They need to understand what is actually going on in the day to day world of the people that are solving the problems. It's easy to stand off in the distance and say you're not doing it right when you don't understand much of anything that goes into the decision making process for problem solving.
Pay that is comparable to the economy and the cost of living.
I did not get any raise when I took on a senior leadership position and more responsibility. Upon taking over for my team, I realized there was someone else on the team that contributes much less and had a higher salary.
I have talked to other engineers that are friends of mine and I am way underpaid compared to them
Have less meetings to try to prove their value and actually focus on specific tasks and develop solutions.
Taking better care of hourly hands.

I would prefer if we were organized with the same objectives, there is constant conflict between departments
