Mr. Andrew Tyler, FRAeS, FREng, CBE has been the Chief Executive for UK and Europe at Northrop Grumman Corporation since July 01, 2013. Mr. Tyler served as the Director of Finance & Operations at MerchantCantos (UK) LLP/Cantos Communications Limited. Prior to Northrop Grumman, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Marine Current Turbines Limited. He served as an Operations Director for Europe and the Far East at BMT Group Limited. Mr. Tyler held a number of senior executive roles at BMT. He served as the Managing Director BMT Defence Services Ltd. He joined Cantos with 9 years experience in financial control. Mr. Tyler served as a financial controller within two growing SMEs, he spent 5 years in line accounting roles within major companies in the oil and gas sector. He has been the Chairman of Kite Power Systems Ltd., since July 2017. He serves as Chairman of BMT Defence Services. Mr. Tyler joined the Ministry of Defence in 2006 leading the procurement and support of equipment for the Royal Navy. During his five year period at the MoD from 2006 to 2011, he served as Director of Land and Maritime at the Defence Procurement Agency, directing a wide portfolio of projects including the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers, Type 45 destroyer, armoured fighting vehicles, artillery and munitions projects and the F-35 Lightning II aircraft. When the DE&S organisation was formed, he then became director general, Ships with responsibility for directing the procurement and support of all the Royal Navy's surface assets. Since 2008, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) in the U.K. Ministry of Defence (MoD), the organisation responsible for the procurement and support of all the equipment used by the British Armed Forces. He has more than 20 years' experience leading and managing science, engineering and technology businesses and international business development within a variety of markets including offshore oil and gas, commercial maritime, environmental and defence. He has been a Director at Kite Power Systems Ltd., since July 2017. He served as a Director of Marine Current Turbines Limited. He served as a Director of BMT Group Limited. He is qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1992. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology; Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors; and a Member of the Royal Corps of Naval Constructors. In 2010, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and was appointed Commander of the Order of British Empire in the 2012 New Year Honours List for services to the U.K. defence industry. Mr. Tyler earned a BSc in Nautical Studies with first class honours and a PhD from the University of Plymouth. He graduated with distinction from the Executive MBA programme at the London Business School.
