What is most positive about the culture and environment at your company?People care about each other, our space, our mission, and how we get there. We seem to have great norms around reflecting and giving each other thoughtful and honest feedback to keep growing.
What are some of the best things about your team?We share successes and work together to overcome challenges. We see our goal as a team goal and because we love and respect our sales leadership we want to help them hit their goals. I feel supported and get excellent coaching, my team cares about and is invested in my success.
What makes you most happy at work?I love coming to work and seeing people who look like myself making it into higher positions within Newsela. I love seeing that we have difficult conversations and make actionable change as a team and as an organization. Everyone is willing to help and rise together.
Why do you feel undervalued and what would make you feel better about your compensation?I took a pay cut to join Newsela, but my overall job satisfaction is higher at Newsela than at my previous job, even though my hours are longer at Newsela. Working less hours would make me feel better about my compensation.

Texts are published at five reading levels, so content is accessible to every learner. Today, more than 3.3 million teachers and 40 million students have registered with Newsela for content that’s accessible to everyone, aligned to standards, and attached to activities and reporting that provide visibility into what students are learning and how teachers are leveraging the content in instruction.
