job at MGM Resorts International?
I used to feel very secure. I will hit 10 years with the company pretty soon, but after One October, sentiments have changed.
What's the best part of your job at MGM Resorts International?
Multiple job opportunities.
How's the work pace at MGM Resorts International?
Work pace on property is pretty hectic. Corporate is more manageable.
What are the team outings like at MGM Resorts International?
Recent have been volunteer events. It depends on your team. I saw that a corporate marketing team was recently created and for their first team outing they went to Top Golf and were treated to comp food and drinks. My team, on the other hand, usually does a quarterly meet up at a bar at Town Square (woohoo).
Hello, i am curious what it is like to work there as a project manager, ups and downs of it?
It all depends on the leadership of the department. Most departments are top heavy and are usually on a horizontal alignment so there will be times where a manager would have 2 or more directors to work with. Upside is, if you're trying to develop your project management skills, this is a good way of being part of multiple projects at a time.
How common is it to switch departments or teams at MGM Resorts International?
Fairly common. I've been with the company 10 years and have switched departments 6x.
