Frequently Asked Questions About NATIVE INSTRUMENTS

  • TRAKTOR 2.11 and MASCHINE 2.5.6 introduce Ableton Link integration. With Ableton Link you can sync supported applications via a local network (LAN or Wi-Fi) connection.

Connecting two or more systems via Ableton Link gives users the ability to synchronize all systems to a common timeline and change the tempo globally from each of the connected systems. This article explains how to sync TRAKTOR with MASCHINE via Ableton Link.

Important note: This procedure requires at least the versions TRAKTOR 2.11 and MASCHINE 2.5.6.

    Connecting to a Network

Applications that support Ableton Link can automatically join an Ableton Link session. For this, simply make sure that the computers running TRAKTOR and MASCHINE are currently connected to a local network via Wi-Fi or LAN. It does not matter if you are using both applications, TRAKTOR and MASCHINE, on one computer or if they run on 2 separate computers.

Joining / Leaving Ableton Link with TRAKTOR

    Open TRAKTOR 2.11 (or higher).

Press the LINK button located in TRAKTOR's header.

    This article

TRAKTOR will either join an existing Ableton Link session or begin a new session. While connected, the LINK button displays how many other systems are currently connected to the same network via Ableton Link. Click LINK again to leave the Ableton Link network.

To ensure that the TRAKTOR Decks are always matched to the common Link timeline, make sure to selectBeatSync Mode in:

Preferences > Transport > Sync Mode

explains the different SyncModes that are available for TRAKTOR and instructs how to match the downbeat, reset the phase, etc. It also contains a list of known issues.

Joining / Leaving Ableton Link with MASCHINE

    Open MASCHINE 2.5.6 (or higher).

Press the LINK button in MASCHINE's header.

MASCHINE will join the existing Ableton Link session and sync to TRAKTOR. While connected, the LINK button displays how many other systems are currently connected to the same network via Ableton Link. Click LINK again to leave the Ableton Link network.

Now TRAKTOR and MASCHINE are synced via Ableton Link and share the same timeline.

  • Symptom

When starting your MASCHINE 2 software, the controller freezes and the displays do not react to the software or show only 'Maschine / Groove Production Studio'.

    Causes

This behavior can be caused by different factors. Click the possible causes one by one to be redirected to the corresponding troubleshooting steps below:

The MASCHINE software is not up to date.

The HAL plug-in folder contains drivers which are not supported.

The NIHardwareAgent is not running in the background.

The MASCHINE hardware was powered on before the computer (MASCHINE MK3 and STUDIO only)

Your MASCHINE model is not supported by current Mac systems.

Thecomputer's system drive is formatted in a case-sensitive format.

There is an issue with the USB connection.

    Solutions

    1. The MASCHINE software is not up to date

Download and install the latest version of MASCHINE from the Not installed tab in Native Access. If your operating system does not support the latest software update, you can download the corresponding compatible version from here.

    2. The HAL plug-in folder contains drivers which are not supported

Your MASCHINE controller may not start when an outdated version of the AVID CoreAudio plug-in is installed under OS X 10.10.5 or higher. The solutions are as follows:

2.1. Update the AVID CoreAudio Driver

In most cases the issue will be fixed after the installation of the latest update of the AVID CoreAudio Driver. If installing the latest update of the AVID CoreAudio Driver is not an option or the issue persists, please continue:

2.2. Removing the Avid CoreAudio Plug-in

Disclaimer: This procedure describes the manual uninstallation of a third-party manufacturercomponent. Native Instruments cannot be held responsible for any damages to your system caused byfollowingtheseinstructions.

Open Finder and navigate to the folder:

    macOS 10.14 (or older): Macintosh HD >Library >Audio >Plug-Ins >HAL

    macOS 10.15: Macintosh HD > System > Library > Audio > Plug-ins > HAL

Copy the "Avid CoreAudio.plugin" to another location, for example the Desktop.

Delete the"Avid CoreAudio.plugin" from the HAL Plug-in folder.

Type in theadmin password when prompted.

    Restart your computer.

While you can fully use Pro Tools without the Avid CoreAudio plug-in, it is not possible to monitor the audio output of any CoreAudio application using your Avid HDaudio interface after removing the file. If you should require this functionality again, move the file back to its original location in the HAL folderand restart your computer.

    2.3 Updating /Removing OtherPlug-ins

If there are more ".plug-in" files in this folder, visit the manufacturer's website and install the latest updates for these plug-ins. Should the problem persist, try temporarily removing the ".plugin" files from the HAL folder as explained in step 2 above.

    3. The NIHardwareAgent is not running in the background.

Make sure that the NIHardwareAgent application is set as startup item.

Open your Mac's System Preferences and choose Users & Groups.

Make sure your account is selected under Current User and go to the Login Items tab. Verify if the the NIHardwareAgent is listed in the login items.

    MASCHINE Hardware Solution Wizard

If the file NIHardwareAgent is missing in the list, add it by clicking the '+' icon.

    Navigate to the following location:

Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Hardware

Select the missing service and click Add:

The NIHardwareAgent is now set as a login item. Restart your computer, start the MASCHINE software and check if your controller startsas expected. If this is not the case, continue troubleshooting.

4.The MASCHINE hardware was powered on before the computer (MASCHINE MK3 and STUDIO only)

The correct sequence to connect and power up your device is:

    Switch on your computer.

Connect your MASCHINE MK3 or STUDIO (if it is not already connected).

Press the power switch on the rear panel of the controller to switch it on.

    5. Your MASCHINE model is not supported by current Mac systems

There are three different MASCHINE controller models. If you are using the first-generation MASCHINE MK1 (out of production), it might not be recognized by your Mac system as it is no longer supported on macOS 10.12 (Sierra) or later. The MASCHINE MK1 model is pictured below:

Although it is not officially supported, the following workaround might help you get it running on macOS 10.12, 10.13 and 10.14:

Note: this workaround is not working on macOS 10.15 (or higher) anymore.

Delete the Maschine Controller Driver .plist file:

    Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences > com. native-instruments.Maschine Controller.plist

Delete the "NIUSBMaschineController" file from here:

Macintosh HD > System > Library > Extensions

    Restart your computer.

Install the 2.8.0 driver Maschine driver again. You will find the "MASCHINE Controller Driver 2.8.0 - Mac OS X 10.9 - 10.11" from the Drivers & Other Files page of our website.

Additional step for macOS 10.13 and 10.14: once the driver's installation is finished, open the Apple Preferences and navigate to Security & Privacy option. Accept, ifyou are requested to "ALLOW" the Native Instruments driver here.

    6. Thecomputer's system drive is formatted in a case-sensitive format.

Case-sensitive hard drive formats are not supported by Native Instruments products and will prevent the MASCHINE controller to start as expected. This article explains how to find out if your hard drive's format is case-sensitive. If it is not, continue troubleshooting.

    7. The USB cable or the USB hub is not supported.

Use the original USB cableprovided with your MASCHINE controller. If not available anymore, this article contains information which will help you choose a suitable USB cable.

If possible, always connect your MASCHINE controller directly to your computer's USB port. If you must use a USB-hub, make sure it has its own power supply.

  • This article explains how to set up TRAKTOR PRO 3 to control playback via Timecode from an external turntable or CD player.

TRAKTOR PRO 3 introduces the Scratch for All feature - it now supports any audio device for Timecode control, provided the required audio inputs (PHONO for Timecode vinyl / LINE for Timecode CD) are offered.

Note: This still requires the use of TRAKTOR SCRATCH Timecode media and will not work with any Timecodes from 3rd-party manufacturers.

The article explains a basic setup with two Timecode-controlled Decks. In this example, we are using a Rane SL 4 audio interface.

Make sure TRAKTOR PRO 3 is installed and activated on your computer

Make sure that the correct driver for your audio interface is properly installed and the device is being recognized by your computer.

Make sure that your audio interface is connected to the computer and receives enough power (use a power supply if necessary).

Connect your turntables or CD players to the IN connectors of the audio interface.

Run the Setup Wizard by clicking on the Setup Wizard button in the lower left corner of the TRAKTOR Preferences.

In the DECK LAYOUT SELECTION, choose 2 Track Decks (Scratch).

When the Setup Wizard is finished, open the TRAKTOR Preferences and go to Audio Setup. Make sure your audio interface is selected in the Audio Device menu.

    Input Configuration

As next step, TRAKTOR's Input Routing needs to be configured: the inputs which your external hardware has been connected to must be assigned to Decks A AND B - this is how it looks:

Deck A will be controlled by the Timecode signal coming in on Channel A left/right (SL 4 In 0-1), Deck B by the Timecode signal coming in on Channel B left/right (SL 4 In 2-3).

Note: Ensure to choose the right input mode depending on your audio device whether you use turntables or CDs. Please refer to the documentation of your specific audio device in order to find the procedure explained.

    Output Configuration

    External Mixing Mode

If you are using an external mixer, connect the outputs of your audio interface to the LINE inputs (not PHONO!) of your external mixer.

Go toOutput Routing in the TRAKTOR Preferences.

Set the Mixing Mode to External. The outputs will automatically be set in the correct order, which looks like this:

The signal from Deck A will go to the Output Channel A (SL4 Out 0-1) on the audio interface, Deck B will go to Output Channel B (SL4 Out 2-3) and so on.

    Internal Mixing Mode

If your setup does not include an external mixer, you can also use the Internal Mixing Mode.

Note: This setup requires a sound card which offers a headphone connector.

Go to the Output Routing in the TRAKTOR Preferences.

Set the Mixing Mode to Internal.

In order to configure this setup, connect one output channel of your sound card to the line input of your speaker system and assign this channel to Output Master. Connect your headphones to the dedicated connector on your sound card and assign the corresponding channel to Output Monitor.

    Deck Configuration

In order to monitor the incoming Timecode signal, activate the Scope Panels for both decks. The Scope Panels are a graphical representation of the Timecode signal and allow you to trigger its calibration.

Go to the Decks Layoutsection in the TRAKTOR Preferences.

In the section Platter / Scope, choose Scope for the Decks you want to control with Timecode.

Now you can close the Preferences and start the playback on your Timecode Deck by dropping the needle on your running Timecode record or pressing play on your CD Player to run the Timecode CD. During playback, either the Relative or Absolute Mode button will light up. You may click on any of the Mode buttons to change the Mode.

During playback, the Calibration Scope should display a stable Timecode signal, as pictured below for Timecode vinyl and Timecode CD.

For more information on Relative and Absolute Mode, please refer to chapter 'Tracking Modes' in the TRAKTOR 3 user manual.

  • When loading an Ensemblein REAKTOR, you may receive one ofthe following error messages:

    REAKTOR 5.7 and higher:

Error while reading file *path of ensemble*. This file was saved with a newer version of Reaktor!

    this video

    Reaktor 5.6 or earlier:

Error while reading file *path of ensemble*. Not a valid \%1\% file!

Please install the latest REAKTOR update to fix this.

Note for Windows users: If you are using the REAKTOR plug-in and still receive the error message after installing the latest REAKTOR update, you have probably moved REAKTOR's plug-in .dll fileto the host's plug-in directory after the installation, which prevents it from being correctly updated. • Symptoms

You cannot hear TRAKTOR's Monitor signal in your headphones.

    Solutions

Verify each of the following settings as explained below until your headphone signal is restored:

    1. Output Routing

Make sure that the output channel corresponding to the headphones output of your audio interface is selected under Output Monitor(Left and Right) in Preferences > Output Routing.

In the example below we have verified that 3: Headphone Left and 4: Headphone Right are selected. This output channel corresponds with the headphone output on the TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 controller.

    here

    2. Activate Cue

Make sure that the cue signal for the Deck that you wish to pre-listen on your headphones has been activated:

Switch to the Mixer Layout via the Layout selection drop-down menu.

In the Mixer area of the Deck you wish to pre-listen, click on the headphones button.

    3. Headphone Controls

Make sure that the position of the MIX and VOL knobs in the area below the lower right Deck are set correctly:

When MIX is turned all the way to the left (0\%) you only hear the audio from the cued channel. Activate the headphones button for the Deck you want to pre-listen in order to engage the signal on your headphones.

When MIX is turned all the way to the right (100\%) you only hear the audio from the Master Output of TRAKTOR (the music playing on your speakers). Pull up the volume fader of the Deck that is playing in order to hearthe Master Output signal via your headphones.

The VOL knob sets your headphone output volume. Turn it clockwise to increase the volume of the signal coming to your headphones. Some audio interfaces control the amount of the headphone signal volume via a built-in knob on the device. In this case, make sure the VOL knob in the software isturned up, if notno monitor signal will come through to your audio interface.

    4. Test your Headphones

If none of the above settings has restored the headphone signal, please perform the following tests:

Test another headphone pair on the headphone output of your audio interface.

Test your headphones on another audio system.

Test your headphones using another headphone adapter (3.5 mm to 1/4'').

In case the test concludes that your headphones are working correctly, the physical headphone output of your audio interface may be defective. If you own a Native Instruments audio interface, you may contact our hardware support .

  • Symptom

When trying to load a preset from the MASCHINE 2 Browser, you receive the following error message mentioning a particular Native Instruments product:

Error: *NI Product* could not be loaded.

    Cause

When loading a preset from the Instrument section of the MASCHINE Browser, you actually load a plug-in (eg. FM8, MASSIVE, REAKTOR, etc.) which generates the sound of the preset. Additionally, many presets from the Instrument section of the Browser belong to KONTAKT Libraries or REAKTOR Ensembles.

The above error message indicatesthat the plug-in of the NI product or of KONTAKT/REAKTOR is not found in its original installation path.

    Solution

    Reinstall the NI Product

    Open Native Access.

Go to the Installed products taband scroll down to the NI product mentioned in the error message. Hover your mouse over FULL VERSION until you see a REINSTALL button. Press it to launch the reinstallation process.

Now, load the preset again in MASCHINE. If you still get the same error message, make sure both KONTAKT (or KONTAKT Player if you do not own the full version) and REAKTOR (or REAKTOR Player if you do not own the full version) are correctly installed. Please continue with the troubleshooting steps below.

    Reinstall KONTAKT and REAKTOR

    Open Native Access.

Go to the Installed products taband scroll down to Kontakt 5 (or Kontakt Player).

If they do not appear at all in the list, go to theNot installed tab and install it.

Hover your mouse over FULL VERSION until you see a REINSTALL button. Press it to launch the reinstallation process.

Go to the Installed products taband scroll down to Reaktor 6 Application (or Reaktor Player).

If they do not appear at all in the list, go to theNot installed tab and install it.

Hover your mouse over FULL VERSION until you see a REINSTALL button. Press it to launch the reinstallation process.

You can now close Native Access, restart MASCHINE and load the preset which was causing the issue. The preset should now load as expected.

When loading a Preset from the Instrument section of the KOMPLETE KONTROL Browser, you actually load a plug-in (eg. FM8, MASSIVE, REAKTOR, etc.) which generates the sound of the Preset. Additionally, many Presets from the Instrument section of the Browser belong to KONTAKT Libraries or REAKTOR Ensembles.

The above error message indicatesthat the Preset's VST plug-in or the KONTAKT/REAKTOR VST plug-in is not found in its original installation path.

Note: NI Expansions contain BATTERY 4 content which appears in KOMPLETE KONTROL. However, without a valid licence for BATTERY, this error will appear when attempting to load those BATTERY presets.

    Solution

    Open Native Access.

Go to the Installed products tab.

Reinstall the following NI products: KONTAKT 5, REAKTOR 6, MASSIVE, FM8, ABSYNTH 5. To do so, hover your mouse over FULL VERSION until you see a REINSTALL button. Press it to launch the reinstallation process.

You will now be able to load any Preset from the KOMPLETE KONTROL Browser without getting the Loading Issue Error Message.

  • This article explains how to record an external signal inMASCHINE 2. You will be guided through the following steps:

Assigning the physical inputs of youraudio interface to MASCHINE's Input

Setting up the MASCHINE Record Page

    Recording the external audio signal

Note: you can setup the MASCHINE Recorder and record the external signalusing only thehardware controller. For detailedinstructions on how to record an external signal with your controller, please consult the manual corresponding to your exact hardware model, chapter 14.2 Recording a sample.

Assigning the Physical Inputs of your Audio Interface to MASCHINE's Input

You can record an external signal through one ofMASCHINE's4 stereo Inputs. The first part of the setup consists inassigning the physical inputs of your audio interfaceto one of thesestereo inputs:

    Go to Preferences >Audio.

Make sure that the audio interface to which your external audio source (CD player, turntable, instrument or voice)is connected to is selected as audio Device. In our example, we will be using a Komplete Audio 6 audio interface to record the signal.

Go to the Routingssection and select Input. The left-hand side shows the MASCHINE Input channels. You can assign specific physical inputs of your audio interface to them on the right-hand side. Since our external signal is coming through the Input 1 L and 2 Rof our audio interface,we assign theseto MaschineIn1 L and In 1 R.

The physical input channels of your audio interfaceare now connected to MASCHINE'sInputs. The audio setup is now complete.

Setting up the MASCHINE Record Page

This part consists in preparing the MASCHINE Record page to record the external signal from your audio interfaceto a specific MASCHINE Input.

Click the Sample Editor button on the left of the Pattern Editor to switch to the Sample Editor. In the Sample Editor, click the Record tab at the top to open the Record page.

At the bottom of the Record page, click the SOURCE selector and chooseExtern. St.fromthe drop-down menu if you want to record a stereo signal. Choose Extern. Mono if you want to record a mono signal. In our example,we will be recording to a stereo audio file, sowe choose Ext. Ster.

Click the INPUT selectorto select which of MASCHINE's fourInputs you want to record. Since we have previously assigned our audio interface's physical inputs to MASCHINE's firstIn,we selectIn1.

Select which MODE you want to use for the recording. Here we will use Detect, since it is more appropriate for recording an external signal. With Detect, the recording will startwhen the incoming audio signal exceeds a definedthreshold value.

Note: If you select Sync mode, the recording will start in sync withMASCHINE's internal sequencer.

After having set the recording mode to Detect, you will notice the box to the right of the MODE selectorhas changed to THRESHOLD. You can now play your external audio signal. Check the incoming signal in the horizontal input level meters and setthe threshold accordingly by dragging the slider up or down. If you want your recording to start as soon as you press start, drag down the value of THRESHOLD until you reach the OFF state.

Note: if you have chosen to record in Sync mode, instead of defining a threshold value, you will have to define a LENGTH for your recorded sample.

Additionally you may wish to hear the incoming external source through MASCHINE'S Cue Output (e.g. your headphones). In this case, set MONITOR to On.

The MASCHINE Record page is now set up to record the external signal coming through your soundcard.

    Recording The External Audio Signal

Press the Start Button to start recording. In Detect mode, the recording will be launched as soon as the incoming signal has exceeded the threshold you have set previously.

Press the Start / Stop button once more to stop recording, or Cancel if you want to cancel it. The waveform of the recorded audio files will be displayed in the selected Sound.

After recording, the recorded audio files will be shown in the Waveform display, and the Sound Slot will be named after the recorded audio material. The recorded audio is named after *Date*T*Time*. If you have recorded several samples during your session, they will be displayed beneath the waveform of the last recorded sample. You can drag and drop these to an empty sound slot.

By default the recorded files are stored here in your hard drive:

    Mac: Macintosh HD > Users > *Username* > Documents > Native Instruments > Maschine 2 > Recordings

    Win: C: >Users > *Username* > myDocuments > Native Instruments > Maschine 2 > Recordings

Your external audio signalhas now been recorded in MASCHINE 2 andyou can start editing it.

  • 1. What is the difference between KOMPLETE Updates, Upgrades and Crossgrades?

Updates, Upgrades and Crossgrades are different software license types. Please read this article for more information.

    2. Is KOMPLETE 12 (ULTIMATE) compatible with my operating system?

You can find all system requirements on this page.

    3. Can I use the KOMPLETE 12 (ULTIMATE) hard drive as my sample library drive? Can I run applications or plug-ins directly from that drive?

The hard drive can only be used to install KOMPLETE 12 (ULTIMATE) on your system. Please read this article for more information.

    4. I already have an older version of KOMPLETE installed on my computer. How do I install the update / upgrade?

You install KOMPLETE 12 (ULTIMATE) with the tool Native Access.

    5. Will Native Access install my already installed products again?

Native Access recognizes the NI products that are already installed on your system and only offers the new products for installation. There will be no multiple versions of the same product.

    6. Do I have to uninstall older major product versions or will they be replaced?

You do not have to uninstall older major product versions. The new version will be installed in addition to the existing one. Example: if KONTAKT 5 is already installed on your system, KONTAKT 6 will not replace KONTAKT 5 and will be installed side-by-side. This way you can still use sequencer projects that contain instances of KONTAKT 5.

    7. Can I uninstall older major product versions?

If you do not need the older major product version (e.g. KONTAKT 4) and only want to use the new one (e.g. KONTAKT 5), you can uninstall the older version. These articles show how to uninstall NI products on Mac and PC. Please be aware that you won't be able to use sequencer projects that still contain the old major version, after you uninstalled it.

    8. Will my sequencer projects be affected by the update process?

If you are still working on projects that contain older major product versions (like BATTERY 3, KONTAKT 5, etc.), do not uninstall the old versions. The new versions will not replace the old versions and will be installed side-by-side. In this manner you can still open sequencer projects that contain instances of the old product version.

    9. There is not enough drive space on my computer. How do I install KOMPLETE 12 (ULTIMATE)?

You can choose the products that you want to install in Native Access. You do not have to install all products at once.

It is recommended to install the content, like KONTAKT Libraries, on an external hard drive. These libraries require most of the drive space of KOMPLETE. To do so, please specify the content location in Native Access as shown in this article.

    10. I want to install the KOMPLETE 12 (ULTIMATE) Update or Upgrade on a new system. Do I have to install my older KOMPLETE bundles first?

You do not have to install the older KOMPLETE bundles. You can directly install KOMPLETE 12 (ULTIMATE) with Native Access.

    11. Which products are included in KOMPLETE 12 (ULTIMATE)?

All products included in KOMPLETE 12

When you attempt to add a KONTAKT Library in Native Access, you receive the error:

Library path is not valid. Please browse again.

The above example shows the error occurring when attempting to add the Complete Orchestral Collection from Best Service.

    Cause

The primary cause of this error is having the incorrect folder chosen in Native Access.

Other causes are also covered in the solutions below.

    Solutions

    Selecting the correct Library folder

In the example in the screenshot above, the location /Volumes/NI content is chosen.

However, this location is not correct. The correct location is /Users/Shared/Complete orchestral collection as seen in the screenshot below:

Please click the BROWSE button and navigate to the specific folder of your KONTAKT Library. It is important that you choose the folder containing the .nicnt file of the library as shown in this example for the Kontakt Factory Library:

If this step has not resolved your issue, please try the additional solutions below:

    1. Library Download

If you want to add a 3rd party KONTAKT Library, ensure that the library is downloaded and unzipped as per the instructions from the manufacturer of that library. This may differ depending on the manufacturer as some use their own download manager to download and unzip the library files, while others will provide instructions on how to do this manually.

    2. Security Software Blocking Installation

We have also found that in some rare cases, certain security software (such asBitDefender antivirus free edition, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware)could cause an issue with adding the library. Try temporarily disabling any additional security software you may be running.

    3. Format of Harddisk

Hard drives formatted as "case sensitive" are not compatible with our products. The supported formats are NTFS for Windows and Extended (Journaled) for Mac OS 10.12 and earlier or Apple File System (APFS) for Mac OS 10.13 and later.

You receive the following error message while installing a product with Native Access:

    Support Community

    Cause

The installation process of a Native Instruments product requires temporarily extra space on your internal hard drive (or 'system drive'), even if you want to install the product on an external hard drive.

Info on Free Space and Purgeable Space (Mac)

Please note that to find out the actual free space available on your system drive, you need to access the application Disk Utility. You find this in: Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.

This is necessary, because simply right-clicking on the Mac HD in Finder and choosing "Get info" will show the summation of free space and purgeable space.

Native Access calculates the amount of free space an installation requires from the available free space only (excluding the purgeable space). This is why you may see what is presumably enough free space available, although Native Access requests more:

It is possible to delete purgeable data or move it to your iCloud. Please contact Apple for information on how to do this.

  • Symptom

While installing an NI upgrade / crossgrade / update product, the process fails and Native Access displays the following error message:

Activating *Product* failed: you are missing the base product for which this upgrade/crossgrade/update is valid.

    Windows

    Causes

This error message may be caused by the following:

Logging into Native Access with a different NI account than that which your base product is registered under.

Attempting to register an upgrade / crossgrade / update version without owning a valid base product.

Trying to activate a product whose base product's license is requested to be transferred.

Attempting to activate a software serial before activating the corresponding hardware product (valid only for hardware/software bundle products).

Attempting to install the MASCHINE Factory Selection, even though the full MASCHINE 2 Software and MASCHINE Factory Library are already installed.

    Solutions

Ensure that you are logged into Native Access with the email address you had previously used to register your base product. You can check what email address you have used to log into Native Access by clicking theuser icon in the top right:

Ensure that you have purchased the correct upgrade / crossgrade / update product. The purchase page on our website will inform you of the upgrade options available to you. You must be logged into your account on the Native Instruments website in order for the update options to appear. In the below example, being an owner of KOMPLETE 7 qualifies for a KOMPLETE 12 UPDATE:

If you have incorrectly purchased an upgrade / crossgrade / update product, contact the Account Support team by clicking here.

Ensure that the base product for your upgrade / crossgrade / update product is not in the process of being transferred. For example, if you have purchased a TRAKTOR PRO 3 UPDATE the corresponding base product (TRAKTOR PRO 2) cannot be transferred. You can cancel a transfer request as shown in this article.

If you have purchased a hardware product, ensure you register this first before attempting to install the bundled software. You find the hardware serial number on the underside of your hardware product. Enter this 25 digit serial in Native Access using the Add a Serial option:

Note: it may take several minutes before your software is ready to be installed. Check availability with the refresh button.

The MASCHINE Factory Selection is a reduced version of the full MASCHINE Factory Library. If you already own the full MASCHINE 2 Software (that comes with the full MASCHINE Factory Library), you should not install the MASCHINE Factory Selection, because this would cause double entries in your MASCHINE browser. If you accidentally installed the MASCHINE Factory Selection and it stays in demo mode, please uninstall it again as shown in these articles for Mac and for .

  • The KOMPLETE KONTROL A-Series and MASCHINE MIKRO MK3 both include the following products:

    MASCHINE 2 Software

    MASCHINE Factory Selection

After registering your controller, it can take several minutes until the software products appear in Native Access for installation. If the products do not show up after several minutes, please restart Native Access.

    For Existing Owners of MASCHINE:

If you already own MASCHINE and installed the MASCHINE 2 software before registering a KOMPLETE KONTROL A-Series keyboard or a MASCHINE MIKRO MK3, MASCHINE Essentials will not show up in Native Access, since it is the same software as MASCHINE 2. You can verify that the MASCHINE Essentials license is registered in your account after logging into My Products and Serials.

Please also note that the MASCHINE Factory Selection is a reduced version of the MASCHINE Factory Library, already included in you existing MASCHINE software bundle. You don't need to additionally install the MASCHINE Factory Selection.

  • Native Instruments introduces Usage Data Tracking technology which enables the NI application toautomatically track anonymous usage data that you can choose to share with us.

We encourage all users to keep Data Tracking enabled as it provides a valuable tool for understanding the performance of Native Instruments applications when they are used in real life situations.

How Can I Benefit from Usage Data Tracking?

    Improving Quality

Native Instruments conductssystematic tests in order ensure the quality and stability of all products. However, it is impossible to test on all computer setups (consumer market or self-assembled). The data gathered by Usage Data Tracking helps identify certain configurations where installing or operating our software may pose technical issues. By enabling the collecting of data, Native Instruments will be able to identify and fix these issues faster and more efficiently.

    Understanding Use Cases

Knowledge about computer systems and external hardware used with our applications will allow Native Instruments to identify common setups and usability issues, leading to better product development. By sharing your usage data, you ensure your specific usecase is strengthened within our product portfolio.

What Type of Data is Being Tracked?

All transmitted data is anonymous. It does not tell us anything that would allow us to identify you as a person. For more information, please read our Privacy Policy Statement here.

    Data Being Tracked

The following data will be transmitted by Usage Data Tracking:

    System profile

    Current location (country and city)

Data about your interaction with the software (e.g. actions you perform or audio interfaces you connect)

    Data Not Being Tracked

The following data will not be gathered by Usage Data Tracking:

Personal data (Name, email address, payment details, serial numbers, etc.)

User content (file names being referenced, samples, songs, tags, comments, mappings etc.)

Any user activity outside of the NI application

How Can I Disable / Enable Usage Data Tracking?

Usage Data Tracking can be disabled / enabled at any time, allowing you to decide exactly when you wish to share anonymous data. You can change the setting in Native Access. The setting will be used by all other NI products that offer Usage Data Tracking.

    Open Native Access.

Click the User-icon in the upper right and choose Preferences.

Under Settings, choose No, I don't want to contribute (data tracking disabled) or Yes, enable usage data tracking (data tracking enabled).

Note: Usage Data Tracking technology is enabled / disabled on each individual computer. This means that if you use the NI application on more than one computer, disabling / enabling Data Tracking will not automatically disable / enable Data Tracking on the other computer.

  • Symptom

Your NI application crashes when you try to start it.

    Cause

The application tries to load the driver for the on-board sound card of your computer, while different sample rates are set for the individual outputs of your sound card(s).

    Solution

Make sure the sample rate is the same for all individual inputs and outputs of your sound cards:

Go to the Windows Control Panel and open the Sound control panel.

In the Playback section, click on one entry and choose Properties.

In the Properties window, click the Advanced tab.

Check the sample rate. In our example screenshot below, the sample rate is set to 44.100 Hz.

Repeat this process for all entries in the Playback section and make sure to choose the same sample rate settings for all outputs.

After finishing all the output entries, repeat the whole procedure for all input entries in the Recording section.
